I Didn't Know LOVEBITES Could Be This Beautiful

[00:00:50]Before the storm, I'm sure.

[00:01:03]Really nice keyboard part.

[00:01:05]I'm assuming that's Miyako playing that.

[00:01:09]Oh, and I just heard something really interesting there.

[00:01:12]Uh we heard the amen uh chord progression there. Um which usually uh ends with a 5-1 in the chord structure, the fifth note of the key and the first note of the key.

[00:01:26]Um and I believe it's the four that comes before that. Sometimes it can be a one. It can go 4-5-1.

[00:01:33]Those are the numbers of the chords in the key. Sometimes it can just go 1-5-1.

[00:01:48]There was that amen sequence right there.

[00:03:16]So, we've got a rock power ballad by Lovebites. I am really digging that.

[00:03:21]That sounds so amazing and so cool.

[00:03:24]Asami's voice here at the beginning.

[00:03:27]At first, you know, I I know Asami's the singer, but at first when I'm listening, I'm like, she was singing in in a whole different style for her, and I didn't quite recognize her voice.

[00:03:38]I'm like, is that Asami or is that somebody else singing here? Um that is so cool when you have a singer of a group that can kind of make themselves sound a little bit different on a different song.

[00:03:50]And we're really hearing Haruna play some amazing things back there on the drum set. It's not just that fast speed kind of metal stuff. You know, she's really putting a lot of thought into what she's playing. Not that she doesn't normally, you know, normally those patterns are just so tight, so the same, and so fast, and it has to be that way.

[00:04:13]But we get to hear, our brain gets to understand because it's a lot slower, what Haruna is really doing here. And she's really accenting what the band is doing here so nicely with the guitars and the bass.

[00:04:28]>> [music and singing] >> Those were great examples right there, the accents.

[00:04:35]>> [music] [singing] >> Great timing on that fill.

[00:04:42]>> [music] [music] [singing] [music] >> This is pretty epic.

[00:04:59]>> [music] [music] [music] >> Nice. We had a little shift there as far as key goes. We went up uh a little bit, maybe a whole step from what we were doing. Um I loved hearing this guitarist solo.

[00:05:44]Once again, because this is a slower like power ballad that we have going on here, we really get to hear what these world-class musicians, these ladies are doing.

[00:05:55]You know, I mentioned Haruna before, but now we're talking about the guitar players, Miako and Midori.

[00:06:00]We have this beautiful melodic line that they're playing on the guitar, and they're they're playing it together. So, you know, we have what sounds like a chorus, a duet of of guitars. And they're playing this melody together, and it's just a very beautiful soaring melody. You know, we're not getting too technical. It's more melodic in this one, and I like that. And and boy, that really just shows off what these two ladies can do because we know that they can do amazing technical things at a high speed. And now we've got a slower speed, and they're showing us their other side, this very beautiful melodic guitar playing. And and that takes a lot of skill to be able to go back and forth and play things like that, both of those types of things.

[00:07:04]>> [music] >> Okay, so that even though we've got this very melodic part going on here, all of a sudden, we've got, you know, this run. It's beautiful run. It's so together.

[00:07:33]And it just really shows off their skills and their techniques. We hear them go crazy like that whenever they're doing um you know, fast songs but now we're we're really getting to hear each of those notes in those runs because we've got a slower speed here.

[00:07:52]>> [music] >> I mean that's awesome, right?

[00:08:07]>> [music] >> Oh man, that is so good.

[00:08:15]>> [music] >> What a build up to the end of that solo, right? What a build up? Just so many different runs and starting on different notes and and creating more runs from those different notes and it just kind of rose and built up to the end to where we're coming back to what we were doing here with the Asami singing and everything just kind of calm. That was a very tasteful great solo.

[00:08:47]Beautiful melodic lines but then throwing in those runs at the end just to kind of cap all that solo stuff off was was pretty awesome. I loved it.

[00:09:10]>> [music] [music] [music] >> So I keep I keep going right along with their accents because I can hear the pattern and I can hear the patterns repeating. So I'm just kind of counting in my head those counts to where it's going to happen again.

[00:09:31]And man, all these ladies are so together and they they're doing what I'm doing. They're counting all those counts, so they know exactly where they're accenting those those notes that they're playing together.

[00:09:43]And I love the fact that they do that.

[00:09:44]You know, they've got their own thing going on here in the song with the different instruments playing the different parts, but then they come together on those notes and they're accenting that. And it just kind of pushes us to the next part. I love that.

[00:09:58]>> [music] [music] >> Great fill by Varuna.

[00:10:09]>> [music] >> Love that symbol work.

[00:10:18]>> [singing] [music] >> Oh, that was very unique and different, right? I'm so not expecting that. Just that open section and a couple notes rising up with the song in his voice.

[00:10:36]Everybody kind of accenting along with her singing.

[00:10:39]And now we're coming back to what we were doing. That was really unique. I did not expect that part to be in there.

[00:10:44]Very cool.

[00:10:48]>> [singing] [music] >> That just kind of makes us feel even more epic.

[00:11:01]>> [music] [singing] [music] [cheering] [music] [music] >> Oh, that was a great part there, too.

[00:11:23]Just a little bit of a syncopated feel with those accents with the drums and the music.

[00:11:27]You know, they they were still moving this forward, but just a slight pause has really made this build up even more epic.

[00:11:42]>> [music] [music] [music] >> Oh, and I just kind of noticed that that the guitar parts are going right along with those notes right here at this spot that the song is singing. They're in that same range. So, they're just just kind of melting together so nicely.

[00:12:22]>> [music] [music] [music] [music] >> Wow.

[00:13:17]That is really good.

[00:13:19]>> [music] >> I'm I'm really digging this this solo part that's going on here. It's basically a kind of like an encore to what they did earlier. There's parts of what they did earlier in this ending, but then they're adding some more stuff in so that this solo reminds us of the solos they took, but they're they're different, too, because we had those two guitars playing together on those those melodic lines. But then we got into that um more rock sounding guitar, a little bit quicker, and now we're kind of getting something even more epic here at the end where both guitars are playing this part. Really cool stuff. I love the guitars. Uh Miho and Midori are just incredible musicians. They all are.

[00:14:04]They're world-class. I say it all the time.

[00:14:09]Great rock sound here.

[00:14:25]>> [music] >> So good, [music] right?

[00:14:47]These guitars sound so good together.

[00:14:57]There's those lush melodic lines they play together earlier.

[00:15:07]>> [screaming] >> And right here at the end, we start to get that amen cadence again before the end.

[00:15:23]And I think earlier I had mentioned about the 4-5-1, we can do that, sometimes 1-5-1. But, the four is what really makes it.

[00:15:31]So, going from a four to a one is really what that amen cadence mainly is. Four and one. And, you know, depending on what key you're in, if you're in the key of C, then that's going to be an F chord to a C chord. 4-1.

[00:15:48]Um I'm not sure what key they're playing in here, but generally they do not play in the key of C. They're playing in some really harder keys like B or F sharp, things like that. Let's listen for that amen cadence here.

[00:16:02]>> [screaming] >> So, that that whole ending that we heard there with the keyboard, that was playing that amen cadence.

[00:16:24]An amen cadence is a really, really cool, but you generally do not hear that in rock music like this. You do not.

[00:16:34]It just doesn't exist.

[00:16:36]Um I think that was very interesting that these ladies chose to put an amen cadence right in the middle of their well, not in the middle of their song, but right after the introduction of their song.

[00:16:48]So, they had the introduction, then they had that amen cadence. And then we revisited it at the end. They played the amen cadence to completely finish the song. That makes total sense because a lot of times when you hear church music like that, the amen cadence is always at the end. Right? That makes sense. So, this was pretty cool.

[00:17:09]I did not think we were going to get like this power kind of ballad, rock ballad from Love Bites. I haven't heard too many like that. They They have them, but I haven't heard too many like that.

[00:17:21]I'm just always used to, you know, them just ripping it, man, and just going, right? Just super fun stuff. This was fantastic song. Thanks, Guy Gorley, for the suggestion and for being a member on YouTube and Patreon. I really appreciate it.
