When connecting power from a power shed to a Victron Multi-Plus inverter, the earth neutral bond conflict can be resolved by removing the MEN link from the power shed and activating the earth neutral bond through the Victron inverter; the Multi-Plus will then detect the existing earth neutral bond in the workshop and automatically disconnect its own bond, preventing RCD tripping and ensuring proper grounding throughout the system.

Earth Neutral Bond Conflict Issue Is Resolved
Added:Okay, so I'm going to do a follow-up video from the last video I did with the issue of having the earth neutral bond in the power shed here and the earth neutral bond in the workshop and when I plug the workshop power into the input so we can feed some of that power into the multi-plus we were having the RCD tripped out. The video is up on my channel if you want to see that to understand how that works. Now, I've had a few people uh come back to me and say to me the way to fix that is to remove that earth neutral bond from the power shed here as the Victron controller has its own earth neutral bond in it, which we know.
So, they said if you remove the earth neutral bond out of the power shed and then activate the earth neutral bond in the Victron inverter here in the power shed, it will then create that earth neutral bond and be to regulation.
And when you plug the power from the power shed into that plug there which goes into the multi-plus, the multi-plus will detect that power source, disconnect that earth neutral bond because the earth neutral bond is already connected up in the workshop. Now, if you didn't understand that, don't worry about it. For for most people that watched the first video that gave me some of that's um recommendations to do, will understand what I've done. Okay, so let me show you what I have uh how do I word this?
What what's been done? Let's put it that way. So, earth neutral bond needs to be removed, MEN link.
Well, say no more.
I'm not going to go in any more detail about that.
But, we can see that has been uh that is no longer in the power shed.
So, therefore, when we check our we probe our active and earth lines, we can see that we have well, we've got a floating earth or floating neutral we've actually been told it's also called. So, we should be seeing 230 V between our active and our earth, and we are not because we don't have that ground neutral bond.
So, what we do now is Now, I'm not sure if you can see that. I'm going to going to have to do it this way cuz I don't have a wide enough lens on the camera.
We are going to turn on that ground neutral relay, create that bond. So, you'll hear it in the inverter when it when I turn it on.
Hear that clicking? So, that bond is on.
That bond is off. Now, let's have a look at our multimeter.
The bond is off. We're going to turn that bond on.
And we can see we have now got that bond, and we have everything done correctly. Okay, so now that we have that bond in through the multiplus, what I am going to do now is I'm going to plug in this line which comes from the multiplus in the workshop, and that has a ground bonding ground uh I sorry, an earth neutral bonding in it.
So, we are going to plug that in when I can get it to plug in.
Plug that in here.
Now, in There we go.
In the last video, that would trip the inverter.
Sorry, trip the RCD in the in the workshop and this would not change over.
So, let's see what happens.
And it has changed over and it is working and has not tripped the RCD in the workshop. So, what basically that's done now is by switching over, that has seen the the way I understand it has seen that earth neutral bond coming in from the workshop and has disconnected the earth neutral bond in the here. So, we do not have two earth neutral bonds. We've only got the one and that bonding is now done through the workshop feeding in through here.
So, everything should still be fine. So, we're going to double check on our multimeter. So, we've got the power coming in from the workshop and we can see here on our active and neutral lines, we still have our bond. So, that has definitely worked. So, thank you for those people giving me a little run down on some of the functions of the inverter. They I've always manually had the earth neutral bond, but having the multi-plus and the advantage of the Victron multi-plus is we can actually do the earth neutral bond through the multi-plus. So, I thought I would throw this video up for those people that understand this, watched the other video and was screaming out to me to say, "Take this here out >> [snorts] >> and we need to activate that there."
It has worked. Thank you very much for that little video. This is for you.
