immigrant parents & cucumber kimchi

[00:00:00]I hate cucumbers. There, I said it. I said it. I know that there's been this like cucumber craze recently, or not so much now, but around a year ago when the 5minute cucumber salad recipe was popping. And if I'm going to be honest, I do not like cucumbers. They taste like perfume to me. I don't know why. And they kind of also taste like nothing because I love pickles. I know that pickles are made out of cucumbers, okay?

[00:00:22]I'm not stupid, but they just taste so different. Like pickles have so much flavor. Meanwhile, cucumbers don't taste like anything. And you may be asking, so if you don't like cucumbers, why are you making cucumber and kimchi? Well, that's because I believe in something called acts of service. You know, I feel like this is very big amongst like immigrant parents. They will cook for you. They will they will cut you fruit to show their love for you instead of telling you that they love you cuz they never do that. And right here, I'm making it for my boyfriend because he loves cucumbers for whatever reason. And I just like to show affection in that sort of way because that's how I grew up. I really am working on telling people that I do appreciate them, but it is kind of hard.
