Toronto LIVE: Tuesday Morning in the East End into DowntownAdded:
Heat. Heat.
Heat.
Heat.
Hey, hey, hey.
Good morning, Toronto and everyone from wherever the hell it is you're from. It's Tuesday, May double hockey sticks. May 11th, 11:04 a.m. is the time. The temperature is a very nice 11° C.
And I had to do a favor. So, I am over on the east end.
We'll be going for a walk around here.
Let me just make sure the video and audio are coming in a Okay, test was quick.
We seem to be up and running. Good afternoon, everyone. Janette is here.
Alicia, John, Marge, Madano, Shantel, Nicole, Daniel. Man, the sun is bright. I can barely see my screen.
X Glorious and everyone else, thank you so much for tuning in. Hopefully this stream goes off without a hitch or as a few hitches as possible.
I'm in an alleyway here or laneway just north of Danforth Avenue and I'm going to be heading south. Maybe we'll take Jones Avenue. It's been a while since I've walked down Jones Avenue.
Right underneath me is where the subway passes through.
Kaye is a bird is here. Tyler. So yesterday was a total writeoff to me. I spent the whole day just tinkering with streaming setups.
I'm very close to being able to live stream with the Pocket 4.
And not just with the Pocket 4, but with the Pocket 4 in 4K. I was able to get that up and running. There's still a few kinks, but after spending my whole morning and afternoon, all I had to show for it was about 30 seconds of testing in the wild, but it kind of worked.
Not that you guys care about that much, but I care about it.
And there is the legendary Square Boy straight ahead.
There's an old church that's undergone a loft conversion. And I am right in front of Dawnland's subway station here.
Lisa just did the census.
Yeah, I think it's like a $500 fine if you don't do it by day's end. Guess what's sitting on my kitchen counter waiting to be opened up and done. I will cross my fingers and hope that I got the short version.
Sol's nature, welcome to silver tier.
Thank you for joining the ranks of channel membership.
Thank you so much.
That's a really mural.
Little dribbler's world.
But yeah, I was going to post a video this morning, but I didn't actually get around to making one yesterday. Oopsie.
We'll have to do one later today for tomorrow.
Nothing like a deadline to force you to get something done.
I mean, what happens if it legitimately never got mailed to you and they try to ding you with a $500 fine? Then what?
This is Danforth Avenue. I've certainly done my fair share of streaming here, so I'm going to go south at Jones Avenue.
Morning, Vivian Johnson.
Straight ahead is Greek.
Maybe we'll head down to East Chinatown.
That budgy flight. Hopefully not.
I can't imagine they're actually going to be finding people for that. I mean, if you're going to do that, they need to send them out registered mail and at least have proof of delivery, right?
Oh, well, I'm going to do mine as soon as I get home, I guess.
Hey, there's a Blue Jay sweater in that shop.
Despite the heroics of Andres Jimenez, they fell to the Rays last night.
Mario Land asking how I am. So far so good.
It's one of those days where it's nice and warm and you think you overdressed one moment and then the next you get hit with a cold blast of wind and you feel cold.
So, it's just a normal springtime day in the city.
trademarked recently did an urban camping weekend in Toronto. Where was this urban campsite?
This neighborhood on the left is the pocket.
I don't know exactly how the census works. I just know they're threatening me with a $500 fine if I don't do it.
Maybe we should take a little journey through the pocket.
I think I can go this way and pop out just south of here.
I did a video Checking out a house that was recently built by a Toronto local in this neighborhood and he's building another one just south of here in Leslieville. I went back or I went there and met him a few months ago and we did another video of that property.
What area is this? Just go into Google Maps and type the pocket Toronto and this will pop up.
Just taking a little detour from Jones Avenue.
Good morning, Gertes.
Alex says, "There's lots of questions when you fill out the form." Well, there's a long version and a short version, right?
I'm hoping I got that short version.
I think I can go this way and then I can make a right and pop out at Jones. There's not a lot of ways in and out of the pocket, hence the name, the pocket.
It's kind of hemmed in.
Roberian Homeguard.
Good morning.
You're at Queen and Jones, but you imagine I'm turning east to visit Chinatown. That is the rough plan in my head.
But you never know, I guess.
I don't know. It's really not that big a deal. Sit down at my computer for a few minutes, answer a little survey.
This is a really nice neighborhood, though.
The only thing it's missing is being in close proximity to a grocery store. That would be my one hangup of living here.
Someone who likes to walk to get their groceries.
Greetings, Brad Palmer.
Daniel Susie John Kaisa says it's a beautiful day indeed.
It's a nice little setup they got there.
They got those screens for some privacy.
There's a hammock set up. Got their garage laneway right there.
Daniel says, "How far from a grocery store?"
Well, there's like a food land on Danforth, but I guess it might be the Soies on Danforth.
That's quite a ways from here actually.
The Leslieville laundry room washing cold. Are we in Leslieville? I'm north of the rail tracks.
Maybe someone wants to look that up.
It's back to Jones Avenue.
Little peek at what's to come.
It's an old cemetery across the street and we got a view of the CN Tower way off in the distance. So, I think I'm going to head south to Gerard and then I'll head west.
We'll head past the scary square.
Greetings. E do Duncan has come up north. Dunkin Donuts again.
That house would not look out of place in the annex.
Looks a little out of place here, but I like it.
No access to Greenwood Avenue. That's because that's the pocket.
I don't know. I hope they never change that decrepit old Trident sign.
I featured that on a thumbnail before.
We used to have Dunkin Donuts.
We did. It wasn't that prolific at all, though. They only had a handful of locations.
Someone want to look that up?
What number is that?
431 Jones Avenue. I'm going to guess 890,000.
What do you guys say?
How much is the house at 431 Jones Avenue for sale right now?
Avenue is currently listed for sale at $1,149,000.
This semi- detached home in the pocket features 3 + 1 bedrooms and two bathrooms along with a self-contained basement suite. It also includes a unique backyard studio with a sauna, gym, and cold plunge.
>> That was very thorough.
>> 1.149 million. Yep. Madano got it. I guessed 8.90.
I always over guessed, so I decided I thought it was going to be around 1.2 two million, but I have a history of overshooting my guesses. So, I knocked a few hundred,000 off and I was wrong.
Oopsie.
There's the rail tracks up ahead.
Gerard just south of there.
Hello from Stoville. Pistol Pete.
I lived in Stoville for a hot minute as a kid.
I think that's where I went to grade one.
How's the video and audio? No issues.
Not really monitoring it.
Look at this cute cafe.
La Mesa Cafe.
That's a Boltby Avenue.
Oh, now it's a clothing shop.
Artisal objects. Oh, cafe, music, design, fashion, film.
We do it all.
Dal burger.
I cannot pronounce French.
It's a French Catholic school.
plastic bowling pin.
All the things I thought I would see that was not on the list.
Tish says, "What's for lunch?"
I don't know. I'll have to figure that out at the end of this. All I had was a bowl of cereal this morning.
So, after this stream, I'll get some lunch. I'll go home.
I'll try to get a video in because I got plans tonight around 6.
Got to do my census. So, I have a pretty full day already.
Some neat artwork.
Well, it seems I learned that Dunkin Donuts is coming back. A lot of people keep talking about it.
Do I care?
Not really. It's a free market. If they do well, they do well. If they don't, they don't. Just pay your employees properly and treat them well and let the market sort itself out.
Tim Hortons has had a lot of bad press.
There's definitely an opportunity to capitalize on that.
You called in sick today.
Just packing and prepping for a June 1st move.
I live in a building the last day of the month and the first day of the month are always crazy.
The elevators always booked up. The loading bays are used.
Everyone does this dance on the first.
Whenever I move, I like to have a month of overlap between my old and new place.
Yeah, I'm pissing away. One month of rent, but it gives me the whole month to like move [ __ ] over. That's what I did last time.
The elevator is like guaranteed to be free on the day you want to move most of your [ __ ] You can book a truck in the middle of the week or not around the first of the month when they're the most expensive.
It's like nice low stress move.
You can make sure at least it says a full month. Yeah. Well, usually it coincides with the end of the month, right? And the start of the month.
You can get the internet and all your stuff set up and running.
I mean, we weren't talking a whole lot of rent. I was paying like a thousand at the basement apartment I moved from where I was moving to was like 950 a month.
My new apartment that was in like 2014.
Yummy house bubble tea stir-fried specialties.
So there's Riverdale Collegiate.
It's funny. We were walking by places called Leslieville and we were in Riverdale. Now we're in Leslieville and the school is called Riverdale.
Make it make sense.
That used to be a pizza pizza across the street. And I bet they made a killing come lunch hour, but it obviously wasn't enough.
This is Gerard. You could go east here over to People keep telling me to continue down.
I'm going into East Chinatown.
Wellbe family wellness.
Do I have any plans going biking?
Perhaps Gerard Greek Angler Toronto. Is that new?
There's some really neat bars and restaurants in this little stretch here.
Dream Cuts Hair Salon. Men's haircut. $8 and up.
The J Arthur They have a Denine.
So, there was a guy who saved up and made a deal to buy this place. He was going to bring it back to life as a performance venue, but apparently there were so many problems with that property that were not disclosed during the purchase process and it has just sat there vacant. They used to do comedy nights and stuff like that a long time ago. I think it was a cinema, the Grand Gerard.
Now it just sits there vacant.
There is poor Romeo. I've been to that place.
At least it says from the sounds of it, he wasn't prepared for how bad that it was. Yeah, he think it was just a case of he didn't do his homework and the people selling it probably knew full well what was wrong with it and chose to be shady.
Haley with the 199. Thank you for the first super chat of the day. Let's celebrate their fifth super chat on the live stream. Thank you, Haley.
Oriato vaping koi.
And I think Oh, did that place close? There was a place owned by the same people as poor Romeo across the street. It might be that place in in blue over there. I don't know why my camera's wandering around like that.
Sandwiches and pantry.
This is a really neat few blocks of Gerard Street.
The Gardell Wine Bar.
There's a faux restaurant and a two for one pizza in here.
One of the oldest restaurants in the city is coming up.
Yeah, Zach the Jay's lost.
And there was a really friendly gentleman who used to live in Ken's building who sadly passed away, but his name was Rolling with Ian. and he told me about that parking structure over there.
And he mentioned that you get an awesome view of the skyline from over there.
And he was right.
I showed that off in a video before.
Street street car scar street car 506 Carlton.
That would have been an idea for a stream walking the route of the 506 Carlton.
I've done a number of videos through this mall.
Yeah, there's a few people that Ken has met through this community that lives or lived in this building.
Two-piece chicken wings with fries.
$6.99.
It's a student special.
There's a future Ontario line station coming up or the sight of one.
McDonald's. Sometimes it smells so good.
Sometimes it makes me want to vomit.
That's the feeling I'm getting right now. Smelling that.
That taxi was y'all have people to f off.
Angela 279 put towards a drink after your walk today.
Let me heart that.
Thank you, Angela. I'll be picking up lunch and there will be a drink with that lunch after the stream. Thank you so much.
That's neat. Lisa, that guy got lucky. The street car was at a red light.
Pizza pie. That's a Turkish style pizza I ordered off of there not too long ago.
It was uh interesting. Will I order pizza pi again? Maybe not.
Here's a neat little row of retail.
Speaking of good views of the skyline, there's a pretty good one up on that pedestrian bridge over there.
Oh, and I missed the Maple Leaf Tavern.
The oldest restaurants in the city.
Josie's Locksmith.
The Oriental Hair Salon. Ben, 17 bucks.
We just saw a place that was eight bucks.
Oh, >> friendly gentlemen.
So, just beyond here, there used to be a big plaza with the supermarket. There was no frrills in there.
Lisa says, "My audio is quieter today."
Okay, you have your volume higher than usual.
>> Oriental hair salon.
>> I think that's because I was adjusting my streaming server settings yesterday.
I didn't put it back to exactly where it was.
I was playing with the Pocket 4. I managed to get live streaming with it in 4K out in the wild, but there's still a few hurdles to work on with that.
It's not quite ready for prime time, but the audio through that software is kind of off.
Yeah, it should only be about 10 or 15% lower than normal.
Ren name's William.
They're building a train station here.
And if you're familiar with that Drake and Rihanna song, work, the portion of that music video that featured Drake was recorded in this parking lot with him going into this place. The real jerk.
There's where that plaza used to be.
The Ontario line is coming.
Oh, that was like a parkquette across the street. That's all ripped out.
What's going on up here?
It's got a water in the street, I guess.
That's Carla Avenue just south of here for sale. Eddie Chan. So is Eddie Chan for sale or is the building for sale?
That used to be like a clothing thrift shop and cafe. I think the night owl new glamour hair design.
This used to be a beer store.
This building's fairly new.
Beer stores have been closing down all over the place.
Building permit. So something's moving in there.
Retail kind of struggling along this stretch.
beer stores, gas stations.
>> Let's cross the street. We have a light.
This is Logan Avenue.
Merch says corner store sell beer and wine too. That is why all the beer stores are closing down.
But we, the taxpayer, paid hundreds of millions of dollars to wiggle out of that exclusive arrangement a year earlier than we would have been out of it anyways.
Got to love Doug Ford's logic sometimes.
that cafe. That's kind of neat.
Hailed coffee bakery across the street. Oh, over there.
Is that where there used to is that where Bataful is? a very expensive French restaurant. Or is that the next intersection coming up?
I think that's coming up.
I'm going to get you.
>> Okay.
Elias says I just passed it.
Sorry, I missed it.
Oh, there's that restaurant I was talking about.
Didn't know there's two Howlandins. I saw a show in that church, one of those candlelight performances. cuz they invited me and all I had to do is make like an Instagram post and story about it and that I did.
I was like, "All right, I'll go see your show for free."
There's the place, Betty Fo.
It's a very highly regarded restaurant actually.
And this place used to be called Bachen that is now Beep Viet.
This is one of my regular spots with some of my best friends for faux east Chinatown off track wagering station.
Paint your own pottery. These have been like kind of popping up everywhere.
I saw a few places like that on the west end. One in Parkdale and one on Dundas.
Gerard convenience store. Flowers, gifts, balloons, mattress, mattress.
Uh oh. This cafe is closed.
Neither this street or the next one is the north end of Degrassi.
The future is wealth. Simple human connection. Invest in the future.
Whatever you think it is.
It's a very bizarre marketing campaign.
>> Oh, hey. I've seen you on YouTube.
>> Oh, hello.
She just said, "Oh, hey. I've seen you on YouTube.
Yeah, I'm all about Wealth Simple, but I don't quite understand their marketing.
Exotic fish and bonsai.
Janette saw her former home.
Oh, I would have slowed down to take a closer look.
Their marketing is give us your money. Yeah.
But they are so much better in nearly every way possible than the big six banks. I just find their marketing to kind of to kind of be bizarre. Their product kind of speaks for itself.
I think one of the happiest days of my life was when I closed my TD checking account. Oh, I've been with you for 30 years and you don't give a [ __ ] Okay, goodbye. You're making me keep $6,000 in my account, not earning interest just so you can wave a madeup account fee.
I think I saw a stat that said one in five people under 40 are with Wealth Simple, but the majority of the wealth, it's still with the boomer generation, the older people. So even though they they're cornering a huge amount of the younger market, the big six banks don't really feel it because all the older people with the cash are still with them. What's going to happen in 10, 20 years?
Dine and dim.
>> Oh, house. Authentic Vietnamese soup restaurant.
There's some street art of Homer.
How well you guys can see that E over felt the same way about Wells Fargo. You can't wait to dump them.
Although that means Oh, sorry to hear the last part.
Yeah, I think SoFi in the States is pretty similar.
The banks are actually starting to want to suppress Sofi.
Saigon Pie, Second Journey Thrift Charity Shop, The Santos Martial Arts.
Oh, Orics strikes again.
Man, they covered up an awesome mural.
I think it was the Simpsons climbing like an Aztec pyramid.
I don't know.
I'm sure Lisa will defend that, but I think that's a crime against humanity.
I shall not cover up good art with your stupid [ __ ] name.
That would be a rule if I was in charge.
Ear full of horn for that red light running taxi driver.
Now, let's go south here.
South Down Broadway, Broad View.
Oh, hey Janette.
Drove Street East. Great memories for me. Thanks, Johnny.
Oh, Janette, thank you so much for the $10. I keep forgetting you actually lived here. I know you visited here and you came here with the hubby, but thank you so much for the 10.
Cheers, Janette.
Walk and roast Chinese Bang Rang Spa.
Maybe we'll head down to Dundas.
Haley, $15 Tim Horton's gift card. Can I make that a Dunkin Donuts gift card given the news that they're moving into town? Either way, thank you Haley for the 15. Cheers to you.
Arato.
And thank you to all nearly 400 of you tuning in to this Tuesday morning live stream.
There might be a little bit more of this moving forward. I'm still going to do the same number of evening and nighttime streams, but it might be one or two fewer videos per month in the mornings, and instead I'll do a live stream.
There's Hugh's room that used to be on the west end.
They were located into that old temple.
I snuck in there one stream.
And that lady knew what she was doing when she picked out that stroller.
It was like a monster truck, but at the same time, not obnoxiously big.
Perfectly suited for taking your kiddo off and on this street car, I would say.
I don't think I've ever seen one like that.
But little reminder, like, subscribe, hit the bell, all that fun stuff. I'll be live about four times a week, Sunday nights at 8:00 p.m. on the Stumbles Channel.
I've got a few video ideas for that channel. I'm going to get cracking on pretty soon. I've said that before.
There'll be an uptick in content there.
Lady Marmalade. That place gets quite busy on weekend mornings. I think it's quite the brunch and breakfast spot.
wheelbarrow works.
>> I don't know. I thought that was a neat baby stroller.
I used to ride the bus in the mornings when I worked out at Duffren and Steels and there was this lady that had this obnoxiously huge baby stroller >> that she could barely wrangle onto the bus and then it would take up the entire aisle.
It was like just get something more appropriate if you know this is where you're taking your kid every day. But who am I to tell mothers what to do?
K Marie just subscribed. above the East End in Beaches area and miss it now in Kitchener Waterl. Not as cool, but okay.
You guys have a pretty nifty LRT out there. Thank you for tuning in.
My time on the East End will be shortlived as we cross over into downtown. want to cross the Dawn River.
That's Hamilton Street. That's a nice little street. I did a video covering that before.
Last time I live stream along this way was a few months ago.
There were dozens of street cars backed up. There was an incident in Regent Park and the police had closed an intersection.
They were actually having street cars reverse out of the area.
Hello from San Francisco, California.
Come visit us one day. The happy golucky one. Of all the cities in the US, the Bay Area would be on my short list. I would love to ride BART.
And providing you get that orange orangutang out of office and things return to normal, I will probably go visit the Bay Area. Thank you so much for the support and the $4.99.
Cheers to you.
My first exposure to San Francisco as a kid was probably the opening credits to the TV show Full House.
I remember watching the World Between the A's and the Giants when an earthquake struck.
I think it was right at the start of one of the games.
Crazy times, but I'd love to go.
I think I'd do a whole like west city tour. Seattle, Portland, the Bay Area, maybe fly back through Vancouver.
Thank you. Happy golucky one.
And there is the Dawn Valley parking lot.
Traffic is moving well now, but at rush hour you would not be able to say the same.
Yes. Otherwise, the orange man might lock me up on Alcatraz.
What a cool story Alcatraz is.
There's the Dawn River.
Budgy flight with a similar idea, but the Dawn River is the eastern border of what we would consider downtown.
Look at that. Usually it's the sky tower dominating things to the south, but there is one blower west. Look at that monster right at Young and Blure. Speaking of downtown, that would be kind of like the most northern centermost part of it right at Young and Blureer.
Hell of a tough sucker. My first super super chat was when you're on this bridge. Keep up the fine work with the Fiverr in across the pond denominations. Thank you. Hell of a tough sucker. Cheers to you.
I think I remember that.
wasn't that long ago.
Oh, there's like a super high-end car dealership. Jaguar, Land Rover, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Bugatti, Rolls-Royce, Bentley. Here we have an AMG dealership.
There's a BMW dealership across the street.
Bay View Avenue down below.
Uber passenger pickup and drop off.
I think this BMW is new, right? This used to be a Lexus dealership.
You want to test drive your BMW and go sit on the Dawn Valley Parkway and experience some Toronto traffic.
You can spot the CN Tower.
I hope you all could be coming.
And now we've got the Sky Tower.
And straight ahead is the Regent Park neighborhood.
I love it's River Streets.
Uh-oh. Not a good day for the markets.
I wish I didn't check that notification.
Hops Cannabis Company.
So, where did the lower income people from pre-rennovation regent park move to? Well, ideally they are back where they are.
The way that worked was they were relocated not at their own expense and then those units were replaced in newer buildings and they were offered the ability to move back in at the same rent.
That was the solution.
Now, their units, I think, were downgraded in size, but given the conditions and how old they were, getting a nice modern unit, I think, is a fair trade-off. But nobody was displaced.
the Pan McConnell Aquatic Center. That was one of the first places to open during the revitalization of Regent Park.
They got a Wendy's It's definitely a lot less isolated than it used to be.
It's a 505 Dundas Street car that'll be going all the way to Dundas West Station.
And I think this artwork is called Faces of Regent Park.
And this park here is a region park itself if I'm not mistaken.
Alvatsucka says this area is probably the most unrecognizable of all areas in Toronto since 20 years ago.
I would disagree with that, but it's definitely on the short list.
I think the Portland's Bday Sea Park would be my vote for the most unrecognizable.
That was like an industrial dump. Oh, it's a gorgeous public park and soon to be bustling community.
Budgie flight $10. Thanks for the lunchtime stroll, Johnny. Well, it is around lunchtime.
Best of luck with your move and packing, budgy flight. Enjoy your day if you're leaving. If not, thank you for the lunchtime super chat. Cheers to you.
I think If all goes to plan for you, you'll be poking around the Bay Area and some great West Coast cities next year. You mentioned there's a little ice cream shop.
I was streaming up Parliament Street a few weeks ago and walked past a couple of friends of mine. They were getting groceries at the grocery store just up here.
Oh, they're doing a film shoot here.
That's what all these white trucks usually signal, MBS equipment company.
It's nice of that guy to not move at all walking right down the middle of the sidewalk.
If you know what they're shooting here, let me know. I'm sure people in the chat would be interested to hear. It's probably an Amazon or Netflix production, but who knows?
production equipment.
And there's the Freshco where my buddy and his wife were getting their groceries from.
Look at that pair of pants just up in the tree.
That must be for the crew.
That lady was kind of looking at me.
Thought she was going to offer me a coffee.
All right. Do I really want to stick to Dundas here?
Nah, I'm a little bit Dundas squared out.
Let's go north a few blocks maybe to Gerard or to Carlton.
Anga men cut 18 bucks cutting beard at 28 bucks.
Lunch time for these kiddos.
The sign vegetables is up here. VI G.
Hi Johnny. Really big pan watching you from Pakistan. Awesome. We got friendly folks from all over this big blue globe of ours tuning in.
Are they doing that for Pride Month or is that car always like that?
and we walk by a normal police car and it looks like it's trying to be a military vehicle and intimidate the hell out of everyone.
I much prefer the police cars in the UK.
They're bright yellow.
They don't give off the dystopian vibes that ours do.
Oh, there must be something with the street car that would explain the police cars in these TTC response vehicles.
and the disabled street car.
Hopefully, it's just a mechanical issue.
I have my doubts on that.
There's a replacement bus going around it.
Hopefully that's all it is.
as we make it to Gerard.
Yeah, I think I'm going to head up to Carlton. We're not going to go all the way up to Welssley.
They're saying blocked track.
That's probably just a generic phrase that could really mean anything. Like when they say injury at track level, often we know what that really means, but not always.
I've heard good things about this place.
I've never had the chance to go there.
Japanese street food.
As we are passing through Cabbage Town.
That guy said something to me, but I don't know what the hell it was. And I'm not going to stop and find out.
Dream it. Live it.
There's the pigeon.
This is kind of an underwrited rated neighborhood. I know Cabbage Town is certain certainly spoken highly of, but not a lot of people think of this part of Cabbage Town. They're usually just thinking of all the beautiful old Victorian homes.
There is a festival here at the end of every summer.
Welcome to Cabbage Town.
and this is Carlton Street.
But Bats is pissed. Budweiser is even better. That's not saying much. I don't know. Those are all bottom shelf beers.
But on a hot day, as long as they're cold, I won't complain about either one of them.
I don't see them very much.
There's a really good pub just up here on the left. Stout.
When I first moved back here from Korea, I had a friend I worked with who was from Toronto and he moved back here around the same time and before he went on to be a Somalier at a Michelin star restaurant in Yorkville. He was bartending at this place.
came by while he was working a few times.
Good to see it's still here.
Look into Cabbage Town.
And this was a pub that had a neat patio and the owner blamed Mr. Ford's pandemic restrictions. He was very public about it being forced to close but not getting enough of the way of support to keep paying his rent.
And I think it's changed hands a few times since then. Now it's a Peruvian beastro.
Some beautiful old homes.
The next major street coming up is Sherburn.
We'll be entering the Garden District.
Yeah, that's about all I remember of it.
I was struggling to remember the name.
This is Seatan Street, but the Seatan house is on George Street.
Lot of really beautiful old town homes here.
You remember the pan the pandemic when Dollarama closed certain items? Well, retailers were restricted to only selling essential goods.
It was just a crazy time. Let's never revisit that in history or in the future.
And hopefully if it happened again, be a little better about it. Choo Choo Grill.
African and Filipino foods. Atin Company. Never noticed that.
I tried to street view it, but Google is broken. WW.
If you're ever bored and you're wondering what the city used to be like, you can turn back time in Google Street View. It's kind of neat.
They want to build a 48 story tower here. This is a historic building. How dare re real estate developers demolish it?
This is a historic church. Save Toronto's cultural heritage. Contact your MP.
Not your MPP, not your city counselor who you really need to contact.
I don't know. It's just sitting there doing nothing. It's not used anymore.
They're preserving the facade and they want to build housing.
I do not oppose that type of thing.
Nimi, I am not.
Be kind of weird imagining a 40story tower coming out of that. But hey, today's unaffordable, inexpensive housing is tomorrow's affordable housing. in a lot of cases when it comes to highrises. Oh, the Urbanity did an excellent video about that.
There's the Allen Gardens.
There's some people who will yell at you if they see a camera in your hand just over there.
and the Royal Botanical Gardens.
Beautiful spot. I went through there in a prior video.
It's quite the beautiful park. All things considered, they named this entire part of the city after it. the Garden District. I think it's south of Carlton, north of Queen, east of Young, and west of Sherburn.
love your videos. Watching all the way from Mexico.
Awesome. Love that you're watching from Mexico. Thank you.
Now that the weather is so nice.
Perhaps there'll be an uptick in these streams.
I'm going to get out and do one on the ebike.
And I mentioned earlier, I'm also working on some streams with the Pocket 4. This is the Pocket 3 I'm streaming with.
Crystal says, "At least be artistic if you're going to do graffiti."
I know there's a viewer who would disagree with me, but I agree. I hate tags with a passion.
They ruin buildings. They tag over existing art.
But I quite like seeing murals and well done street art.
Angelica says, "Lovely day out today."
It is as we get to Jarvis Street.
Speaking of well done, on the side of the old Primrose apartment building or the Primrose Hotel, now it's Parkside Student Residence that was purchased by then Ryerson University, which is just south of here.
So that Uber just cut in front of that guy, got honked at, and then they honked back at the guy honking at them.
The Golden Diner Family Restaurant that's been there forever.
Hey, it's a place I've never been to. The Oasis Aqua Lounge.
Still don't know who is offering their insurance. Probably Lloyds.
No, I don't bother.
Hello. Church Street coming up.
Jmart Japanese deli and market.
Shop smart shop JMart.
Thank you Haley for the $1.99. Cheers.
I kind of got out muscled being able to cross the street there as we get to church.
Oh, my pinky finger just locked up. Does that ever happen to you where your finger like locks And when you go to bend it, it's like this giant pop that's super uncomfortable.
There's the Grand Old Lady, Maple Leaf Gardens.
Chris Mills is at Toronto's Pulson Pier.
Little Sky Tower love.
Got your pinky. Usually your thumb.
That's arthritis. I don't know if that's what that is.
>> I held my hand in like a the same position holding on to my phone for like probably an hour without moving it and my finger just decided I'm now stuck in this position.
They're still showing Nirvana, the band to show the movie. Ghost in the Shell, Spirited Away, Before Sunrise, Tears of the Azer Sea, Mile End Kick, Super Mario Galaxy, Hokum, MK2, One sec.
There we go. Got the chat back.
Welcome to downtown. Hey.
All right, I'll walk one subway stop. Do I want to go south or do I want to go north? I see construction south. Let's go north. Ron Sexmith's new album is out. Playing Massie Hall in the fall.
>> I heard about Rooms. I haven't watched it.
Someone said I should and that it was pretty good.
>> 200 bucks. We're just going to go north up to Welssley and we'll call it a day.
It's always a decent amount of people out on Young.
Japanese udon and tempura restaurant seems to be doing quite well across the And now my thoughts shift to what I'm going to have for lunch.
I'm trying to tell you right now What a beautiful day for a stroll.
I got 18% battery life left on my streaming camera.
How's the video been? Without issue, I watched the last one I did. There were a few little hiccups and pauses, but for the most part, it was pretty good.
Fujik, Korean street food.
Yeah, I made a point of keeping the camera away from that guy's glaze gaze.
I think he just said, "F something. I'm going to rob you to those girls in front of him.
Yeah, what the hell? Let's just go all the way up to Young and Blure.
So, we started at near Jones and Danforth, went down Jones to Gerard, west through East Chinatown, southbound Broad View, then west on Dundas to Parliament, north up to Carlton, west to Young, north up young to Blure.
Video is great. Ads from YouTube are obnoxious.
Well, those ads keep the lights on.
How much is YouTube Premium? Like $13.99 a month. If you don't like the ads, I think it's and you watch a decent amount of YouTube. I think that's the way to go.
Premium nukes the ads and includes a music service that's comparable to Spotify.
And it still supports the creators you watch.
So don't really want to be pimping out a service for the world's richest company, Google, but his market cap surpassed Nvidia.
I think that's the way to go if you watch a lot of YouTube on the big TV at home. I watch more YouTube than anything else combined.
Although YouTube music seems to do nothing but suggest Blood Hound Gang to me these days.
And we are at Irwin Avenue or Gloucester Street on this side.
Lisa knows because you pay for your dad's recently and the family plan you've been on for 10 plus years. It got busted.
But yeah, YouTube music alone kind of pays for itself. Like there was a time when Spotify had the biggest library and was clearly the best, but I think those days are gone.
Amazon Music, which I don't think is quite as good, is included with Prime, but they have a premium tier they want you to get onto.
I don't know those big companies I show no loyalty. just go to who gives me the best deal and the best service.
>> We'll be ready to be hungry.
I need to put it.
Oh, something smells so good.
Monga fried chicken.
And she didn't even >> Oh [ __ ] I got to do my census. Note to self.
First thing after lunch, do your damn census.
All right, Angela, thanks for the super earlier.
share my thoughts on the new Air Jordans.
>> Um, I don't have any around the top of the Hello and thank you to our mods this stream, Marge, Madano, Vivian J.
Thank you guys.
But >> it's turning out to be a pretty nice day. If you're in the city or somewhere where you've got nice weather and you're able to, I say get out and take a nice little walk or a long one.
On this one, I've done about 11,000 steps.
>> That'll probably be about half my total for the day.
You guys went out.
>> Lisa says, "Long one eventually. Camera in hand."
Mr. Digital Nancy's Johnny Strides is in the Young and Blue area right now.
Indeed, that is an astute observation.
I'm very very fortunate to get to go for a walk around this beautiful city on a nice day.
Ruito, Ruino, I want to say thank you for your super chat right at the end of my live stream last week. You're sending another one, but before I thank you for this one, I want to thank you for that. I had disconnected my streaming camera, so I couldn't come back and thank you personally, but >> I tried my best.
But thank you, Ruito, for that one. And this one, honey, happy Tuesday. I wanted to let you know that I got your thank you on the stumbles and I'm welcome the super chat for lunch or whatever. You're getting this. Also have an Aussie Guido.
Always a pleasure. Thank you so much.
I'm going to be picking up my lunch. I'm probably going to pick it up in Midtown somewhere and then just walk home. I need to stop and pick up a few things from the store as well.
make sure I'm not getting in anyone's way.
But thank you so much, Ruido. And thank you to everyone else who tuned in.
Everyone else who sent support, mods, Patreon supporters, please do me a favor. Hit that thumbs up, subscribe, click that notification bell as well.
I got a census to go home and do.
Hey, Chris the Pepsi driver. Relle, you know the stock market is painfully red when Johnny pulls a morning stream. Oh, I found out it was painfully red when I got notifications that some of my holdings were noseding.
Oh well. This is why you should just buy cage and forget, right?
just by cage subreddit.
If you know, you know. Anyways, thank you guys so much. Mods, Patreon supporters, channel members, like, subscribe, hit the bell, leave a comment if you would like as well. Thank you Rigguido for your second super chat.
And I will be back, maybe streaming tomorrow. If not tomorrow, probably the day after. If not, then then I don't know. Consider me dead. Anyways, thank you so much guys.
Yoink.
