3 drug traffickers get sentenced to time in prison

[00:00:00]Three Arizona drug traffickers are now headed to prison after over the last year multiple law enforcement agencies across the valley have seized large amounts of fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, and guns. And in a press conference today, Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes said these people now going to prison are not small-time drug dealers. One case involved a man named Julian Magana, who prosecutors say sold 10,000 carfentanil pills to an undercover informant with Chandler PD before showing up with another 100,000 pills. Carfentanil is about 100 times more potent than fentanyl. Recently, Magana was sentenced to nearly 10 years in prison. In another case, Chandler police found 238 lb of meth hidden inside a vehicle on I-10. Investigators say those drugs were being moved through Arizona as part of a Mexican trafficking organization. And here in Phoenix, authorities found fentanyl, cocaine, marijuana, and seven guns inside a home last year where there were three children living inside. And Mayes says the Attorney General's Office handles about 80% of the prosecutions when it comes to large-scale drug trafficking operations with people moving large quantities of drugs all throughout our state. And she said here in the near future, she plans to continue this effort specifically at targeting an effort to dismantle the Mexican cartels and their influence here on Arizona.
