This webinar demonstrates how to transform water stage measurements into river flow data by combining Python programming with GIS analysis. The process involves importing raster topobathymetry data and cross-section shapefiles, plotting cross-sections, generating measurement points, and calculating hydraulic parameters including average slope, wetted perimeter, and Manning's flow equation. This methodology enables the creation of flow hydrographs that correlate water stage readings with discharge values, providing essential data for hydrological modeling and water resource management.

Open webinar: Transforming Water Stage to River Flow via Real-Time Python and GIS Analysis - 26 MayAjouté :
Imagine that you want to create a flow hydrograph from water stage but your water stages [music] are every 15 minutes over a period of [music] 3 months. So for a sampling point you will have 1,443 records. [music] And besides this you want to work with entirely your special data that you want to work directly from a shapefile of the cross-section >> [music] >> and over the raster of the topobathymetry. And it's there when you need to know Python. We are going to have a webinar where we are going to do these calculations water stages to flow in Python where we are going to import the raster data and then we are going to import these cross-section. [music] We are going to plot the cross-section and we are going to generate the points over the [music] cross-section and from that we are going to calculate the average slope, the wetted perimeter, and the Manning flow [music] for the all your records of water stages.
>> [music] >> And at the end you are going to have this type of hydrograph where you have the water stages and the correlated [music] flow. The webinar will be the next 26th of May at 6:00 p.m. Amsterdam time. You can register on our webinar site webinars.qatarilabs.com. [music] We hope to see you in this live [music] experience where we are going to develop Python code. We are going to have a further discussion [music] about all the topics involved. Give us a like and follow [music] us if you want more information about water resources modeling using open source software.
