Another HUGE Project DONE at C’MON 360!Added:
Good evening. Good evening. Good evening.
It's been a whirlwind of two days. Let me tell you, I have been on the move. We have accomplished a lot. The concrete footers done as of today. Mother Nature worked with us to a degree and worked against us a little bit as well, but we was able to uh sneak through and get it done.
Um, right after we finished the top of it, big storm came through. So, I'm sure there's little rain things all in it, but it's footers and not finished floor.
So, that'll be okay.
But, got it done today. Um, big accomplishment.
Happy that's over with. It ended up costing about three times more than what I was expecting and budgeting for.
concrete is.
Oh, I don't even know what to I don't even know what to say about how much concrete is right now. Um, it ended up being $4500 just for the concrete. That's not the crew that came out and did it, not the materials for the form boards and all the bracing and the rebar and all the other things.
just for the concrete.
I was mind blown when I got that quote.
Mind blown.
Was hoping it would end up being a little bit cheaper, but that is not the case.
But it's done. It's time to check another big thing off the list. Now, I got some solid footers. And trust me, guys, these are some big solid footers for a metal building.
Um the footers that never is going anywhere. They're there. Um the whole metal would have to rip off before before that goes anywhere. The footers are way bigger than they needed to be. And there was problems with the big boulders and the rocks digging out the footers which was having blowouts which caused it to be a lot bigger than what we was anticipating.
We was anticipating a one by one footer. It ended up being two by two pretty much footers, which is a lot of concrete.
Um 16 yards to be exact. Um well, a little bit less than 16 yards.
We had quite a bit extra and I did something on the road with that. So you'll have to pay pay attention and follow the video there on come on homestead to see what that is.
Uh, I thought it was a good solution being that the concrete was already bought cuz once it's in the truck, it's yours whether you use it or not or dump it on the side of a mountain. So, I had to come up with something on the fly that made sense that justified it for me a little bit because the concrete was a little bit over quoted. So, but it's done now. Everything else is moving forward. Uh, I reached out to the metal building people. I haven't got a return call yet. I I talked to the guy that I bought it from, but they're not the ones that's actually putting it up.
So, I'm hoping next Wednesday, not this Wednesday coming up, but next Wednesday, they'll be able to put it up. Uh, we're going to put the metal frame up Tuesday.
And, uh, hopefully they'll be ready to put the rest of it up. They called me like a week and a half ago and they said they was ready. So hopefully they can squeeze it into their schedule.
I talked to the well guy last night.
We're looking at probably Thursday or Friday next week, barring the weather.
Um cuz he doesn't work in the rain, which makes sense being he's got a big metal uh tower sticking up in the air. You don't want to work with lightning and thunder and all of that other stuff. So, as long as uh Mother Nature works with him this week and early next week, he'll be out to my place on Thursday or Friday.
Um, so here's hoping.
So, it's possible, no guarantee that the metal building could be up the roof part and the frame and the well could be drilled by the end of next week. That is a possibility, a real possibility depending on the weather.
So, fingers crossed.
And then after that's done, I'm going to have to take a break and I have to recuperate from all of these expenses because it hurt me. It hurt me big time.
Uh I don't normally talk about how much everything cost, but uh I just want I just want to be transparent with concrete prices right now and how much that really is. It's astronomical.
Since I poured the tiny house to now, the prices skyrocketed, skyrocketed.
So, I definitely won't be pouring the slab for the shed anytime soon until prices dramatically drop because I there's no way I can pull that off. I can't afford it.
So, yeah. But I'm happy. I'm happy.
I'm happy things are moving along. I'm happy that starting to work on getting the infrastructure. The solar panels for the roof of this building have been ordered today.
They should be in by the 11th hopefully. And then I have to take the trip to Florida to go pick up my granddaughter. But when I get back, I will be installing solar panels on the metal building. So, a lot of things are moving, moving, moving, moving.
And then after that, I'll probably slow down a little bit, recuperate, and uh start planning the next phases of things that need to happen. Once I get the solar panels up, one of the next things I got to do is build the solar panel room, the room for the solar, the electric, and all the components. That way, they're safe and out of the weather when they do come in and we start that phase.
Uh big shout out to Signature Solar and their tech representatives and all of that. They've been working hand in hand with me designing this system and uh helping me get all my ducks in a row.
I've been exchanging blueprints and that of the building and all of that, what we need, the different mounting uh options I have with this type of building and all of that. their information and advice and support has been topnotch A1.
So, big shout out to them. Um, I'll be working with them throughout this whole solar project. Uh, making sure that I got all my ducks in a roll because I'm not an expert by no means, but they even make somebody like me that can understand it and uh, get it done. And I'm also going to be bringing in uh Mike with Drifting Dreamers to help it with the install. Uh Mark with Life with the Rigils and uh also Tim with Ridge Life will all be part of this solar project. So a lot of moving parts, a lot of people, but uh I'm happy. I'm trying, like I said before, trying to get the infrastructure done first.
Trying to get electric and water and everything out there, sewer, all of that before I go fullblown on the house build.
Um, just to make it go smoother and a little bit more comfortable while I'm living out there. So, and also those are all big ticket items, like very expensive items. So, if I can uh get that out of the way first and then recoup and regenerate some money, then the build should go a lot faster as well. So, trying to learn from my mistakes on Come on Mountain cuz I made a ton of them. Um, but we still pushed through and made it happen. But there's definitely a I feel like as long as you learn from it, it's not a mistake, it's a learning experience.
And so I'm trying to learn from my mistakes there so they turn into learning experiences instead of mistakes. I definitely don't want to make the same one twice. So, but it's getting there. It's exciting though, seeing the footers there because now I can visually see the footprint of this building. A 35 by 42 is a good size building that end up being a shop. So, pretty happy. Pretty happy.
I was wondering if we was going to be able to make it happen with all the rain in the forecast. Even today, it was supposed to be no rain and tomorrow was supposed to be no rain and I was like, "All right, we're good. We're going to get it done." And within a couple of hours, the forecast changed and we got a downpour at like two or three o'clock.
So, and now it's supposed to rain tomorrow, too, when it wasn't supposed to. It changes just that fast here in Arkansas.
It's been crazy crazy.
But we got it. We got it. I'm happy to take another big check off of things.
And this was the key to everything else.
So, this is a big step. Big big step.
