This video identifies three common self-deceptions that perpetuate addictive behaviors: (1) 'I'll stop when I'm ready' - the myth that readiness will come, when in reality growth occurs through discomfort, not comfort; (2) 'It's just who I am' - the false belief that habits are inherent identity traits, when they are actually learned behaviors that can be unlearned; (3) 'I need it to relax' - the misconception that substances provide genuine relaxation, when they actually increase cortisol and stress, creating a cycle where the substance is needed to cope with the stress it creates.

Thr 3 LIES You Tell YourselfAjouté :
Today, I'm going to talk about the three lies that you're telling yourself that is keeping you trapped. Number one is I'll stop when I'm ready. Because everyone's waiting for this mythological day that you're suddenly ready to stop drinking. You don't want to, you don't feel ready. And that's because it's not comfortable. And it's never comfortable.
And most people by ready, what they mean is I want to wait until it feels comfortable. But it's not going to because it's growth and growth is done in discomfort. The next one is it's just who I am. No one is born with this habit. It is something that develops over time and just like any other habit, if you can build it and strengthen it and create it, you can counter condition it as well. So this just doesn't stand.
This is a lie. It's not who you are at all. That is the identity you're taking on. And the way to get out of this is to remove that from your identity. It's not just who you are. And I know that because that's what I used to think for so long. I used to think this is maybe this is just who I am. But it's a lie.
It's not true. And the third one is I need it to relax. This is not true because it doesn't actually help you relax. The reason you even need it in order to relax is because your previous session increased your cortisol. It increased your stress. So actually over time, you need it to try and relax from the thing that's creating the stress. So in fact, you don't need it to relax. You would feel much more relaxed if you never drank at all because it doesn't genuinely help you relax. So if you've ever recognized yourself telling yourself one of these, which is either I'll stop when I'm ready, it's just who I am or I need it to relax, just know they are lies and they are not true. And if you want to help from us, just comment the word freedom and I'll show you how.
