Story 766 | Is, Am, Are, Was, Were + ing | English Grammar | English Story for Kids追加:
Hello students, how are you all? Hope you all are doing good. In today's class, I will explain you when to use is, am, are, was, were, plus ing. Let's look at the pictures and read the sentences.
The boys are playing football.
The baby is sleeping.
I am reading a book. In all these sentences, when is the action taking place? Now, before.
Let's understand the above sentences tell us that the action is taking place as we speak. We use, am, and are with the ing form of doing word to talk of things that are happening now. And we use was and were with the ing form of the doing word to talk of things that happened some time ago. To understand more accurately, look at this table. Is plus ing used with one. Example, Arjun is listening to music. Was plus ing used with one. Example, the child was laughing.
Am plus ing used with I. Example, I'm walking with my dog. R plus ing used with more than one. And you example, we are taking a walk. You are carrying the wrong bag. were plus ing used with more than one and you. Example, they were waiting for me. Mary and I was studying.
Let's practice. Fill in the blanks with is and or are and the ing form of the doing words given in brackets. I'm doing number one sentence for you. We dash Dash go to the market are going. My mother dash dash wash her car.
Nina dash dash study for a test.
You have to send both the correct sentences on this email ID.
Now it's a story time. So let's get started.
One afternoon, the fox was walking through the forest and spotted a bunch of grapes hanging from a lofty branch. "Just the thing to quench my thirst," said the fox. Taking the few steps back, the fox jumped and just missed the hanging grapes. Again, the fox took a few paces back and tried to reach them but still failed. Finally giving up, the fox turned up his nose and said, "They are probably sore anyway." Then he walked away. Moral of the story, it's easy to despise what you cannot have.
