Auxiliary verbs, also known as helping verbs, are verbs that assist main verbs in forming tenses, voice, or specific meanings. They are categorized into two types: primary auxiliary verbs (including 'to be' verbs like am, is, are, was, were, shall, will, being, been for progressive tense and passive voice; 'to have' verbs like have, has, had for perfect tense; and 'to do' verbs like do, does, did for interrogation, negation, emphasis, and requests) and modal auxiliary verbs (to be covered in a subsequent video).
