During traumatic events, human perception of time can become significantly distorted, causing individuals to experience a subjective sense that only minutes have passed when, in reality, hours have elapsed. This phenomenon occurs because extreme stress and psychological impact can alter the brain's processing of temporal information, making it difficult for witnesses to accurately recall the actual duration of events they experienced.

I Saw the Thing Crash. Then I Lost Hours | Beyond Black Budget
Added:I appreciate you talking to me. The way I see it, something came down from the sky. There's some folks out there who say it was one of ours. Others say it wasn't.
>> I didn't want to say it out loud at first. I figured maybe I was just rattled. But it didn't start with the explosion. It started before that. I was sitting there jotting some notes on the clipboard. I saw the thing fly over the ridge and crashed.
But something else happened. Felt like a distress signal in my head.
It was like pressure right here. Not a headache, not pain exactly. More like something pushing in. Then everything went quiet >> and then it changed. The pressure turned into control. It wasn't a voice, but something was in my head, pushing, steering. I could feel it trying to take over.
Then the explosion happened.
It stopped. Whatever had hold of me, it let go.
It must have taken me an hour to walk back to my truck.
Thing is, I felt like I was standing there for minutes. Turns out it was hours.
I don't know where that time went.
