World Bank Ranks Apapa, Tin Can Among Top 20 Most Improved Ports
Added:Now, in other news, the Nigerian maritime sector has received a major boost as the World Bank ranks the Tin Can Island and Apapa Port complexes among the world's top 20 most improved ports. According to the 2025 container report performance index released in June 2026, both ports recorded significant gains in operational efficiency vessel turnaround time reflecting the impact of ongoing reforms by the Nigerian Ports Authority. The recognition comes as Nigeria has Nigeria sustained its trade surplus momentum with the National Bureau of Statistics reported a 7.5 trillion naira surplus in the first quarter of 2026. NPA's managing director Abubakar Dantsoho credited the achievements to the federal government's port modernization drive and says efforts are underway to further enhance trade facilitation and competitiveness.
