Adenomyosis is a uterine condition where tissue that normally lines the uterus expands and invades the uterine walls, causing heavy bleeding, severe cramps, extreme fatigue, bloating, and inflammation; it progresses through four stages and can cause the uterus to enlarge two to three times during menstruation, with ultrasound being the primary diagnostic tool and birth control being a common but limited treatment option.

For those that don't know anything about adenomyosis, >> Yes. what are five things that you found out about it during research that you can share with us? Some of the common things with that um condition is heavy bleeding, cramps, um extreme fatigue, you start getting puffy like cuz of inflammation, you get a belly.
And I didn't realize it, but there are four stages. So, for me, I even at the earliest stage because again, I did my wellness exams every year and the year prior, nothing came up.
>> Mhm.
Um so, they caught it early, but the recommended treatment for it is uh birth control. Mhm.
But even then, they said that's like a a small band-aid in a big wound. Mhm. So, that is why they for me um because everything was bigger. My stomach was big, I was big.
Um my extreme pain it and um just voicing it. Like I just told them honestly, this is what I'm dealing with, this is what I'm feeling like and I think that also helped, but yes, the bleeding um the cramps, and of course, labs, ultrasound. Mhm.
Basically, just to kind of sum it up, yeah. And is ultrasound the only way they can actually see or find it? I believe so because in my case, they missed it actually because like I said, they always go through like, okay, let's do the STI STD panel, STI panel.
>> Right. And then it'd be like the the pap smear, the cultures, and even then, it was like, okay, now we're going to do ultrasound. And that was the ultrasound.
So, I would say yes. Yeah. For me, I currently are had served, you veteran.
Mhm. Got out in 2017. I'm on more than one tour. Mhm. Came back and I feel that I had been exposed to some things overseas and it affected my women's health. So, it's a tissue condition that lines the uterus and the tissue can expand and go into the walls of the uterus.
And when it does, it can bleed and it can dissolve and it can enlarge in the uterus. So, when you menstruate, especially when you menstruate, it can cause uterus to be two to three times larger.
Just because it's in the actual walls.
Endometriosis is the outside of it.
Right. So, this was actually in.
So, the pain um as it progresses and as it gets deeper into those walls, I started experiencing shock-like um Oh, yeah. cramps to the point where my lower back would hurt.
Um I would get the bloating and my body was inflamed. Like it was just reacting and trying to hold all of that constant discomfort and
