Realistic budgeting involves adjusting your financial plan when life circumstances change, rather than striving for perfection; cash stuffing helps control spending by physically separating money into categories, while tracking expenses reveals hidden spending patterns that can add up quickly, making small consistent savings more effective than occasional large savings efforts.

Cash Stuffing My Envelopes | ADDING Cash after Payday + restarting christmas savingsAdded:
Y'all, have you ever thought your paycheck was going to stretch and then real life started lifing? Because why did I have to go back to the ATM to get the cash? Remember, I didn't get it because I had so [snorts] much to do for my budget. And y'all, money always still disappears fast even when you're trying to be responsible. Okay, so today, we are doing some real life cash stuffing, updating my envelopes, talking about why budgeting is not always neat and perfect. And we're also going to be starting back on my Christmas savings because mhm, y'all, Christmas is literally around the corner and I refuse to stress myself out for this year. Let me know if it's the same for you. And guys, honestly, this video is probably going to be a reminder that budgeting isn't about being perfect, it's about adjusting before things spiral.
Let's get it.
>> [music] [music] >> Hey guys, welcome back to the channel.
So, if you are new here, my name is Tina and on this channel, guys, guess what?
Da da da da >> [laughter] >> Just joking. We talk about real life budgeting, cash stuffing, saving money on a low income or a tight income, trying to survive adulthood financially and doing it all while balancing real life. And today's video, guys, um honestly, one of those, like I said, always I try to be realistic. It's realistic budget maintenance video, okay? That's what I'm going to call it.
Yeah. Because I've already did my paycheck budget for the 8th through the 21st, but I still needed to stop by the ATM and grab the cash for my um cash envelopes because life got just crazy busy and I told you we had like hospital stays and all that last um couple weeks and I never actually pulled the money out. And honestly, like I said, this is real budgeting, guys. Sometimes you make the budget and then real life delays the actual system, okay? So, this is the cash in It's not a lot of cash, but like I said, we going to make it work. All right, so we have 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 110, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 65, 70, 75. All right, so we have $175, but the thing about this is I do have cashless envelopes. So, the cashless envelopes account for um my budget also, but it's just not money that I actually um pulled out. All right, so we're just going to stick this right up here and we are going to move on. All right, so let's go ahead and stuff these envelopes because your girl needs structure because um if I don't separate this money, y'all, >> [laughter] >> it's going to disappear, all right? And like I said, I know I'm not the only one, so don't be trying to act like I'm the only person that does that.
>> [laughter] >> And I'm going to kind of recap real quick. So, this is already have the amounts written down of how much that I was supposed to put for each envelope and this is what I am working with, but I'm actually going to move my binder over here and we are going to go ahead and stuff these envelopes.
Now, before I do that, I think what I'm going to do is get rid of this change and I think Oh gosh, y'all have like I've tried to restock these back up. I stocked them back up and then they're like pretty much almost all gone. So, the pink, I know is this color, well, the blush. This blush color is all out of stock.
So, um I'll have to um order I'll have to order more of those for you guys.
Let me put these in here real quick.
And I think the black I'm not sure. I think the black may be out. I need to see. I can look real quick to see which I have still in stock. I can't remember.
I know people be asking me, but I'm like, "Oh gosh, I can't remember."
Okay, so So, these are my coins that I have. Um last time I was able like to save like $28.50 with my coin that I saved. I only have The only colors that I actually have left is the um the teal here. This one.
Cuz all you guys always ask me after and I'm like, I forget to respond.
And I have the um lavender lilac color left. I only have a few of those. I have the white um color left.
And oh, and I have the periwinkle, too.
I have some of those. Oh, I think I might have Oh, the green went quick. The green I don't have. This is the only one I have and then the black. I think this is the only color that I have for that. So, other than that, that's all I have. The pink blush Um I don't have any more of those. So, for you guys that had messaged me and asked me, that is what I have left for these little They're very convenient. Like I can put my coins in here, but I actually like this little And you can also put like a little ID or a picture back here if you want to.
All right, so let's go ahead. Let's hop into it. All right, so first we have eat out and I'm going to be adding $25 to that. Now listen, I have been trying really hard not to overspend on eating out because food adds up so freaking fast. And likewise, a quick stop.
Somehow $20 every single time you head out. And honestly, one thing I've been learning lately is budgeting isn't always about never eating out. And I had to kind of teach train myself. Sometimes it's about giving yourself a realistic amount, you know what I mean? So, you don't binge spend later. And because when I tell you I tell myself I can't have anything, that's usually the time when I freaking overspend. I don't know why I'm like spending so much time on this $20 bill. So, let's just say like you can do like rewarding yourself after work. So, like today I had like a rough week trying to get my things for me to go back to work to make sure that I have access to the system. It was just crazy.
By the time I called the um the caretaking company that you have for our work, and then by the time they keep matching up with everybody else, it was like a mess. I'm glad I stayed on top of it. Sometimes you have to do that. And I was able to get what I need done, hopefully. So, we'll see tomorrow if it works when I head back to work. But, I'm not sure. But, sometimes after a long day of work or things that you had that's kind of stressing you out, you just want something easy. And I think people underestimate like how emotional um convenient spending can be. But, I think if you have had a long day, and you feel like you might want to spend, you know, grab you something to kind of make it a little bit better for yourself, I would say to go ahead and do that.
It is Tina approved.
>> [laughter] >> All right, next we have personal envelope, and I am going to be doing $15 for this.
And this envelope is basically for pretty much random little things that pop up because life always has something. And honestly, having even a tiny personal category helps me not feel freaking deprived. So, I'm going to try to leave this cash in here cuz I want to get a new Apple Watch cover. And I probably just go on Amazon to get some, but I kind of want to save it because I don't actually need it like super quick at this moment. This one still works, but my cover here is coming off. It's an OtterBox, but the size, I know they say you can do like OtterBox guarantee or whatever, but this is a different size than what the watch that I have cuz this one um it's so weird with the 42 mm. I don't know if anybody else has this issue. I need to clean my screen.
Like there's a lot of watches. I get boxes that got the watch band that actually fits.
What is that on my I think it's ink. But the bumper don't fit. So the bumper will fit like a 41, a 40, and 38.
But it'll say the watch band fits a 42 mm, a 40 4 mm, or but the bumper case don't don't fit it. So I'm like, "Why is it in the same box?" I'm kind of confused. That that confuses me. Okay. Let's move on.
So next we have life happens and I'm going to be adding $30 to that.
And this envelope right here, guys, this is probably one of the most realistic envelopes I have and I'm glad that I actually did add this to my everyday binder because some I can't speak uh I can't talk. Because something always comes up unexpected, school stuff, um random fees, something in the house, last-minute events, needing medicine, extra gas, okay? So life literally does not care about your budget sometimes. It it just says, "Whatever. She all right.
I ain't feeling order today." And honestly, guys, I think one of the biggest mindset shifts for me was realizing budgeting is not about pretending emergencies won't happen. I always have to make sure that I keep that in mind because that's when things kick me in the butt and get me when I try to act like that ain't going to happen. But when it actually really does, it's about preparing your mind so every inconvenience, guys, doesn't turn into financial chaos. So that's what I had to teach myself and learn, okay? All right. So grocery envelope um couponing, I'm not going to add anything to that as of now. So I'm going to skip over that. So grocery and household, um that's cashless, so I'm going to do I'm going to add 120 to this.
So, and I have 3314.
So, we're going to do add cash, and then this is 511.
So, we're going to do 120, so this will be 15314.
All right, so this is what we got for this envelope here. So, I'm not physically adding, um, cash to this stuffing it. This envelope because I mainly use pick up orders and my card for groceries.
So, sometimes if, um, I do go inside, I just use my, I just use my card while I'm inside. But, I this has been actually, like I said, convenient, so I just pretty much just actually just do this, pull up, get the groceries in the car, and it has actually saved a lot of, um, time for me. Even I don't want to get lazy and not get out the car and walk around, but you know, you got to do what you got to do.
And, honestly, the system has pretty much helped me because grocery pick up keeps me from, like I said, avoiding impulse spending when I get in them Little Debbie Cakes, them Little Debbie Cakes, and them Honey Buns.
And I love chips.
Yeah, and them new Doritos with the, no, the new Ruffles with the Dorito Cool Ranch flavoring. Shame on you, Doritos.
Shame on you, Ruffles, for making some good chips, all right? So, that is part of one of the things that I spend extra when I go in the store is freaking chips. Um, and also is it also helps me compare prices online, like I can go on the Walmart app, and I can go on the, um, Kroger's app, and I can actually, and the Food Lion app, and see exactly what prices are the best, and, um, and it just makes sticking to a list better.
It just makes it so much easier and less, um, draining and less, um, overwhelming, I think. Because, why do I, I'm one of the ones that will seriously walk into Target for toothpaste and somehow leave with lots of stuff, candle snacks, seasonal decor, and emotional I'mma call it emotional damage. That's what it is and leave with that. So, >> [snorts] >> all right. So, next we have gas. So, gas is going to get $50 and this one is also cashless because paying at the pump is a little bit easier for me at the moment.
And it's not going to be for everybody.
Um so, we're adding $50 and then so we got $50 and I don't have change anymore because I moved that change to my coin boxes.
And I just girl, I'm telling you I just feel like gas is one of those categories that can mentally drain you because it's one of those expenses that you have to pay. Ain't no getting around it. I mean, unless you want to um pat and Tom, but other than that, you're not getting around it, okay? All right. So, extra cash I forgot to put some in extra Where's my extra cash? Extra cash. Where you at? Where you at? Where you at?
Okay. So, extra cash I'm going to actually put $20 into that. And this category is honestly my little breathing room envelope because sometimes budgeting can feel so strict. Mhm.
And having a tiny buffer helps me stay on track mentally, y'all, cuz you got to be them the mentally, right?
All right. Um and I think that is all for what we're going to do for my cash envelope. So, I've actually I didn't put any in miscellaneous. So, I'm actually do Not actually do. Actually done. What the crap?
All right. So, I'm going to put this over here. And next we We're going to be adding to my Christmas challenge.
Cuz remember Christmas is not that far, y'all. Okay. So, this is what we have for the Christmas challenge.
All right. So, we're going to be adding and remember I already did the configurations for this.
I did on my Instagram. So, um if I didn't post it here on my YouTube. So, I just did 300. I had nine icons, so I just divided the nine by the 300, and that gave me like 33.33 something. So, I just rounded up for $35. So, this is all I am spending for Christmas because I feel like it needs to be more about what Christmas is about.
Spending time with each other. It's not all about what I'm going to get, what you got me. I don't like that. How can I return this? It's And I mean I I I guess that Christmas can be like whatever you think you want it to be. You know what I mean? But, I just feel like it's more to the meaning of Christmas than what um it seems to be. It's more commercial now. I don't know. Maybe it's just me. I don't know.
Well, anyways, because um like I said, Christmas is literally like seven or six or seven months, and I refuse to be stressed this year. So, I do not want to be panicking shopping. We ain't doing that. That ain't something we going to be doing. I don't want to be putting gifts on credit cards, and I don't want to be emotionally spiraling in December.
All right? So, we ain't doing it.
How they say on Baby Kids? We ain't having it. Mm-mm.
All right. So, we're going to fill in a heart, and we're going to do $35.
So, we're going to get this party started, right? Quickly. Okay. So, I'm going to put this in here. Oops.
What the What the heck am I doing here?
I'm struggling. All right. So, that's all for Christmas.
All right. And then another thing what I told you guys that's in my um to-do's is to keep at it with Aiden's binder.
And I'm doing a little bit better, and I'm proud of myself.
All right. So, we're actually going to go to summer camp.
And that is here. And summer camp, we are going to be adding $50 to this.
That's 5 11 50.
So, we got $89 in summer camp.
Oop, oop.
Put that there.
And this will go in here. So, 50 60 70 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8.
All right.
All right, so we're going to put the 50 in there.
And that's going to be for summer camp.
Perfect.
That was easy.
All right. And this is why, guys, I always tell people small savings matter because people think savings like how can I say this? Only counts if you're putting away huge amounts, but realistically, small consistent amounts change your life more than random big saving moments. Okay?
All right, so that's what I got going on for there. I did my Christmas challenge.
Um I am going to be starting my Kawaii Fruit Savings Challenge. I am going to be starting that. And like I said, I want to do a little bit better with that. So, this one I'm going to start doing this here cuz I've been like realizing a lot lately that the future me deserves less stress, too. So, you have to you know what I mean? And honestly, guys, and another thing that I um that's been helping me stay aware of my spending lately has been tracking my expenses.
So, this little cutie right here has been an eye-opener, okay? And what I love about tracking my expenses is that it pretty much forces me to see where my money is actually going because sometimes, y'all, we think we doing okay until those tiny purchases started adding up. So, these for May, I end up starting this and good job. So, I have Kroger's 450 for food.
That was the last time. And then I have Joe Beans for the 11th, which I went today and I got some I got a bag of coffee, but you get a free coffee with it when you buy a bag of coffee. So, I was able to drink some coffee. Um and then like the little runs can be like coffee runs, snacks, convenience spending, subscription, emotional spending. You just pretty much don't realize how much those little purchases add up until you physically write them down. All right, and this is actually why I had created this tracking book um on my website because I wanted something simple and pretty much realistic and something that I can take with me. So, it's not you know, I wanted something not overwhelming, nothing super complicated, just something that helps me become more aware of my habits. So, that's why I have a lot of spaces, and I'm praying and hoping that I don't go more than this for expenses. And then um I do have it where it's needs versus wants, so that way I can see did you really need that, Tina, or was that something you wanted? Could you have waited for that? And I just try to make it as easy as possible in that I can actually just slip it in my small bag. And then also it's like anybody can use this, and you could put your week, and then you could do your category spending on the bottom, and then that way you could do all of your food category, all of your eat out category.
And honestly, if I'm And I'm not just saying it just because I made this, but and honestly, if you're somebody that keeps wondering where your money keeps going, tracking your spending for even 1 month, I'm saying for 1 month can completely change your mindset. I'm seriously, it's completely change it.
So, just give me some I'm going to ask you some questions, and answer either one of them. You pick which one. You do something different. Pick something that you want. So, what category do you struggle with the most? So, let me know in the comments. You can do whatever question you want to answer, okay? And do y'all prefer This is another question. Do y'all prefer cash envelopes or cashless budgeting? That's a good one. And let's see, another one would be have you started Christmas savings yet? Answer either one of these questions, all of them, so I can read it and see where everybody is at. And one last one is what's one thing you want to improve financially before the end of the year. This is a good one.
So, these are some questions. Let me know. Do different ones.
Um I want to know, okay? And honestly, I just want this channel to always feel like realistic, guys, and not like fake perfect budgeting, not aesthetic perfection all the time cuz I mean I do like cute stuff, so we're going to still have some aesthetic stuff. But seriously, just real people trying to do better with money. So, all right, guys. So, that is it for today's real life cash stuffing and budget update. So, guys, if you enjoy this video, sure you subscribe because we are growing a real community over here for people learning money together without freaking judgment.
