In international negotiations, strategic concessions (such as Iran's agreement to dilute enriched uranium) can serve as diplomatic tools to maintain engagement while preserving core interests, and these geopolitical developments significantly influence commodity markets including energy, agricultural products, and precious metals through supply chain disruptions and market sentiment shifts.

Morning Flash: Iran Eases on Uranium; CPI & PPI This Week; Ira Epstein's Video for 5-11-2026Added:
Good morning. I Rapstein with your morning flash update. And this update is for the morning of Monday, the 11th of May already, 2026, 7:50 p.m. Central time. Sorry I didn't do anything over the weekend. It was Mother's Day. We were buried our first big family event out here in Indiana. My wife has a large family, so there was no getting it and that they were coming over early. It was pretty crazy. Um, I hope you had a great one. So, you know, the the big event over the weekend is that Iran fully threw back the president's proposal, but with one major major concession, and people are not understanding how important that is.
They have finally bent on the idea of giving up some of the enriched uranium.
They want to dilute the rest, but that's a big give. So, now the question is the rest of it. And on the rest of it, while they say no to everything and the US is going to pay the war reparations and all this, you know, that's a bunch of nonsense. It's not going to happen. But it's a way for them to continue to delay. But with that, by giving in on the uranium, they pull the US in.
President Trump this week will visit with Chinese PresidentQi. Two-day meeting there. You know, a topic will be Iran. And given that China is the customer for Iran, and I use the word the in quotes, there could be pressure put on. Let's find a better middle ground here. And we'll see if that all comes about. Do I expect a lot out of this deal? I think it's I think there will be things that uh will will be quite good. Why? Number one, they're not going to meet to have a disaster where nothing gets done. That's the first important thing. This is center stage.
Number two, before the president ever gets on that airplane, all the people behind the president will have made the deals and they know what they're going to sign on. Yeah, there'll be the usual push back between the two for the center stage. You always get that, but expect some deals. Obviously, that could affect the soybean market and it's something you've got to watch. You've got the corn up 3 cents. You've got the meal up today 390. Beans are up a dime. We know that energy is getting the bid because of what's going on with uh all the oil still being held in the straight of Hermuz. Energy prices are already looking ahead now to what's going to happen with CPI and PPI numbers that come out this week. So this is where you start focusing on core numbers. This should be the bleedth through that the market has been waiting on. Just think about this. You're May 11th. The war began at the end of February. So this is about the bleedth through time that we should see and we'll see how much was passed on to the consumer, how much the corporations ate. Those are the things you look at. As for the Fed, remember in theory, Fed Chair Pal's term ends on Friday. Therefore, expect a quick vote in the Senate to pass Kevin Worsh. That could happen as early as today to get this all behind them and get it all set up. So I that's what I expect in the marketplace at any point coming forward.
As for the dollar, this is not what you call a very strong bid off of the no total no totally unacceptable reaction by President Trump. Look at the difference in the silver gold and the copper versus the gold. Copper, by the way, got up to 641 today. the highs what uh about 670 right in that area.
Platinum even came back. It's $50 off the low. So, there are other things at work already in the market. You've got to pay attention to them. As much as we're getting a correction in the stock indices, it's very muted on this news.
So, this has now become old news that the US and Iran don't agree and that they throw deals back and forth. And we all know the game plan. It's no on both sides and they narrow in and narrow in until we'll get to a point where there's a deal. But Iran's game is to keep saying no to get the world to listen that they're trying to do a deal, but the US won't do it. I hope the world's smart enough to see that what Iran is asking for is crazy. Do you want to give them total sovereign control over the straight of Hormuz? Create a toll booth there. If that's what the world wants, fine. Then that's what Iran will get.
because the president was going to turn that and tell the world to go after Iran on that. You can count on that. Um I intend on doing another special report this week. So I I already picked the market that I want to do it on and let you know that.
