How Owning Property Changed My Visits To Liberia | Modern Liberia TV#monroviaAjouté :
Family, welcome back to the channel. I hope you guys doing well and doing good.
If you new here, just seeing this face for the first time, here is all about Liberian's development. If you like development in Africa, you like to see what is going on, we like to bring it to you as it is. So, on here we talk all things Liberia. If this is the kind of things you like to see, please stick around, subscribe, like, comment, and share the video with your friends and your loved ones.
>> [music] >> All right, guys. [music] So, today I want to talk about my own personal story when I first started going back home. I mean, because I live abroad and I didn't go back home for some time. And one day I decided to go back home and, you know, just see how my country is. Um it wasn't an easy ride at all. There was lots of challenges and that I could have put in place before going back home. Not going back very long time and one day you decided to go back home, you just going to know that there are lots of things.
That's when you realize, that's when I realized that there are lots of things I should have put in place long before I even decided to go back home. The reason I'm making this video is because I know lots of us, lots of you guys are in the same position that I was in when I went back home few years. And this is what make me to even take a bold step to develop, to do things that, you know, it just give me a whole new brand perspective in the sense that I needed to put certain things in place if I wanted to enjoy going back home. Because where I came from, so I will always want to go back home and I will always want to feel relaxed, comfortable when I go back. It wasn't an easy ride after many years, as I said, years going by and not getting not having anything to fall back home.
In a sense that you don't have a house. You don't have your own comfortable place that you can go and relax. I was relying on I was relying on renting a place, renting a hotel, renting a um a place that I could lay my head. And not only that, I wasn't even alone. So, I had my family with me. So, now I had to um look for a bigger place, a better place, a comfortable place, a place that I will feel comfortable while I'm at home. So, all of those things came with stress.
This is what I am making this video because I know there is someone out there. You haven't started the process.
You delaying. You saying, "Okay, I will do it next year." And next year is the following year. So, this video is for you. So, going back on my holiday, as I said, the first time make me realize in a whole way, realize uh lots of things I was making out missing out on. And I know it going to resonate with somebody some of you because I know there are lots of people that have been in my shoes at this experience. Like it really make me to realize the importance of owning a property back home. This is not just about building a house. It is about the peace of mind, the stability, the dignity, creating something for yourself and your family. It wasn't an easy thing, as I said. It was um the inconveniences, times that I wanted to be alone. I couldn't be alone because now, if you're in a family place, you definitely you're not going to be alone.
People are going to be in and out. So, if you don't have your own place, expect that you're not going to have that privacy most of the time. Even the stability, I mean, like for your family, friends, for your own self. Look at it this way, you have a different lifestyle now. You have a different way of doing your own thing. So, if you don't have your privacy, you don't have your own space where you can breathe, where you can just relax, you're not going to enjoy that peace of mind. You're always going to be stressed out. You're always going to be on edge because you think that um you are not doing certain things right.
If you have your own house, you can decide not to have visitor visitors at certain time. Decide not to have um people coming to you unexpectedly.
You can limit some things. And this is when I realized that it was about time that I take the bold step to do what I needed to do. It was very important. Not just that, there were other factor. I saw people that not even came from Liberia were living comfortable, living the life that I wanted to live back home. You don't have your own place or your own space where you can relax, you can go to at the end of the day. If you don't have that place, it's just going to be too much. If you are relying on the hotel, it's going to cost you more.
Let's talk about food. If you are eating out every day, you spend more. Buying food for yourself and your family is very, very expensive. And then you have your extended family on to treat. So, adding up is also not cheap. Cooking becomes difficult when you're not in your own place because you don't want to um what's the word? Not have your own space, going to be difficult because maybe it's not even your way of cooking. When you don't have your own space, you depend on others people's schedule. You end up buying food outside every single day.
Before you know it, your budget is disappearing. Staying with your family, you love them. You love them. You want to be with them.
But, sometimes you just need your own space. Staying with your relatives can become very uncomfortable.
And lack of privacy affect the relationship as well. Don't have that privacy, you now start feeling um It becomes family expectations becomes hard. You are not in your own space, you have to provide every day.
Your budget now is running on deficit because you have to include the extended family. Not a bad thing to include them, but this was not in your budget. They expect more of you.
More spending, more everything.
Talk about transportation. The spending never ends. From the day you get there, the spending never ends. If you're going to town, you have to rent a car, you want to pay for the hour, whatever transport um transportation me- needs you you you need. If you don't have your own transport, you're going to pay. And all of these things going to take money from you.
So, daily spending never ends. It never ends. Transportation costs, paying drivers, taxi, it's just too much. You don't have your own base or transportation plan.
Every movement costs money. From visiting family to checking land and running errands, transportation drains your budget. Now you're in a hotel or you're in a Airbnb.
It costs a whole lot. Some people would charge a night $150, $100, $75. If you are going for 2 weeks, 4 weeks, for example, you find a place for $75.
Times that 75 by 30, excluding transport, food, entertainment, your own house, you're going to spend less. The only thing you're going to be spending money on is your eating and your going out. So, for family, you can decide giving them some money. That is not in your budget, but you do it when you feel like it. I'm saying all of this to say that owning your own property is very, very important. The main lesson here is owning your space. Owning your property changes your relationship with Liberia.
Because you're going to enjoy the place.
You're going to feel more secure visiting. You're going to save money long-term. Travel with peace of mind.
Liberia starts to feel like home because you're not under pressure. You're not spending unnecessarily or you're not spending too much. Not draining your budget. So, it helps to, you know, put you in a safe place because you are going to save a lot of money. So, you own your own place. Guys, it is very important for you as a Liberian and going back owning your own space, owning your own property. Build if you have If you don't have the money, you can take it step by step just to get something where you know that that thing is for you. You can lay your head down anytime you get to Liberia. This is very, very important. So, I hope this lesson or this topic or this whatever what is discussed here today, I hope you take something from it because owning your own property is very, very important.
It's going to help you in the long run.
Help you to enjoy your holiday. It's also going to help you to feel relaxed, enjoy the place, enjoy Liberia, enjoy what you went for. It's also going to put extra money into your pocket. Have your own place and some of your friends want to come over for vacation, you can rent one or two rooms to them, which will help. So, you are not at a loss, not you are at a gain, gain. You are going to gain. You have done the work and it is time for you to enjoy. So, owning your own property takes stress from you and it's also going to put you in a that good mental space. I hope this video brought you some kind of perspective when it comes to building in Liberia. I think that every Liberian should have a property in Liberia. Other people call it their holiday home. Do you have a Liberia? Have a property in Liberia. If you are not in Liberia, you can always rent your property and make you some money. Liberia now is developing. This is developing, especially Monrovia.
Everywhere is developing. So, things are not like before. The house that you build, that house can give you an income. It can give you a residual income. It can bring something on the table. It can help you to put something on the table.
And if you even want to take it to another level, you can build more than one. You can build two, three, four, five, the amount that, you know, you can afford.
It can happen. I mean, there are other people doing it, so you can do the same.
So, anyway, guys, I will end the video here. I hope this video inspires you to, you know, think outside of the box and, you know, think in that direction. I know how it was difficult. Even if your family will have a house there, you're not going to be relaxed, comfortable.
You're not going to have your own space, that privacy that you really want to have, because you've got people, your extended family, all surrounding you. I hope you took something from it and think about owning the your own property. Think about that. Think in that direction. I want to believe that most people now are going towards that direction, which makes it really, really wonderful. Just want to share those people in the process. It's not easy, especially when you are not living in Liberia. It's not easy.
But, you are doing it. That means you're going to get there. You're going to be successful when it comes to that. Once you put your mind to it and you stick at it, it's all going to come together.
Don't get discouraged.
Don't let anyone discourage you. Keep at it until you win. I hope you like this topic. Please, let me know what you think about the video. Lots of other things that I haven't said, I haven't added to this, and I know that you want to say something, so let's have that that discussion. Let's discuss it. I'd love to hear from you. If you are building in Liberia, tell me. If you want me to showcase your property here to inspire other people, send me that email or send me that comment. I would love to do that. I will see you in the next one. You have a lovely and a beautiful day. Bye.
