This analysis effectively exposes the dangerous intersection of religious trauma and mental health, where the pursuit of martyrdom becomes a tragic substitute for professional healing. It serves as a sobering reminder that faith communities must stop weaponizing personal crises for theological agendas.

Leaving for Martyrdom? Ex-Gay Christian TikToker Griffin talks spirituality, purity culture, and god
Added:Hi, my name is Griffin and I am a Christian content creator. This is my last Tik Tok post for a while, maybe for good. I'm not sure yet.
But I'm moving away from home for 3 months to go in the next step of my walk and journey just with Christ and following him.
When I die one day, if there's one thing alone that I want to be remembered for more than anything, it's not, "Oh, he was a good person. Oh, he did good things. He gave back to the community.
Oh, he did nice things. He was a nice person." No, it's that he loved the Lord so much. One of the greatest honors [music] one could possibly do is to lose their life for Jesus. [music] I want to go to the Middle East full-time one day.
The most dangerous [music] place in the world to preach the gospel.
>> Hello and welcome to Unreligiously. My name is Lauren and today we are going to be doing a review of somebody that I made a video on in the past. On this channel I do talk about evangelicalism in America and religious movements in America, religious deconstruction and things along those lines. And Griffin is somebody that really falls into the conversion, deconversion, conversion, deconversion camps. He has kind of gone back and forth throughout his history on the internet.
And where we left off last, we learned a lot about Griffin. He had come onto the internet, he had shared that he had um an autism diagnosis as well as some speech issues. I share this with you guys at the beginning of this one just like I did, I believe pretty early on in that last one, because people often do accuse Griffin of being drunk in his videos or on substances because he is slurring his words. To Griffin's credit and just my time around people on substances, I do not get that vibe from Griffin. I do think that he is being honest that there are not substances involved. So, I am letting you guys know that up front that I do think that he is sober, but Griffin has kind of gone back and forth since my last video. In my last video, we talked about how Griffin had joined the ex-gay movement. Really, this movement of people saying, "I am same-sex attracted. That doesn't mean I'm gay cuz that's a choice. Being same-sex attracted not a choice gay, a choice according to them. And so, they choose to follow the faith and just be celibate essentially or get into what now culturally is kind of described as a lavender marriage, which is where somebody that is, you know, two queer people might choose to be in a heterosexual marriage because of society, because of culture, because of the pressure to conform. So, that is where Griffin was, and I do want to say he did go back a while ago. Those videos are deleted. He actually he did recently get his account deleted. So, it's really hard to go back and find those old videos, but he struggled with this. He struggled with his faith. He struggled with his sexual orientation. And, you know, my opinion up front for you guys is one, I never tell you guys or I try not to. Um, you know, I don't want to tell you guys what to do. And that that first of all starts with your faith walk. This channel is meant to be educational. It's meant to be a jumping-off point, a discussion point, but it might not be the end point for you. You guys might develop different beliefs than me. You might land being a Christian. You might choose to be I don't know, like an angry internet atheist. Like, you guys, you know, we don't all have to land in the same place. But, my concern for Griffin is that I do think it is possible to be queer and be a Christian. I think there are really, really valid theological lines of thinking on this before I fully left the church. I actually came to that conclusion that I believe that it was okay biblically, and that was with me doing a lot a lot a lot of research. Um if you guys want a great introductory pastor who talks about this, especially if you're dealing with these issues at all, or you have a family member who is, Pastor Brandon Robertson does a really great job breaking this down and talking about it, and he has written several books, which I have personally read. The Gospel of Inclusion is one of them, and I highly recommend them. As somebody that is agnostic, I still found so much benefit and deconstructive benefit, even though I don't believe in God anymore, so much benefit on actually learning what the scripture really does say about it. So, those are my concerns for Griffin, right? It's not that I want him to be an atheist. It's not that I want him to be, you know, he's really anti like pride parades or something. So, like it's not that I want Griffin to be running a float, the top float of the pride parade, but it is that I want Griffin to be aware that there is very much, you know, a real world in which he can have both. That he can have a close relationship with God if he wants that, and he can also um find the love of his life, who might be a male. So, let's dive into it. This is Griffin's update, and I do want to say, stay tuned because at the end of this video, or towards the end of it, Griffin actually does say he's going offline. He doesn't know if he's ever coming back, and I kind of believe him. I really do, and I also have some really pretty major concerns for his mental health. So, we'll break all of that down at the end, but for now, let's just dive into it.
This is us revisiting Griffin.
This is him over the last few months.
>> Hi, my name is Griffin, and I am a Christian content creator.
I just actually had my back out banned because I preach about how Jesus saved me from the LGBT community. So, this is exactly what a lot of social media does is they do not support biblical truth. And you know what? I will keep on speaking up and I will keep on preaching about Jesus, no matter how much the devil tries to hold me back.
And I just pray that this new account can just be again a consecration to Jesus and about truth and to preach about the truth who is Jesus.
My joy is Jesus. My joy does not come from social media.
So, while I'm not shocked, I'm also not upset because at the end of the day, Jesus is still king and he is still lord of my life and I will still continue to talk about it until the day I depart from this earth. So, I just want to Yeah, consecrate this account to Christ and >> Once again, I want to point out that Griffin has addressed his speech slurring and kind of speech patterns several times. I am inclined to believe him because although it is you know, present, it is something that people have noticed and brought up. Um it is incredibly consistent, whether you're on his live videos, which I've popped in on his live videos before, in the morning, in the afternoon, or in the evening, it's all the same. Whether his video is him in the morning, afternoon, or evening, whether he's dancing, whether he's talking to the camera alone in a room, or he's got a friend there with him. It is all the same. And so, that to me is to his credit. It's just I believe him.
That being said, um him consecrating this account to Jesus not anything new.
We've seen it before and I think, you know, partially Griffin maybe really does have this passion for religion. I do believe that he does want a spiritual connection with God. He wants to be a good person. And you know, when you wrap that up with religion, part of that it can get very controlling, right? Like when I had an obsession with being a good person, that extended to the type of modest outfits that I would wear. Am I including Jesus in what I'm dressing in this morning? Am I reading enough of my Bible? Am I declining to go to movies with my friends that don't honor God? Am I looking up books before I read them to see if they honor God? Do my friends all believe in Jesus? Because it in adulthood really and childhood too, all of your close friends, they want, you know, to be close followers of Christ as well and preferably from your same denomination. Because there can be quite a variety denomination to denomination, even within the same church, but it's much more controllable when it's in the same church. They can kind of keep an eye on it. So, for me, I'm concerned that Griffin serving God, wanting to be moral, wanting to be good, wanting to be a good person, that to him he feels that needs to extend to his sexuality. I don't know the right way to word this, so I need you guys to give me grace with it, but I just have concerns that he feels that it is morally wrong, which I I shouldn't say concerns. We know that Griffin thinks it's morally wrong to be queer. We know that Griffin has said that he does have same-sex attraction. I'm using the verbage because that's what Griffin uses. So, again, give me grace with this one, you guys. I think hopefully, you know, I want this conversation to be more important than me, but also if you have corrections for me, do feel free to comment them because I would like to get better and learn. Just be nice to me cuz I'm sensitive. Griffin, I'm scared that because he feels it's morally wrong, that is right, the reason. And I don't I don't know the right way to word it. I don't want to say I know because I'm not in Griffin's head, but also when I say concern, it feels like I'm undermining it because he has really spelled it out pretty clearly for us. So, let's dive into the next one. These do get more meaty, but I think that first one is a really good one to start you off if you've never seen Griffin before because Griffin comes in with the passion.
>> When I die one day, if there's one thing alone that I want to be remembered for more than anything, it's not "Oh, he was a good person. Oh, he did good things.
He gave back to the community. Oh, he did nice things. He was a nice person."
No, it's that he loved the Lord so much.
So much so that it convicts me and inspires me and encourages me to seek out the presence of God. When people look back on my life and then everything that I've done, everything that I stood for and believed in, I want them to say this, that Jesus was truly his Lord.
Jesus truly was his savior.
Jesus truly was the one he worshipped more than anything.
I don't want to worship being good. I don't want to worship validation or acceptance or fitting into the society and in the culture of this world. The one thing that I want to worship more than anything is my king and my savior, Jesus Christ, the son of God.
>> The first thing this brings to my mind is Charlie Kirk. And the reason why is because after Charlie Kirk passed, one of the main clips that was circulating of him was of him saying this quote that after he dies, the one thing he wants to be remembered for is his faith. I actually kept waiting for Griffin to say that, and I don't think he actually used the word faith. He said my love of the Lord or faith in the Lord or something like that.
But to me, he's kind of co-opting that sentiment, and it doesn't surprise me.
Again, you guys, I feel like Griffin is really suffering. I feel like he really is going through it with religion.
Um and I don't think he's faking it at all. But at the same time, do I think that Griffin rage baits with this? Yes.
Do I think that he tries to jump on trends to, you know, promote his social media? Absolutely. I think that Griffin really does use the strong wording saying things like I consecrate this account to Jesus Christ. Did Jesus Christ ever ask for a TikTok account? I don't I don't remember that, but you guys send me the verse reference if he did and I'm wrong.
But he uses really strong language and he does this with I'll show you these later on they're coming. But he does this with other people in the queer community and that's where it gets hard for me because there's part of my heart and my mind that is like so sad for Griffin you guys. He's a grown man. He's a grown adult, but he has talked throughout his content so much about loneliness, about not having friendships, about not being able to find intimate relationships in the way that he wants, about feeling judged, about feeling disconnected from God. And all of those things are so heavy to deal with. All of you watching have probably had to deal with you know one of those things at a time. Maybe it's sexuality and your family not supporting it. That is a heavy heavy issue. Maybe it's not that. Maybe it's something else. Maybe it's that you can't find a partner and that's devastating. You know there any one of these issues that Griffin is dealing with the faith crisis because he does go back and forth on it.
All of these things are hard hard things. So half of me is like I want to cry for him. Like I feel bad for him. I want I wish I could call him up and as a friend just say Griffin stop posting this because I think you're really going to regret it in the future and I do think he's doing this for connection and meaning and purpose and you know you're kind of told that God's going to meet you where you're at and if you're out serving him God's going to be there with you and so all of this I think is Griffin in a way maybe psychologically like [ __ ] testing God. He's like okay God I'm doing this. I'm putting in the work.
I've vowed to be celibate. Like where are you? So this is all and I am agnostic, so my concern is God's not going to show up for Griffin. It's not This is not going to go the way that he thinks that it's going to go. The other half of me really struggles because of the rage baiting and how much hateful rhetoric he does really spew because he is so hateful to the LGBT Q+ community and he knows that basically like Christians are using him, his testimony to just like they used Niesa Powers in my personal opinion to say, "Oh, look, they're shutting this old life's lifestyle. They're saying that that was just a choice. They're saying that they can just change overnight. They're saying that culture is really evil and what made them do this." You know, it's They use their testimonies like after confusing and gaslighting and warping and twisting and listen, if some of you that's really your personal story, okay, I'm not going to say that nobody has converted to Christianity.
They obviously have.
But to me, this is just concerning. It has very you know, many parallels to the Niesa Powers story which I'm not doing a follow up on Niesa Powers. If you guys want to know why, just go read the [ __ ] comments on the Niesa Powers video. I'm not doing it a second time. I I'm not doing it a second time. But I do think that they use Niesa Powers story and now that Niesa Powers has, you know, come So Niesa, if you guys aren't familiar and this will be short, but Niesa was is [clears throat] a trans woman who came on social media and started sharing that they believed that God had spoken to them and said, "I want him." Meaning they wanted Nisa to start presenting as a male again.
They went through a lot of hardship and faith journey stuff very publicly. They also lied about a lot of things, which I don't love, but I also still believe the faith part of it was real.
And now they have said, "I felt used during that season. That was not authentic for me, and I am trans, and it's not something that I can just reverse, and I'm so sorry for the harm I've caused."
And I feel like Griffin is go is I don't know if this he will do the same thing that Nisa did, you know, in apologizing and kind of going back to their original content, but it does just concern me that he his story was used. And the hard thing is that if you do go look at Nisa's like TikTok account, um her Instagram account, she has so much less support now than she did when she was talking about how she was detransitioning, and it's really sad that all of this spiritual love and support, because Nisa is still to my understanding exploring spirituality, there's like no support anymore just because Nisa is trans. And I think that is exactly the problem, case in point.
And people like Griffin have to see that. And, you know, Griffin himself has actually said, "I actually have realized I can be queer and a Christian at the same time. So, that is how I'm shifting my content." And support drops when he does that, and people get really upset with him. And I think he does read the comments, and he does feel it, and then he ends up going back, and it's just in this, you know, kind of yo-yo situation.
I'm going to show you the next video, but yeah, that just that whole TikTok made me concerned. It feels like he's parroting the Charlie Kirk quote. And, um it's one of the first vibes that I got that Griffin maybe is like planning to be a martyr.
>> To everyone that keeps calling Christianity cruel and that God really isn't all that loving because your identity and definition of love he sees as sin and he defines us sin biblically cuz he says clearly throughout the Bible that homosexuality is sin. To everyone saying that God really isn't loving, you are so lucky that you are not dealing with the Old Testament God.
His grace and mercy is so great for us and he truly does love us. It's his kindness that he does not deal with us like he did in the Old Testament because if he dealt with us in the Old Testament, we'd be done for. We'd be cooked. Like we literally would be stoned and we would be dead.
So you are lucky that you are living in a New Testament and that God's mercy and grace is just so relentless. He is constantly pursuing us, constantly loving us, constantly giving us his grace and his mercy because if he was dealing with us like he did in the Old Testament, you would literally be dead right now.
>> I mean kind of but not really. There was like a ton of temple prostitution back in the day. Um men of status were allowed to sleep with like little boys, which is rape obviously. I I hate when I sometimes I misspeak and I'll say sleep with and I don't like to I like to reframe it because I think it is important to say that, you know, it's a child, it's rape. We're allowed In some settings it was considered okay and then in certain biblical settings it was considered not okay. These people were engaging in sexual practices that were a lot more insane than what you generally see today and I think that a lot of Christians don't know that or get it twisted and they think that we're like society is just getting worse and worse and blah blah blah. No, it's not.
Children are much more protected now.
Um obviously you guys not perfect but like less child marriages in the United States, right? That's progress. There still needs to be a ton of progress, but it's not the same Yeah, it's not the same culture. I'm kind of going off on a tangent now. I got to recenter myself. I just think that Yeah, Griffin saying, and this is what I'm talking about with the rage bait, but him saying, "Hey, people that are Hey, queer people, just be grateful you're not getting stoned to death." That's wild. That's a heinous take to have. Um it makes my blood boil, but it's also again, there's like that other half of me that makes me so sad because it's like Griffin, that you're talking about yourself, brother, and you shouldn't feel that way about yourself.
Like it breaks my heart that you feel that you deserved to have been stoned because previously he was like living in openly They He The way that he would phrase it is an openly gay lifestyle. I don't believe it's a lifestyle. Yeah, it just is rage bait-y and I don't like it, and it it doesn't follow through. We're going to move on to the next one. It honestly is so nonsensical. I don't have much to say about it, but if you guys have anything to add, um I love pinning your comments. I love responding to your comments. Educate me. Educate other commenters. If I touch on something in this video that you're like, "Ooh, I have more to add about that." Please do it. Um this is a work with you, especially on these topics where I don't have firsthand experience. So, really allow this to be a discussion. Have grace for me, please, but also feel free to educate me because >> This is my last Tik Tok post for a while, maybe for good. I'm not sure yet.
But I'm moving away from home for 3 months to go in the next step of my walk and journey just with Christ and following him. And I will be completely phoneless for 3 months. I'm so excited for just that detox and just that that time with the Lord for restoration and just growth.
Um and when I come back, I'm not sure if I'm going to come back on social media.
So that if this truly is the last post ever you see from me, know that Jesus Christ is Lord. He is coming back soon. He loves you.
He took the cross for you to save you and anyone who turns to Jesus and confess that he is Lord will shall be saved.
And I say this in confidence because we don't know how much time we have left in our life.
And my hope and goal is to eventually go to the Middle East full-time, long-term for the rest of my life and spend the rest of my life spreading the gospel of Jesus, truth of Jesus.
And it may cost me my life one day and that's fine.
Because my life does not belong to me.
My life belongs to Christ. So if I lose my life for Christ, what an honor.
The last thing I'll say is this.
I will preach the gospel. I'll die and be forgotten as long as you get the glory.
>> My understanding is that Griffin has been through conversion therapy before, which is illegal in I believe all of the United States. I'll fact-check myself on the screen if you guys are listening and you care to read if it is fully legal, check the screen. I'll put it there.
But this concerns me and a lot of other commentators that Griffin might actually be going away to conversion therapy, that he might be doing some sort of intensive therapy and maybe traumatized.
Um will likely be traumatized if that is the case. Another possibility that does come to mind that's a lot more mundane, although still can be problematic is YWAM or similar programs. They will do like three months. They're called like DTS's or like driven to serves or um there's another name for them that I can't remember now. But they'll do like three months. You can do six months a year, 2 years with YWAM, and you get to go do missions, essentially. You get to go serve with missions. I sometimes have problems with these agencies. Sometimes they really don't take proper precautions. I have seen people become extremely injured or fatally injured because of these trips. I'm not going to get more into that. Um I I have been on trips where the work that was done was so devastatingly bad that the people sobbed at the end of our trip, okay? Now, listen, like was I 13 years old? Yes, right? Like I'm not This isn't about missions trips. They can be really problematic. People can get really hurt, um and you can certainly be traumatized on a missions trip. You can certainly get in situations that you should not be in. Um they don't really provide you with training that is needed to be in situations where you're dealing with certain populations. There's a wide variety of what can happen on missions trips. So, anyway, whether it's conversion therapy, a missions trip, I don't know what it is, but it does concern me for Griffin. This is not the last Tik Tok he posted. You guys can probably tell from how long the rest of this video's going to be that it's not the last one he posts, but he does maintain that he is going to be going away throughout all of these, and so I do think that that is true. This is also where now the murder dumb language from before started to creep back into my mind, and him saying, "I don't know if I'm ever coming back. I would basically be happy to die for God." You're going to hear that language continue throughout these videos, and that to me is really concerning. Let's just say, hypothetically, you were somebody that was a Christian and you were looking for a ministry volunteer opportunity in an extremely dangerous area, especially as a man, a single man who doesn't have like a wife or children or any sort of that going with you or to those whatever. Like you absolutely can and again, I have seen just enormous harm.
Like I have true death and actual destruction on these trips, okay? So, that's not to [ __ ] on all missions trips. I'm not saying the ones you went on never helped anybody. I'm just saying that I can count the cost and it is going on those missions trip was ultimately worse for the people going on them and it was much worse for the people who were in those communities. There are much better ways to help. Donate your money to reputable organizations.
>> One of the greatest honors one could possibly do is to lose their life for Jesus. It is such an honor to serve the king of kings and go out unshaken and confident in Christ.
Now, I don't want to mess anything up on that up on anyone or myself. But, uh for me I wanted to do the Middle East full-time one day.
The most dangerous place in the world to preach the gospel where 500,000 just lost their life in Nigeria within the past couple years.
Now, I say this because it is an honor to give it up all for the one who gave it all first.
So, I give up because he first gave up and surrendered his life.
And you can all all the people who don't like Jesus can't say Jesus. They'll say, "Well, he's craving attention. He's attention." I'm not. If you would understand and know the love of Christ, like not just know, but like know in your heart the power of his love, you would be agreeing with me.
What an honor it is to give it up for the all the one who gave it up first. Who loved us so much that he lived a perfect life and yet still gave up his life for us sinners.
So, one day I don't know. Maybe I won't. Maybe I will.
I might come to terms where I'm arrested for the gospel and they tell me to denounce Jesus as Lord and if I don't I will lose my life. And I will not hold back. I will say Jesus Christ is the Lord and the Messiah, the king of kings, the savior, the prince of peace, Immanuel, the son of God.
Jesus is more than a prophet. He is the son of God.
>> Now, I'm not a therapist, but when I am I have seen people in psychosis. I have seen people in not great places. I myself has struggled with my mental health throughout my life. I have other videos on that if you guys are interested in it. But here my main concern is not like, oh, Griffin's in psychosis because people are accusing him of religious psychosis. I understand that term has gotten really popular lately. But I will say what I'm looking at is like, is the through line like does it make sense? Can you follow him throughout? Is it one topic? For me, yes, it concerns me that he is having some kind of mental health crisis. Not that he's in psychosis though, not in religious psychosis, but, you know, grain of salt and all that. What do I know? If you're a therapist, definitely let me know what your thoughts are on kind of this increase in the use of the word religious psychosis and when you think that that would be valid or not valid to use. Obviously, if we're talking about somebody we don't personally know on the internet and I say we as a layperson, it's not really probably appropriate for me to like diagnose that anyway. It concerns me, right? It does concern me.
It feels um like he is intentionally trying to be a martyr for Christ. He says it's an honor. He said it's not that he's intentionally wishing that upon anyone, but he knows that that's the risk and he's willing to do it because it's an honor. And frankly, who doesn't want an honor? So, I this concerns me. It worries me for Griffin. I hope that people close to him are checking in on him. I um you know, I'm keeping my negative comments. Although again, he has done serious harm to the queer community. Um and I definitely talked about that in my last video and I have touched on it in this one. To me, the primary focus of his recent comment content has been these little secret at Easter egg dropping of martyrdom along the way. And that to me has been much more the focal point and is the biggest concern because I think that he could really be in immediate danger. Although close second again is he is causing real damage with his content. Although he's saying he's going away now.
He does have two more TikToks for us to get to. But here you guys, again, I just am really really concerned and it's this tug-of-war with me. Like I'm glad he's going off the internet because I think his content again is extremely damaging.
I don't think that we can downplay that.
But then also it's like if he's off the internet, I'm kind of like, are you okay? Like where are you? You know what I'm saying? Especially in the way that he's leaving the internet. If he just said, "Hey you guys, I realize it's better for me to be off the internet and so I'm going to take some time to myself." I would be happy for him. I would say more more power to Griffin.
But he's not doing that. He's talking about Did he say Nigeria? I don't Again you guys, it's not that I don't think that there are any opportunities for us to go aid other places. It's just when you really look into the missions work that is done by people in America, by these organizations, there are so many issues.
And again, in my own experience, the harms both to my friends that I can personally name and myself and then to the people that we served, which is the most horrific part of it to me, honestly. It's like memories that I can't It like make I have to not think about it. It's bad. So, you guys go do your own research into it, but yeah, like this just isn't helping anyone. Griffin isn't going to help anyone and he's also not going to be helping himself and >> If you ever attend a church service and at their church building site on site, they have a flag hanging out with six different colors on it, run.
Yeah, run. That's not a church.
No.
That's not That's not a Christian church, at least.
That teaches biblical truth. No, run.
Yeah, we we don't want no We don't want no six-color rainbow flag.
No.
No.
>> No. No. No.
>> It's just hateful. Um it's mean-spirited. Like, he's very You know, the Bible has a lot to say about mockers and not mocking people and Griffin's attitude in a lot of these videos are very mocking of the queer community. Yeah, it's like why go out on this note? Um it's irreparable harm. I think that these people who whose stories get picked up by this larger evangelical movement where they like to make them you know, the poster child to say, "Hey, they said that it was society that made them mentally sick."
Or they said that actually, you know, being trans was a choice for them. They love these stories, point to those people, and use it to discredit, you know, groups of vulnerable populations, groups of people that are already struggling enough, already have enough hatred aimed at them. And so, it's like it's Again, it's hard for me. It's like I don't know how can It's hard for me. I have kind of I don't I have a lack of forgiveness in one area for Griffin for those things, but then it's like in this other area it's just like he is also bearing the brunt of his own beliefs, which we do see, you know, fairly often in the videos that I cover. Another example could be like Paul and Morgan. They are a married couple that are in their early 30s.
They've been married since they were young and they've been miserable, it looks like, you know, from the videos that they've put out. They still are telling everyone to do what they're doing, follow their path, that they're doing the right thing, and it's like, you guys aren't happy. Like, you are not happy, you are not enjoying your life. Griffin is not happy, Griffin is not enjoying his life, and so why are they out here just shaming all these other people, telling all these other happy people that it's like they want to just bring them down.
Like Paul and Morgan, they're miserable, they're bearing the brunt of their own beliefs. Their own beliefs are the things that, one, got them married at a young age, two, got them married super fast, three, made them have kids super fast, and four, is making it so they can't get divorced. And for Griffin, he is also going to bear probably the most, like cumulatively across society, more harm to society. But on one individual, Griffin is going to be bearing the vast majority of the harm that he's causing, if that makes sense, especially if he does go spend months, you know, three months in conversion therapy, or months in, you know, the most dangerous portion of the world, according to Griffin, with the intention of being a murder for Christ. Frankly, shame on any Christians around him that are supporting this or this mindset. It clearly is um depressive. It clearly is tied to mental health, and I think that they should be saying, "Hey Griffin, man, like your life is worth living, and God gave you life for a reason, and being, you know, intentionally going to the most dangerous areas on I'm finger quoting cuz I don't know, but going there intentionally with the purpose of dying is not stewarding God's temple, your body, well. Um it's not managing your time well, it's not taking care of the resources that God has given you.
>> I saw a TikTok clip of a pastor speaking, and what she said literally shook me, bro. She said this, "The cure to depression is to go serve others."
I was like, "Bro, that's so true. That's crazy. That's crazy.
The posture of humility brings so much joy.
The joy of the Lord is our strength.
What's the joy of the Lord, and what did the Lord do? He served. It says he came down to serve, not be served. So, the joy of our Lord of our strength is to serve others. Cuz when you serve, you will just feel joy. You'll just feel joy, cuz you're not practicing pride, you're practicing humility and gratitude.
Mind-blowing. The cure to depression is to go serve others. Crazy, guys. So, if you're having a bad day, a tough day, mentally, go serve others, go bless others, go love others, go do something good for them or nice for them.
>> Is it a cure to go do nice things for other people? No, but it is a really important part of me like breaking out of bad patterns, especially like if I can go help somebody else or do something nice and feel like I am of service, I'm useful, I'm strengthening a social connection that I have, you know, all of that makes you feel better. It makes you feel good. But, it's not a cure. I can honestly say like I served a ton, like daily, essentially through middle school and high school, and I have gotten so many volunteer hours in my life. I home-schooled, so we did a lot of volunteer stuff. This isn't like just saying that I'm a great person, this is my mother made sure we volunteered. It didn't cure my depression. It didn't fix my OCD, it didn't fix my anxiety.
And this to me adds to the concern that he believes that going and doing this is going to fix any inner struggle that he has. I feel, you know, before I mentioned that I felt like Griffin might be [ __ ] testing God. Like All right God, I'm going to serve you.
I'm going to go do this thing. I'm going to put myself in death's way because I am at such a dead end mentally right now.
I can't see another way out. So, you basically you either show up or I'm going to die.
Maybe you show up and I die. Maybe I get both, but either way like this current situation not continuing. And the Bible strictly warns you not to [ __ ] test God.
Don't do that. Don't do that. Don't test him. Don't do that. And I don't think Griffin is doing it in a conscious way where he's literally saying that to God.
But I think that he does believe that if he does this that yes, it will fix certain things for him. Maybe it's his depression. Maybe it's other things.
But no matter what, it's not you know, the right way to go about it in my personal opinion. Obviously, I'm not Griffin, but I think that if you're struggling with your mental health, a really really good place to start is by getting a good therapist. Maybe talking to your primary care doctor about going on medication if you need it. Especially if it's been a lifelong issue, you guys.
Um you know, if it's been a lifelong issue, I can almost assure you that it's not that you're lazy. It's not that you're a bad person. It's not that you're just negative. It's not that you lack empathy or whatever. Like don't you know, don't be afraid to get help if you need it. But I think that sending yourself to a foreign country to put yourself in danger when you know that you are already struggling mentally, that is bound to not go well.
>> So, last week I got my social media banned for my testimony and I was not shocked.
God saved me from the LGBT community, so it's not a likable topic, especially to some Christians. They're just not comfortable talking about it. You know, and I'm very bold in my faith and and talking about biblical truth.
Um but now that I don't have my TikTok account anymore, the road is just very unclear and I'm very unsure where God is taking me next.
I'm not actually necessarily stressed about it, but I am tempted to feel anxious about it because I've been doing this for over a year now, a little over a year now, social media full-time. And so now that the account's just gone, you know, and like my platform is gone, I don't know where God is leading me next and I'm just tempted to I'm really tempted to feel anxious about it. And so I really just have to surrender that trust to God and >> I don't know where God is leading you next, either, Griffin, but I can assure you that he never led you to go on TikTok and start telling people things like they should just be grateful they're not getting stoned. That was, you know, if you his old account was deleted, I truly can't find a lot of the old stuff. It's just gone.
But he's posted a lot more things that are even more heinous, um even worse, more just blunt and mocking and unkind and judgmental. And that's the reason that you got banned, Griffin. You talking about those things, you being rude, you being unkind, you being judgmental, those are the reasons why you got banned. So, God didn't lead you to do those things and so God isn't necessarily, I wouldn't say leading him away from TikTok, although I do agree a break would be right. But this whole first part is almost comical to me that he's acting like he has been attacked for his faith and now he needs to go like physically fight back in other places.
I really wish that Griffin had more stable people in his life who could speak to him about this. I wish that he had mental health support. I wish that the Christians in his comment section would actually love Griffin for Griffin and not love Griffin for the story that he might be able to tell and further their cause. I I you know, this is hard to watch. Like it's disturbing to watch.
It's hard to watch. The self-hatred is heartbreaking.
>> I see that I don't know where your I mean the road is beyond more than just unclear. I feel like the whole path is just completely foggy and dark and I have no idea what the next step is.
Um yeah, it's nerve-wracking a little bit, but I trust God. I know that he's no matter what he still and always is good and Jesus still is king and he's will still continue to save lives despite you know, if my social presence social media presence is gone or it's or it's not gone, you know, Jesus will always continue to move through his people. And so I still want to say thank you even you know, I feel like gratitude is the right heart posture in this place in the midst of temptation to feel anxious. I just give gratitude to God and to Jesus for what he has done in my life and through my life.
And yeah, I just want to say thank you.
Thank you, Jesus.
In your name, amen.
>> And that is the update on Griffin. Maybe the last one ever. He says that he's not coming back to Tik Tok for at least 3 months but maybe ever because of the demonetization which again, I do believe is very much his own fault and was rightful. It was rightful. Do I think Christians should be allowed to talk about faith on Tik Tok? Absolutely. Do I think that Christians should say that queer people should be grateful that they're just not getting stoned by the government? No, I think that's pretty egregious. I like the absurdity of it is truly insane, but Griffin seems to parrot a lot of other talking points. I've seen him copying other people pretty closely.
Um, I pointed out earlier him saying I want to be known for my faith when I die. That was a direct Charlie Kirk quote. Now, is it particularly original of Charlie Kirk? No. Could Griffin have come up with it on his own? Sure, but I worry that a lot of the ideas that Griffin has are not his own. I worry that the talking points that he has are not his own. And so, I worry that he's not going to have the kind of people around him who are going to tell him, "Hey, man, maybe don't go to" Where did he say? Nigeria? I don't I don't want to get into all of that.
It's just is worrisome to me, but it's like I am ultimately glad that he's getting off the internet, but I also don't want to see him get hurt. I don't want to have my next update be a really, really sad one, right? I would like to give you guys an update in a year and say that Griffin has learned to accept himself. He has started talking about his true story and maybe helps other queer Christians, you know, who want to have a relationship spiritually with the Christian God, helps them find a path that work, you know, help them find a similar path or something like that. I don't know, but somehow turn it positive, turn it good.
But, this just feels like a monumental crash and burn. This feels like we're witnessing a crisis. That's all I have to say um about this one, you guys.
Please let me know what you think about it. Um, let me know what you think about the kind of harm that his content causes. Do you take it pretty seriously?
If you're queer, what do you think about it? Do you think that other people are taking this seriously or do you think that it's kind of, you know, people are seeing it for what it is?
I personally lean towards >> [clears throat] >> it being very harmful, especially with the co-opting of the story and how people will use those types of stories in the Christian church and how they'll manipulate them.
But again, thank you guys so much for watching. Please like this video, hit subscribe, or double-check to make sure that you are subscribed if you're not already because about 60% of you that watch my videos on a regular basis are actually not subscribed to me already.
So, even if you think that you are, double-check because I've heard the same message on other channels and then I went and double-checked and I realized that I actually wasn't subscribed and because I just watched enough of their videos, I guess it was popping up naturally, but I swear I was subscribed and I wasn't when I checked. So, double-check for me. Uh leave a comment.
If you don't know what to say, you can always leave a bird or a dove down below. And if you want to support me even further, you guys can become a member to my channel. That is the number one way to support me. It means so much to me. Um you guys get to see these videos um before everybody else, usually a few days before everybody else.
