When recovering speech after stroke or brain injury, individuals should not aim for perfection, as striving for perfect speech creates a trap that can lead to silence and stagnation; instead, they should accept that making mistakes, leaving out words, or being unable to finish sentences is normal and acceptable, and this acceptance is essential for making progress in their recovery journey.

Perfect speech doesn't exist—recovery does #braininjury #strokerecovery #speechtherapyAdded:
Hey everybody, Kirsten here to remind you if you are improving your speech with aphasia or after stroke or brain injury, you do not need to be perfect.
That is a trap that will keep you stuck and keep you silent. So remember, if you leave out a word or you make a mistake or you start to say something and you can't finish, it's okay.
That happens and that doesn't mean there's anything wrong. So don't be afraid to make mistakes. You do not have to be perfect. Don't even aim for it.
