How Does Film Development Actually Work?本站添加:
Have you ever wondered how this will turn into this? Yeah, it's not editing, it's science. Film photography might feel like magic, but ultimately it's chemistry. Inside this roll, every photo is captured on light-sensitive chemicals. When you hit the shutter button, light hits the film and creates an invisible image, which is something that you can't really see yet. Here's where it gets intense. Film has to be handled in complete darkness. [music] Even a tiny bit of light can ruin everything. That's why photographers use a darkroom or a sealed bag just to take the film out safely from the camera.
Then comes the developing process.
First, the developer, which is bringing the image to life. Next is a stop bath, which instantly halts the chemical reactions going on. And finally, the fixer. This locks the image in so light will not destroy it anymore. Each step has to be timed perfectly or your photos can come out too dark, too light, or completely unusable. After that, the film gets washed and hung up to dry. And what you're left with are what we call negatives. Basically, the reverse of your image. Then you can scan them or print them, and that's how you get the soft, timeless film look [music] that you've been desiring. This is definitely slower, it's expensive, and yeah, you can mess it up pretty easily. But that's exactly why photographers love it.
There's something special about film.
