American Reacts to Traditional Polish Wedding!Added:
Hey guys, welcome back to the channel.
Today I'm going to be reacting to a video called traditional Polish wedding to popini popini. I This is obviously this is a wedding. I'm going to guess this is some sort of dance or some sort of ritual.
Not a ritual, probably a dance, but I don't know. I can't wait to find what it actually is. So, let's check it out and comment. Like and subscribe.
Oh my god, I love the music.
I have a dumb question right off the bat. Are those people that they hired to start a dance group or are those the actual guests and stuff?
Because obviously there's traditional dances, you know, dance groups and you hire them, you know, for events. Are are are them sort of part of a dance group or are there just the guests?
Oh my god, I love how lively it is.
>> Ladies and gentlemen, the holiday dancers, >> I'm going to assume it's a dance. Yeah, it's a dance group. And is was this in the US? Why is he speaking in English?
I love how they're moving their feet.
Oh.
I love the outfits.
Oh, and they have little sort of flower crowns. Oh, that's so pretty.
Oh, I love it.
Oh my god. I love the way the the women's sort of skirts they when they're Yeah. when they're doing this and we're doing the spins. How the the the skirt sort of I don't know. It's very pretty.
I think the shape it makes.
I think it seems easy enough as in the dances, you know, the movements are not that particularly hard. However, learning the choreography to this as in hey, you have to do this, this, how many spins, then we have to go here, we have to go there. That's I think that's where the hard part comes in because I think the the feet movements are not that complicated, but oh my god, learning all the steps and learning how Hey, am I supposed to go here? You go where? What?
I'm like, I'm moving here. You're moving there. I have to go here, do this. I think that's I think Oh my god, how much how long does it take you to learn this?
Months. But probably for them, no, because it's a traditional dance. So, it's probably something that's just in the back of my mind always. So, I kind of know when I think it's so surprising to me how similar the feet movements are to I think some other European dances. I think it's maybe maybe Greek I'm thinking of. Yeah, this reminds me of a lot another European culture.
I love Oh my god. I love when they're spinning though. Obviously again the spins they have perfect posture. It's perfect.
I love how everyone's cheering them on.
Yeah, of course. Oh, I love this.
I'm wondering how old this dance is.
Do they have a live band?
Oh, they do.
Yeah, this is this isn't just, you know, push play. No, it's an actual band. I would assume it's also Polish.
Oh my god, I love how they're Oh, the Is there a drum roll? Oh, oh my god. Okay, hold on. Let me rewind this.
What was the step? I loved it.
Oh, yeah. The Yeah, with with the feet.
You have You have to stomp your your foot.
Oh, I love this part. This was my absolute favorite part.
I love Yes, I love all the feet stomping. I love that.
This is great to me.
Even that part it's not again it's very similar to I think other European dances obviously different because each each and one of them it's it's different but I can see the similarities a little bit I can think of at least something vaguely Irish some of this also parts of Spain have certain things that are similar as well.
So again, a little bit vaguely similar a little bit.
Oh my god. In the background there's something that's that's it's like what's up in the background there's something I don't know. They're they're turning. Yeah, it's fire. What what's happening there?
Maybe they have sort of a a a streamer or something. I don't know what is that, but it's literally on fire.
Oh. Oh my god. Is that the groom?
I'm going to Yes. Yeah, that's I guess it's a bride.
I'm going to assume that's the groom because I don't know. Seems into this.
Oh, they have to dance. Oh my god. The br the bride and groom also have to dance.
Oh my god. What happens if you don't know the steps? Or do you just know them? Because again, I just know them.
Oh my god. I I could swear I know this song. I know that I obviously it's impossible for me to know this, right?
I don't know. I think I I've I've heard this before, but I know it must be crazy. It must be sim similar to something else.
Oh my god, they're just pieces of Ah, what a whirlwind.
Oh my god, the the bright is just Oh my god, I'm all over I'm moving all over this this this stage. Well, it's not a stage. It's a dance. What's happening?
He fell. Or is this part of the dance?
I'm thinking about the poor bride because she has such a poofy dress that Oh my god. This isn't Again, there's a reason why the dress the dance outfits are, you know, they're not that that long. The hem.
Oh, and that I'm assuming that's either the the the the mom of one of the the the well either the groom or the bride, the girl, well, the woman that's sort of that's also been passed around.
Yeah. And this is probably the father of one of the the honories of this party.
Oh no, there's more people. Okay. So now it just all the guests here just go to Yeah. If you want to dance, come and dance.
Not necessarily one of the wedding party. It's just one of the guests again.
Oh my god, this is so exciting. I love it. I It just make me want to dance as well.
They seem like they're floating in the air, which I like.
Yeah, I think. Yeah, he's Yeah. Getting up. Everyone gets up. Come on.
>> This is very country music.
Old culture music like is it?
Oh my. The whistling everything.
Oh, lyrics.
>> Oh, what are they saying?
>> Oh, of course, now they're dancing.
You know, the the bride and the groom with each other.
I love it.
>> Oh my god. Did Did it speed up? What?
>> Oh, I love it.
>> Yeah. I don't know if that's a what's it is that a trombone? A saxophone? I don't know what it is, but I love it.
It's a It seems like it's sort of setting this the stage I think for that particular instrument.
Oh my god, everyone looks like they're having the time of their lives.
This is like someone's teaching the steps to the other. It's What do I do?
Oh my god, the the couple in the background keep spinning.
>> Yeah, call whatever body. Yeah, sure.
No, they're Yeah, they're doing something different. These two are doing something different. I don't know if that's okay. They're doing their own spin on on things. It's not necessarily a part of the actual dance.
Oh my god, I love this dress.
Oh my god, this couple in the background. They just keep they have great spins. You just constantly are spinning and spinning and spinning. How do you not get dizzy?
>> Yeah, I was having so much fun.
>> Oh yeah. See, this is what I mean. When you have a long dress. Oh my god. How am I supposed to I can't I can't dance properly in this dress.
That's why when you're doing longer well there are certain kind of dances in which if the the skirts have ruffles because it's easier and you're not supposed to you're not you're not going to I get you're not going to trip and fall with your own with the hemline of your own dress.
But obviously these aren't made for dancing. just winning party dress up.
Oh, I love the Z.
It just don't me. They're all They all You have to move in a circle.
Everyone either does their own thing or whatever, but you have to be constantly moving around in a circle. It's not just you're I don't know, you're not moving, you know, left to right. No, you have to do it in a circle.
Oh, these. Yeah, there's a couple in the background that's also doing something different. These two.
Oh my god. This is around there. I don't know how much circles they've done.
I'll be I don't know. I I need to stop.
Yeah, because you've done so many circles that it's and you're also spinning on your own I don't know on your own axis. How are these people or not? I need a break. I think I'm going to throw up.
Obviously that they're professional dancers, but I mean the actual the the normal people, the guest.
It's just a lot of spinning.
Oh, you had to do another Oh, is this a drum roll? What is What is it that I'm hearing?
This is so catchy.
Oh, yes. I I loved it. No, when I go to a Polish wedding, this is old. I I obviously cannot tell the year. I cannot say the year. It looked like the '8s, but I I I'm wondering if actually in this day and age when people have traditional Well, not traditional, I guess, because if you're from Poland, this is just your wedding. It's not you don't need a traditional word. You know, you don't need traditional in the actual sentence. Is this is your wedding and that's it. When people get married in Poland are this kind of things.
Obviously, again, I know not everyone has a big party. Some people just go to the courthouse, they get married, but if you're having a a big size or a normal size party, if you have a party and you're from Poland and you're getting married, do do you need to do this do do something like this? Obviously, not specifically this, but you, you know, you need to hire the traditional Polish, you know, dancers or, yeah, the band itself. I think they're probably traditionally, you know, from Poland because obviously they wouldn't know the music. So, do you need to hire them? Is that expected? Is that normal? And obviously, if you're part of the diaspora as well, does this kind of thing is also done? Because this looks very again I love how traditional everything feels even though obviously you know the dancers themselves and the the actual dance itself. I can see it's something very old, right? These are traditions that came up, you know, oh, it's 50 years. No, these are traditions and you can see by the way they're dressed, by the way. Obviously, again, it's just a traditional thing.
Obviously, this this, you know, this has been done for probably centuries. So, that part obviously I get that's the full glory part of this and this is very old. This is a traditional part. that even in the 80s I would have thought maybe people were I actually I have no idea if in the 80s this was being this was being seen as something oh but it's all you know it's old timey I don't want to have you know have I want to have a modern wedding I have no idea but in this day and age I would assume maybe I think a lot of people are oh no I don't want to have this sort of traditional thing because again I want you know this is 21st century and I want to have a modern wedding and I want to do this and that. So I'm wondering if no that that sort of mindset doesn't really exist and if you are from a Polish background again you're part of the diaspora you're still thinking no no no if I'm getting married you know I have to have this right and it's not being it's not being seen it's not it's not seen as something old timey and maybe no p in weddings because I think obviously weddings go through also you know they go through fashion fashionable moments and I don't know they sometimes I think you can say oh I don't want to have an outdated wedding because certain things are oh no but you know weddings these days don't really have that because again it's being seen as something that's a little bit old timey and people do not do that and modern modern weddings do not have that. So, I'm wondering no, but does this apply or no Polish people in this day and age or no? No, we don't care about that. We're going to have our own traditional set of Polish dances in our band and it's going to they're going to sing well not sing actually play you know four or five traditional songs because again it's our they're celebrating our culture and it's good because I'm celebrating obviously again you're celebrating the joining of two people the sort of the blessing I think of of not well not technically I think the blessing but you're just honoring your culture in a in a nice I think in a nice and and yes traditional way of of of of doing things. So, I love that part. But I would love to know if this is still sort of, you know, is this is still around whether both in both in Poland or, you know, any basically any part of the world because, you know, Polish people are everywhere. So, yes, do I I I would love to know if this is still being done and very again so more or less the same thing. Obviously, there's going to be some changes because again, this was probably from the 80s.
It's been what 30 no 40 years I think around 40 years probably around 40 years obviously things are going to change weddings are going to change but ultimately I would assume the main you know the main parts remain the same if this is still being done I want to go to a Polish wedding right now because it looks so incredibly fun looks so joyful obviously it's a it's a wedding you know as a baseline most people are very happy at weddings but well most people everyone are it's happy at a everyone's happy at a wedding but in is I think it's very lively. I like how obviously the the you you I like the idea of first of all, you know, you have the the the actual professionals doing it and then obviously everyone sort of gets, you know, they're they're calling everyone and obviously the wedding and the the bride and the groom are first in line.
They get, you know, their own sort of dance and then it's everyone. So I think oh my god, that's where the fun part starts because yes, you just go around and you just spin. I I again the the steps themselves I don't think they were that hard. I think I haven't attempted them but I think it should be well I I'm thinking obviously because I'm seeing a clip. I think maybe if you're at a wedding and obviously you've had a few drinks it's probably a little bit harder to go and see. Wait, what did you do with your feet again? And what am I what am I doing right now? But of course if you're a guest I think it's not about oh my god you're not being judged. This isn't a competition. It's not about oh it was with your left feet. No, Jesus is wrong. No, the important part is just to have fun. And again, it's a celebration of of a culture, so it it really doesn't matter. Obviously, again, the only people that have to do this professionally are the dancers. And obviously, they do their their job, you know, perfectly well, so it's fine. And but I'm also thinking if at well, not every not all the time, but I think most well, some of your guests are obviously going to be also, you know, they're going to be polls. So if they're going to be polls, they're probably are a little bit a little bit familiar with the you know the how it goes and the dance itself. Obviously not everyone because not all your guests are going to be from Poland or you know again with a they have a Polish background but you know I think some of them do. So it's it's just yeah I I've seen this before probably like growing up or yes I have a passing sort of memory of this is I I kind of know how the dance actually goes and how the song goes and what are what you know what the actual thing looks like as in know the first of all you have the little dance earlier on with the little couples and they do this whole choreography this immense choreography obviously you're not expected as a guest to do this it's just a matter of I don't know go getting up and dancing and just moving your body I think in a circle and it's all and have fun because I think obviously that's the important part but also I think ultimately I think it's just really I don't know it's I find it very c curious I think how similar I think Polish well maybe in this case obviously this is from Poland but how traditional you know Polish and I don't know other European type of dances sort of resemble one another I think it's just crazy even in the in how they're dressed in this case I again I I can think of another another culture at least that has similar so especially in the men they have the little black vest and the white shirt.
It's just I I don't know there's something about this and even how the women are dressed with the embroidered bast and again in the skirts I can think of and the dances again this the dances also reminded me a little bit of other cultures. So it is kind of I don't know it never ceases to amaze me how similar I mean you can find the similarities to other cultures and to other type of traditional dances in from other cultures in Europe that are not that close to this it's not you know it's not it's not specifically you know there I don't know what country is near is near Poland I don't know Slovakia Germany but no there and even Germany come to think about it also Germany I think there are some regions that have pro well again similar types of they dress a little bit similar but when I'm thinking of the dances and all um again I'm thinking of Spain it's just very it's very funny I think how how similar they are and the dancing as well it's oh again there if you actually look closely and okay the the the music itself the music it is very different that the actual steps in and the dances are just oh you know I can see the resemblance and again even Ireland as well so it's very funny to me how oh my god everything is really one culture right we as humans we all really do share just one culture even though obviously each one of them and each one of us has their own sort of culture and their own little similarities and obviously their differences but you know again we all going to come from the same place so it's crazy to think about this but that's it for today and I'll see you soon. Bye.
