This video exposes the uncomfortable gap between constitutional rights and the public's reflexive fear of transparency. It proves that exercising a legal freedom can still be perceived as a provocation in a society driven by suspicion.

Added:What's going on?
>> I'm Officer Espinosa, I'm with the Township Police Department. Just to let you know everything's audio video recorded, all right?
>> Sweet.
>> Um just got a call saying that you were filming people. Just trying to figure out what's going on.
>> Oh, I I wasn't the one that called. I have no idea.
>> Uh okay, got you.
All right. Do you need any assistance from us or anything from us?
>> No, I don't think so.
>> No? Okay.
All right. Well, you have a good day.
>> Thank you. Thank you.
>> Actually, I I I do have a question for you. Could you just get me the the CAD number, the call number, whatever it is?
I'm not looking for you to write a report or anything. I just want the CAD number.
>> Yeah. Yeah, give me one minute.
>> Sweet. Thank you. And what was your name and badge number, too?
>> I'm Officer Espinosa, 172.
>> Sweet. Thank you. Thank you very much.
>> Yep, absolutely.
>> you're are you going to go talk to the caller and tell them that they shouldn't be calling po- calling police over somebody recording on a sidewalk?
>> Yeah, I guess just in today's day and age, everyone always feels uneasy when people are recording, you know what I mean?
>> You have every right.
>> I don't.
>> Oh, well.
>> That's very interesting.
>> it's just out of the ordinary, you know what I mean? You're just recording people, individual businesses, so people who own a business, they get concerned.
>> So, they call men with guns, badges, and cameras to come >> Well, it's our job to protect our community. We don't We don't know what's going on. That's why I just came over and asked what's what's going on.
>> It's all good, man.
>> Yeah.
>> So, are you are you're like are you are you going to inform them that they shouldn't be calling police and wasting tax dollars to see if see if phones are illegal?
>> every right to, though. They have every right to. Anybody can call on anyone in a sense for anybody who appears to be suspicious, and that definition is very subjective. Anyone can feel suspicious about somebody.
Unfortunately, we end up being the people who got to come out and talk, but >> Just to me?
You don't talk to the other people?
>> Who, the caller?
>> Yeah.
>> If the caller said they don't want to talk to us, we don't have to.
>> They told you They told you three. They told you three. Said, "We don't want to talk to you," but >> No, I'm I'm But I'm saying it goes without saying. I mean, you can just say, "No, I'm you know, I'm not doing anything. I don't feel like speaking with you. You have every right.
But like I said, in this day and age, people get uneasy.
>> That's just weird. That's just weird.
That That uh That beats me. Call the police, but I don't want to talk to you.
That's That's strange.
>> call our dispatch, our dispatch usually asks them if they want to speak to us or not. So, if they say they don't want to, I mean Like if they don't want to get involved in the situation, they they have a right to remain anonymous.
>> And that's anything.
>> I know that. Just find it weird.
>> Yeah, I got you.
>> In this day and age, right?
>> Yeah.
>> Do you really Do you really find cameras in this day and age in 2026 to be that suspicious or weird?
>> Well, it's just it's out of the ordinary, right? So, like what you're doing is perfectly legal. It's just something that doesn't happen too often. When people's patterns change and they see something out of the ordinary, like you standing on the corner with a tripod or whatever the pole is, videotaping, whether it's people or business, it's something out of the ordinary, so people find it suspicious. That's why they call us. You may not find it suspicious.
That's perfectly fine.
