Most engineers think high aspect ratio cells are bad. They are wrong. AO sometimes in boundary layers gradients are steep normal to the wall but gentle along it. A prism cell stretch 50 to1 matches the physics perfectly. You need far fewer cells and get better accuracy.
But in bulk flow where gradients go in all directions, high aspect ratio smears everything. The rule is simple. Match your cell shape to your gradient direction.
