Hey y'all, Shawn in Town here. Welcome to my channel. If you're here for the first time, welcome, welcome, welcome.
Uh if you're a subscriber to this channel, I appreciate you as much as you appreciate my videos. Now, we're going to take a look at a lot of the companies that will be closing stores in 2026, y'all. We The year has really just gotten started. I know we knocked out January, February, March, and all that, April, you know, all that good stuff.
You know, uh if you're watching this in June, we knocked out May. If you're watching this in July, we knocked out May and June. Look, but a lot of companies are going to be shutting down stores, and this is something that you need to know. So, if you're working for any one of these companies, be on the lookout based on where you're located.
Now, I have a big announcement to make at the end of this video, so make sure you watch it till the end. All right? If you didn't hear the big announcement, watch this till the end. All right, so let's get into it.
Stanley Black & Decker is closing a plant in Connecticut, laying off 300 employees. IKEA is closing stores. Francesca is closing.
Saks Off Fifth, Neiman Marcus Last Call, Macy's is cutting 150 stores. Kroger is cutting stores. That's the grocery retailer also known as Smith's.
7-Eleven is closing stores. REI is closing. Wendy's is closing stores.
Pizza Hut is closing stores. Let's go back. So, I didn't know Cro- Smith's? Do y'all know about Smith's? Because I actually I've never heard about Smith's until I went over over on the West Coast. Like, when I'm in Cali and so forth, like and and of course, you know, Arizona and not Arizona, Nevada, you know, I'll see Smith's, but I've never heard about Smith's. And no, Ralphs? Who got Ralphs in the in your city? Because that's where I learned about Ralphs and Smith's, right? But, in here on the East Coast, we don't really have those stores over here, especially in Florida. We don't have those. And let me just say, in over on that side, they don't even have Publix Supermarket. They don't have Publix. If you don't have Publix in your state or your city, you're missing out on a great shopping experience, especially that deli. Let me tell you, Publix, they got that deli down packed, y'all. So, um but, the prices are high as far as uh the store's concerned. I'm just going to keep it a buck.
>> Grocery retailer, also known as Smith's, 7-Eleven is closing stores, REI is closing, Wendy's is closing stores, Pizza Hut is closing stores, Apple is closing select stores, Walgreens is closing select stores, CVS Pharmacy, Rite Aid, Dollar Tree, Family Dollar, Dollar General, Big Lots, Best Buy, Bed Bath & Beyond, Party City, Hold on, y'all. I think Best Buy, let me speak about Best Buy.
I personally think that Best Buy is about to go out of business all the way.
I'm going to keep it real with y'all.
I don't see I I I just don't understand why Best Buy is still a thing in 2026 when there's Amazon.
I don't see how Best Buy is surviving. I went into Anytime I went into Best Buy, anytime I actually say, anytime I go into Best Buy, I barely see anybody in there. And I think And actually, I was talking to one of the uh Best Best Buy employees the other day, and he was pretty chill, y'all. And he was saying, "Look, the reason why Best Buy Best Buy is staying afloat is because of the appliances."
But, let me tell you, outside of that, I don't see how Best Buy is still a thing.
Because you could go on Amazon, boom, get anything you could get in Best Buy in damn near an hour or or or or hours based on the type of account you got with Amazon. But I don't see the reason why people are going to Best Buy. Now I understand a lot of people love to see what they're buying in the tangible form and probably you know you know look at it and feel it or whatnot. But that's a that's a thing of the past man. I feel like Best Buy I don't see Best Buy surviving um you know the next 5 years. I'm just going to keep it 100% if you're a Best Buy employee. Sorry to break the news to you but I don't see Best Buy you know passing the 5-year threshold. I just don't see it. And we're talking 2031.
They shouldn't I what can I say y'all? I'm just going to keep it real. I don't see Best Buy passing 2020 2031 y'all. I just don't see it. Let's continue.
Family Dollar, Dollar General, Big Lots, Best Buy, Bed Bath & Beyond, Party City, Foot Locker, Champs Sports, Kids Foot Locker, The Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy, JCPenney's. Damn, Banana Republic.
That's another one. How are they still open?
I could see The Gap because you know Kanye West, you know he had that deal with The Gap or or that brand you bought.
Banana Republic? What do they sell in Banana Republic? I know I know they sell clothes. But the type of clothes that they're that they're selling nobody's wearing that as much anymore. Now this store is what shocked me every time I see it because I remember when people used to shop there and then you just never heard about them for a long time but somehow someway they stayed afloat, revamped, and now they're making money again. People are shopping there again. And I'm talking about you know Abercrombie.
Used to be called Abercrombie & Fitch.
Abercrombie is a thing now again, y'all.
Abercrombie is back, y'all.
And I see people, well, you know who I'm talking about, the white folks. I see the white folks up in there buying, and they love them some Abercrombie.
And they're buying I went into Abercrombie and came out with a bag load of stuff, because I actually like some of the things that I found in Abercrombie.
Abercrombie made a great comeback. Now, the story that I will say, I think this story is going to go out if look, if they don't have a CEO like Abercrombie, they're going to go all the way out. And I'm talking about Express. Express is so overpriced, y'all. I don't know how or why people are shopping at Express. Whether it's Express for men or Express for women, Express is very overpriced. I don't even go there anymore. I used to go there back in the day, but now, mhm, I'm not going in there anymore. Nordstrom's, Kohl's, Burlington, Ross Dress for Less, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods, GameStop, Office Depot/OfficeMax, Staples, Starbucks, Subway, TGI Fridays, Red Lobsters, Denny's, IHOP, Buffalo Wild Wings, Chili's, Applebee's, and Olive Garden so far have announced store closures for 2026. Of course, this means thousands and thousands of people will be laid off. This will be less money in the economy. If you didn't know, consumer spending is down 14 straight months, and consumer consumer spending contributes 68% of the GDP, the spending. So, if 68% of the of the growth is bad, you know that it's going to be bad. My name's Christina. I have a master's degree in business. We are heading for a recession or even a depression. Please do the best that you can to get your finances in order. Do not spend money. Follow for more. Like, comment, follow, and share.
Store closings doesn't mean we're heading into a recession. I've been hearing about store closing since 2020, 2021. 2020 as a matter of fact. Remember when COVID hit back then? We've been hearing about store recession since then, since 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023.
We've been hearing about recession. No recession. All right, don't let them scare you like that, but at the end of the day you got to be aware of what's going on in the economy. Now, this is what I'm going to tell y'all. If you want to know what's coming in your company, if your company's on some, you know, slash list, meaning they're going to be closing stores and so forth, make sure you stay updated on where you're working, your city, and what your store is about to do. Go on their website, you know, look it up. Look it up with Look, we got Google. Google is free. Look it up on Google. Look what's happening.
Make sure you look up any one of these stores and check to see if there are going to be some store closing in your area and check to make sure that this is not going to affect you directly. All right, so with all these people getting laid off, it's going to be a lot of people coming into the gig gig economy.
Hey, with that with that said, I have a gig group that I just started. That's the big announcement I wanted to make to y'all. I have a new a brand new gig group that I just started on the School app, which is SKOOL, and that's where I created my brand new gig driving group.
