India Enters the Global Semiconductor Race | India Is Becoming a Global Tech Powerhouse

In the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten, Tata Electronics and ASML [music] signed MOU that would change India's semiconductor landscape forever. ASML is not just another semiconductor [music] company. It is the pioneer of the semiconductor industry. ASML is the only company that manufactures extreme ultraviolet, that is EUV, lithography [music] machines. This is the single most important equipment, without which it is impossible to curate advanced semiconductor chips below 7 nanometers.

[00:00:36]Hence, without EUV machines, there would be no AI, nor advanced smartphones, nor defense systems, or data [music] centers. This means that without ASML, major tech giants like Intel and Samsung Electronics [music] would collapse. Semiconductor has become a clear priority for India, and Tata is the company that is going to build the first fab in India. So, I think the project is extremely important. And what we want to do with this MOU is [music] provide Tata with all the support ASML can give in terms of product, technology, people, to [music] make sure that they have the very best lithography for the first fab. That is why this MOU matters, because India has now secured a direct strategic relationship with the most critical company in the global semiconductor value chain. ASML will support the setup and scaling of Tata Electronics [music] semiconductor fabrication facility at Dholera, Gujarat, India's first semiconductor city developed under the India Semiconductor Mission with a massive investment of $11 billion. The world is going [music] through a semiconductor Cold War with the US pressuring ASML to limit exports to China, which it has largely succeeded in. In this context, India has established itself as a trusted partner on the right side of the supply chain divide. Soaring at an ambitious goal of curating a $1 trillion electronics [music] economy, India's strategic partnership with the ASML provides easy access to advanced nodes, making the deal a hard prerequisite for the country's tech future. With ASML [music] support, India's first semiconductor special investment region, Dholera, will be a hub for chip investors and gain global credibility in the coming days. This deal is a major breakthrough for India. A direct relationship with the world's most critical equipment [music] supplier, India has insulated itself against future chip supply disruptions. India has entered the core of the global technology [music] order. With this deal, India is shaping itself as not just the assembler, but a major manufacturer. Today, nations that shape the global technology order become frontrunners in economy, AI, defense, >> [music] >> and the geopolitical order.
