[00:00:00]Keep these things in mind if you're reading a book that was written by someone in a different country than you live in. Certain words are spelled differently here in America versus the way they spell it in the UK. And I've just been here cleaning all day, so yes, I have tiny pandas all over my shirt.

[00:00:09]So, while we see some of these differences and don't really pay attention to them, there are some that I wasn't even aware of until I became a published author myself. So, I thought I would do a video and list some of them for you. Most of us know that words like color and favor in America only has an O and not an O, the way that it's spelled in the UK. Some words we have that start with an E here in America will begin with an Oe in the UK, like estrogen, for example. Also, words like pediatrician or amoeba or anemia. That's not spelled wrong in the country that you're in. In America, words like center or theater have an e r where in the UK it has an r.

[00:00:38]I'd seen that before, but something I didn't think about was like the word traveler will have two L's in the UK, but we just have one in America. Also, I believe program has like two M's and an E on it, and we just have an M at the end of program. And of course, Z. We put Z's or they put S. Memorize, customize, realize, we put Z's, they put S. It's not wrong. It's right where you live.

[00:00:59]So, I think I'll make another video on that that deals with commas and just a lot of wording of different things that we say here. I have a little extra additive to that because I am from the southern US and you all know we have our own different kind of language. That's a whole story all on its own. But, as a writer, I do read a lot of indie authors from all over the world and I really enjoy learning about the way that they speak and I, you know, I find it so interesting the different words they use for different meanings that we have and I really enjoy it and I learning about all different kinds of cultures. So, just keep that in mind when you're reading books written by people that live somewhere
