Eastern Nigeria, devastated by the Nigerian-Biafran Civil War, has achieved remarkable economic and infrastructural development through a unique combination of the Igbo apprenticeship system (Igba Boi), the Aku Ruo Ulo philosophy of reinvesting wealth back home, and community-led development through town unions, enabling cities like Enugu, Onitsha, Aba, Nnewi, and Owerri to become among Nigeria's most developed regions without significant federal government assistance.

TOP CITIES IN EASTERN NIGERIA. IGBO AMAKA!Added:
I'm really surprised how the eastern part of Nigeria rose up to become one of the most developed region on the African continent. We all know the Nigerian Bafan war had a very devastating effect on the eastern part of Nigeria especially the Ebos speaking communities but guess what as of today the eastern part of Nigeria is home to some of Nigeria's most developed city from Enugu to Onisha to Abbat Umua this region they rose up to build their region back to compete with top regions that were not even affected by the war or by the civil war. So on this video I've come up with a list of some eastern cities especially like the eastern part of Nigeria is dominated by the EU people. So I want to bring to you some cities how these EU people they've been able to build up themselves after the Nigerian Bfran civil war despite a lot of devastating effect. So after the Nigerian Bafraan war in 1970, we all know the the then administration of Jakoban introduced what we call the three arrows, reconstruction, renovation, and rehabilitation as a way of compensating Nigerians, especially the EOS after the devastating effect of the war.
So it was a way of compensating them that yeah we know we we've destroyed a lot of things but let's compensate you guys by doing reconstruction rehabilitation and renovation. So they started with the reconstruction of the Niger bridge which was destroyed during the war. But my question is is that policy um sorry is that policy still going on in the eastern part of Nigeria?
Is there a reconstruction of infrastructures? Is there a renovation or rehabilitation from the federal government or these people are quietly developing their region by themselves?
Because if you look very well to in the eastern part of Nigeria, you don't find a lot of federal government infrastructures or federal government projects like what you find in most part especially the southwest part or the northern part. You will not find that in the eastern part or in the south south part of Nigeria. So I'm really surprised how these EOS they've been able by themselves to develop their region to match top regions in Africa that has that have not experienced anything like civil war. So we are going to look at these cities and let me know what you think about them in the comment section.
These cities I'm listing them in no particular order. So before you say no this one was supposed to be number one, this one was supposed to be number two.
So I'm not listing them in any particular order. So let's take a look at these cities. Like another thing I've noticed like if you want to talk about Nigeria than Nigerianness, I think like the EOS they show more Nigerianness than any other tribe in Nigeria because I mean imagine them building themsel from that. Like do you know the Nigerian Bafan was like what one of the worst war that ever happened on the African continent. So I'm really surprised how these people they've been able to build up their infrastructures to match up with top regions in Africa. Let me not talk too much. Let's take a look at these cities.
So let's start with Enugu.
So this is Enugu. Enugu served as the first capital of Bafra. So right now it's a very important city in the eastern part of Nigeria when it comes in terms of politics. You see a lot of they have a lot of political influence in the eastern part of Nigeria. And trust me, you wouldn't believe that this place faced a lot of like devastating effect during the Nigerian Bapran war. But look at it today. It is coming up to compete with top cities in West Africa. I mean, if you don't look very well, you think like this is Abuja. This place is developing so fast. We see a lot of buildings popping up like the uh Enugu International Convention Center, the Enugu International Hotel, the International Hospitals and a lot more impressive infrastructures popping up every day in Enugu.
This was a city that was named the the war capital. Yeah, it was a war capital to the Bapans because like there was a lot of destruction here. They they experienced a lot of devastating effects of the war. But look how this city has been able to build up itself. Like this is beautiful.
From the city planning to the structures like that's why I so much love people when it comes in terms of for knowing home. Yeah, let me use that one knowing home because no matter where they are, they always go back home to develop home. like they go back home to build the structure. You see all these structures you see here are owned by them. Yeah, they are owned by them. You will not see a lot of federal government projects here like you not see federal government railways or international airports like you find in most part of Nigeria like the southwest or the northern part. Look at that view.
So everything you see in the eastern part of Nigeria are all owned by the indigenous people. That's the EOS or the state government. And I'm really impressed like this part of Nigeria is a testament that don't let your current situation to pull you down. You need to rise beyond your current situation. And look at Enugu today. Can you see Enugu today?
Enobu is now hosting the NBA. Like the Enugu International Convention Center is one of the most iconic landmark right now you'll find in Nigeria. And there's a lot of pretty infrastructures popping up every day in this city. Trust me, if you add a little more structures here in this city, this city will compete with top capital cities in West Africa and Central Africa. I'm not capping. I'm not hyping any but let's be realistic to ourselves.
Like look at that.
What really drew my attention is like I was reading and I I came across the Nigerian banan civil war and I read that part of it. I discovered that they really face a lot. Yeah. Like they face a lot. their businesses were shut down, like families were scattered. A lot of negative effects. But these people after the civil war, they've been able to come together, build up themselves massively, more developed than many parts of Nigeria that didn't experience that effect that they experienced.
Like look at the view.

And Enugu is like the greenest city in Nigeria. Yeah, they won it. they gave them I think they won about 50 million.
So that's the Enugu international convention as as you can see there and also you see the real estate I was looking at Ghana estate and Abuja estate but I think like Enugu also has estate that can compete with most West African estate even Ghana yeah like you see all these residential estate you know the EOS when it comes in terms of building houses they don't joke yeah like they construct mansions so the real estate is booming so well in Enugu so when it comes in terms of real estate going on here in Enugu.
Like this is beautiful, man. This is beautiful.
Like look at that.
Even the night view is beautiful. Like everything is just so beautiful in this city.
So another city that you find in the eastern part of Nigeria is Umaya. Yeah.
So Uma is the capital of Abia state. Abia state like was just recently created it 1991. So it's one of the the the second to last set of states that were created. So look at is the capital of Abia. It's not the largest city. The largest city I think is Abba.
So Uma is a political capital and look at this. And I'm sure they also experienced a lot of devastating effect of during the Nigerian Bafan civil war.
But look look at the structures. Can you see what I'm seeing?
Can you see what I'm seeing? Like everything here like I said is owned by the EOS. Yeah. is not like they are not owned by foreigners. They are not owned by the federal government. They are owned by the EOS, the locals.
And do you know what they build all this not with oil and gas but with traits entrepreneurs like they use their their commercial mind to build impressive infrastructures in their region. So it's not like it's not it's not a region like south south where they have a lot of oil and gas. I know yeah the eastern part of Niger also have oil and gas but you should know Nigeria does not practice true federalism which mean most of those mineral resources they still controlled by the federal government. So I will not say they use oil and gas to to develop their state. They use their own money their trade their mindset to develop their region. And I'm really impressed.
Like I'm really impressed how how these people were able to do all this despite facing a very hard time during that uh uh Nigerian Bafan war.
Like I was expecting their business to collapse after that war. But you know what? When it comes of business, don't joke with the EOS. You see their business is not just booming in Nigeria alone. Everywhere in Africa you go, you find the EOS excelling in their businesses. Yeah. Even in Cameroon like they are in fact they've taken the business sector in Cameroon and they doing so well they and they succeed so well in business. Even if they start with 10 naira in the next five years they making million. It's not ritual. It's hard work. is the mindset.
So you see a lot of impressive estate also in look at those buildings you see and I think like the real estate sector is like really moving so well in the eastern part of Nigeria like this is impressive I must say like it is beautiful.
Another impressive city in the eastern part of Nigeria this is Oka. Yeah Oka is the capital of Anra state. It is not the largest city. The largest city is Onisha. So, Oka is more like the political capital of Anra state. And this is another very beautiful city you find in the eastern part of Nigeria.
Trust me.
Like you see, are you seen all those structures?
Like you not like I always say, you not find a lot. In fact, I'm being realistic here. You not find a lot of federal government projects in the eastern part of Nigeria. You will not find them. You not find the railways. You will not find the railways like you see in the southwest or in the northern part. So the eastern part of Nigeria is like more developed by the local people. That's the EOS. And that's why I so much like I feel like you can draw an inspiration from the eastern part of Nigeria that you can rise beyond doubt. You can you can rise beyond your current situation.
The fact that you're having a hard time does not mean like that's the end.
Because I'm sure these people they had a really hard time during the Nigerian Bafan war. But look at them today building impressive infrastructures.
Like I'm amazed. I must say I'm amazed.
And you see the type of mansions the EOS they build. Like they build mansions.
They believe that wherever you are, you need to go back home and build something. Like every structure you see there matters.
And they build it every day. like they keep opening a lot of impressive and beautiful estate. So when you see an ebo in your community or your country, trust me, that evil man already has an impressive mansion in his town or in his state or in his community waiting for him for retirement.
And that that mindset has really helped them develop their region so well. I mean imagine everybody building impressive structures, a lot of beautiful mansions.
They are not the type of people that they travel out and they don't come back to to build or to invest. So this is another city in the eastern part of Nigeria. This is Abba. Yeah, you can see Aba is the largest city of Abia state.
More like the commercial capital of Abia state. And trust me there's a lot of commercialization going on here in Aba.
I think like it's home to the one of West Africa's largest market. Is it the Aaria International Market? Yeah, I think it should be the Aaria International Market. So, Abba is more like a commercial center and as well as a center for industrialization. They have a lot of companies here. Yeah, a lot.
And also to me, I feel like it's the most well planned city in the eastern part of Nigeria. I mean it is well laid out. Look at that view. Like that's beautiful.
And trust me, Abia is like one of the I think like the second to the last B set of states that were created. Yeah.
Before the last set in 1990, is it 1996 or 1994? So state was created in 1991.
They were second they were among the second to the last set of states that were created. Look at that. You see how well planned this part this ABBA is.
Let me be honest here. I'm not trying to talk down on my country, but I really have to be realistic with myself. A lot of Cameroonians buy goods from the eastern part of Nigeria than they buy in Cameroon. Yeah. Like they choose to come to Nigeria, especially the eastern part to get goods and resell them in Cameroon. So if you check most of these the international market the Ararian international market or the onisha main market you find a lot of foreigners especially Nigerians Ghanaians toolles buying goods from there. So this part of Nigeria rose from being a war zone to a zone for international trade and international commerce.
like you really need to draw an inspiration from this part of Nigeria from Abbad to Onisha to Enugu to Oka a lot more you're going to see a lot more other cities here like I think I'm drawing my inspiration from this part of Nigeria like this part is is like motivating me Aba is such a beautiful city like look at I used to think that Aba is one dirty place like that but trust me this city can match a lot of West African capital.
Yeah I mean you can't compare this place with capital of Nijer. You can't compare this place with capital of even Bokina. I mean this place looks more urban nice and developed than many West African cities.
And also you should know that the the eastern states are always listed among the richest states in Nigeria as well.
Like states like Elugu, I emo state, Anamra state like they're always listed among the top 10 richest states in Nigeria. This is these are the same states from the same region that faced a lot of devastating effects of the Nigerian Bafraan civil war.
that this should be an industry.
So you see you see how these people they've been able to build up themselves. Do you see how the EOS they've been able to build up their cities, their states to meet up with in fact over overtaken other states or other regions that didn't experience what they experienced like I don't know if you read if if you read you I I'm recommending that you go read do a research about the Nigerian baffan war and you're going to see or like feel what these people they they experienced like they went through a very hard time.
Their businesses, their infrastructures, people were displaced. But after the war, they all came back and they're building some something that even the federal government of Nigerian like cannot do it for them. They are doing it.
Like I'm impressed.
So another impressive city you find in the eastern part of Nigeria is Yeah. is actually like my favorite city in the eastern part of Nigeria. Is the capital of Imo state. Imo state is another state in the eastern part of Nigeria. And look at this.
Look at these infrastructures and you see the real estate sector like you see a lot of this estate. Do you see how like they have a very large real estate sector and all these beautiful mansions you see they are not owned by the government. Yeah, you heard me well.
They are not owned by the federal government. They are not owned by even the state government. They are owned by the Ebos. So it's type of structures these people are building like they are building massive structures like and I also love the fact that even if when they they are in your state or your city they also like bring a lot of development because they tend to be a lot of they build a lot of mansions a lot of businesses. So them being in your country or in your city or your state like a kind of blessing because these people they come with investment. Yeah. They come with investment.
So it really helps uh the local economy as well because imagine bringing a very large investment in terms of business to a state that's going going to boom the economy of that state. So I really love how the EO they don't just like limit this their business opportunity mindset within their state or their region. They take it across other parts of Africa and it has also reached Cameroon like they have we have a lot of EOS doing businesses in Cameroon and I'm really impressed.
So this is Oeri capital of Imo state.
Like like I said it's actually my favorite city in the eastern part of Nigeria. I love how wide their roads are. I love how beautiful it is laid.
Like is just so beautiful. But in has no competitor in the east part like all these.

like mansions everywhere. I feel like I can just give me one of these mansions.
Like I really love how they build their houses. Like they I feel like they build to impress. Yeah.
They don't do low budget construction.
They do massive construction. The EOS is beautiful.
Like oh worry is beautiful like look at those mansions. Ah even the night view is giving.
So they did not just build infra infra normal infrastructure. They also built electricity like you see the night view of Aeri or did you see the night view of Enugu or like even Abal I heard like they have a lot of they have almost 24/7 electricity. So that's that's that's building massive infrastructure. It's not all about constructing road. But other social amenities like water, electricity supply like another impressive city you find in the eastern part of Nigeria. Nigeria is Onisha. Uh this side let me say like the commercial heartbeat of the east. The Onisha main market is located in this city. It is the largest city of Anamra state and one of the largest city in the eastern part of Nigeria. This place has more story buildings than any other part of Nigeria. Like you see all those story buildings story build like everybody here is building story buildings and also when you go to the Onisha main market it's a very big market I think like one of the largest markets on the African continent. You find a lot of foreigners shopping. Yeah. Like they come here to buy goods, take to their country and sell at a higher price.
That's why I say when I say p prices of goods are very cheap in Nigeria.
Nigerians will think I'm joking. They are very cheap because a lot of Cameroonians they also come here to in fact I even have Cameroonians friend that they calling me to buy goods from Onisha or Abba and ship it to them in Cameroon. So you see things are quite expensive especially in the eastern part of Nigeria in top in most of their large market like the Onisha main market or the area international market. So there's a lot of commercialization going on here in Onisha like Onisha is more commercialized than Abba but Abba is more industrialized than Onisha. So but these two cities Onisha and Aba are like the backbone of the eastern economy when it comes in terms of commercialization and uh industrialization.
So look at look at these people. These people ah I'm not doing this video to hype any any tribe, any region or any state or any city in Nigeria, but sometimes we we need to like look at some some certain things and make comments on them. Like we all you should you you should be surprised how a region that felt a very hard effect on the Nigerian Bapan civil war has been able to like build all these impressive infrastructures we see today. I mean you cannot compare the eastern part of Nigeria to the to the in fact let aside from Lagos you cannot compare the eastern part of Nigeria to even the southwest of Nigeria. Yeah, it's okay.
You can compare it to the south south.
The south is a geopolitical zone. Yeah, it was created politically. But if you want to check it very according to geography, they are all east Nigeria. So the eastern part of Nigeria, you cannot compare to any other region of Nigeria.
You cannot compare to the southwest. You cannot compare to the northern part.
Like they are way way ahead in terms of infrastructural development.
So another one this is the last one we're going to look at is Abakaliki the youngest of them all. Yeah. Like though even though it's the youngest we see a lot of massive infrastructures popping up every day in Abakaliki. Like there are a lot of flyovers they building for the future.
Look at that. Look. Do you see the road?
They have the best road network in the eastern part of Nigeria. Yeah. It's the youngest state capital in the eastern part of Nigeria. is the capital of Ebony state. Eon state was recently created.
Was it? Please correct me in the comment section. Is it 1994 or 1996? But look at it today.
Look at it today.
Like um I don't know how the Eboss are doing it but I think like Nigerians need to like look into how they the Eboss are doing it because you can't tell me that despite facing all those devastating effects of the Nigerian Bafan civil war they've been able to come up build all these infrastructures to surpass many or to to overtake many regions that did not experience what they experienced. So I think like Nigerians should really give the EOS the chance to like ask them how are you people doing it? I mean because this is mindblowing.
It is hon like I don't know for you like I'm not trying to like I said I'm not trying to hype or praise any tribe or ethnic group but we need to make comments on certain things. So that's it. You've seen the eastern part of Nigeria. see how beautiful, how developed they they all look. They have a lot of beautiful cities and drop what you think about this region of Nigeria in the comment section. And also, I really want to know, like I said earlier in this video, after the civil war ended, the then administration of Yakub Goan introduced the three arrows, that's the reconstruction, rehabilitation, and renovation. To those that read you, you I'm sure you might have come across something like that. So I really want to know is there any constru reconstruction or rehabilitation or renovation going on in the eastern part of Nigeria by the federal government? Like are they building the railways? Are they building the roads? Are they constructing the structures that were destroyed? Because I mean if they are not doing that it means that policy was just like another scam to the eastern part of Nigeria. And if they are doing that, I hope they continue to do it to like really help the eastern part to develop so fast because they have this potentials in terms of infrastructural development that you will not find in any other Nigerian region. So let me know what you think about these beautiful eastern cities. Drop your opinion in the comment section.
