Property taxes can be reduced through multiple strategies: cutting government waste and bureaucracy, implementing exemptions for vulnerable populations like seniors, rolling back mandated mill rates, and encouraging local governments to adopt lower mill rates when property assessments increase. These measures aim to make housing more affordable for seniors on fixed incomes and young people seeking homeownership.

WHAT WILL YOU DO ABOUT PROPERTY TAXES AS MAINE GOVERNOR?本站添加:
Okay, D asks, "Bobby, how are you going to get property taxes down?" So, they're going to do several things there. First, if you cut the waste that we know, tens, if not hundreds of millions of dollars, having been defrauded out of the state budget, in particular in MaineCare, but not just in MaineCare, and you cut the bureaucracy at the state level, which I've done in the federal level, I can most assuredly do it at the state level, we get rid of the dead weight in DHHS and in education and other parts of the of the state budget, ultimately, you can bring the state budget down dramatically. I would like to bring it down by several billion dollars, then opening the door to getting rid of the income tax in the state of Maine, very realistic, and getting rid of the property tax for certain sectors in the state. So, I would like seniors to be exempt from the property tax. They've spent their entire lives paying off a mortgage, raising kids, they own a home, they should not have to continue to pay rent to the government for a home they owned. It's like you and me on this phone or camera here, uh or on your computer. Once you buy it, you should own it. You shouldn't have to keep paying for it over and over. That is especially true when a lot of that money goes to waste in the school system. We had the worst scores in 30 years, and why? Well, because there's a focus not on getting good outcomes, but on being politically correct and doing all these mandated things that the state says you have to do. We're going to stop all of that. So, property taxes are going to come down with concrete exemptions, rolling back hundreds of mills mandates, which in turn lowers the requirement on the town and the county, and then finally working hard to actually get the the towns and the counties to be responsive to state power, state leveraging down those property taxes, encouraging the towns to go with a lower mill rate when they get a higher assessment, so that you can neutralize those two and your property taxes don't go up. At the end of the day, property taxes are absolutely critical. They must be brought down, and they must be brought down for seniors because seniors can't pay on a fixed income for an increasing property tax and it's happening in every single county and young people cannot get a home and have the American dream when the when the property taxes on the homes that they and the buildings and the apartments that they rent have gone up so much that the median income for someone under the age of 35 is $200 below the the median rental. You just can't make the American dream work that way. So, I am fully dedicated to getting property taxes down. That is one of my top priorities.
Property taxes, income taxes, drug traffickers out of here, education back on track and the end of corruption. Or as I like to say, cut crime, cut taxes, cut the nonsense.
