The 2023 ACC guidelines highlight that young patients with AFib may carry inherited gene variants even when their echo looks completely normal.

[00:00:22]A landmark study published in JAMA Cardiology found that among patients with AFib diagnosed before the age 66, 10% actually carried a disease-associated genetic variant, primarily in cardiomyopathy genes. And in patients with AFib before age 45 with no identifiable cause, that number jumped to 24% and that's essentially one in four.
