Sudan's civil war, which began in April 2023 between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, has become a major geopolitical crisis affecting global trade, regional stability, and migration flows to Europe. The conflict involves multiple international powers including the UAE, Russia, Iran, Turkey, Egypt, and China, with 12% of global trade passing through the Red Sea corridor. Over 11 million people have been displaced, and the war threatens to become the world's next major crisis.

Sudan’s War Can Crash the World Economy本站添加:
What if I told you that the deadliest war on Earth right now is [music] also one of the least covered and that it directly threatens global trade, regional stability, and migration flows all the way to Europe?
That war is in Sudan right now.
It began in April 2023 when two generals who had jointly seized power turned their weapons on each other.
One commands the official Sudanese army.
>> [music] >> The other commands the Rapid Support Forces, a paramilitary force of hundreds of thousands built from the same militias that carried out the Darfur genocide 20 years ago.
>> [music] >> Same commanders, new uniform, same methods.
The human cost is staggering. Over 11 million people displaced inside the country, 4 and 1/2 million fled across borders.
Famine officially declared genocide confirmed by the United States government. [music] But here is what makes Sudan more than a tragedy. It makes it a geopolitical crisis.
The United Arab Emirates has been [music] supplying the Rapid Support Forces, the so-called rebels, with weapons through secret cargo flights into Chad. Russia, [music] which has already been mining Sudanese gold through the Wagner Group, is now negotiating a 25-year naval base at Port Sudan capable [music] of hosting nuclear-armed warships right at the entrance to the Red Sea. Iran has flooded the official army with drones. Turkey, Egypt, and China are all present and calculating.
And that Red Sea corridor, 12% of global trade passes through it every single day. It is already under pressure from Houthi attacks out of Yemen. Sudan adds another layer of fire to a route the entire world depends on. Meanwhile, the refugees keep moving through Egypt, through Libya, towards Europe.
This is not a distant conflict. It is the world's next crisis hiding in [music] plain sight.
And if you want to learn how to read the world like this, to connect the dots between between wars, resources, naval bases, and migration, the masters in Mediterranean geopolitics and geoeconomics at the Euro-Mediterranean University is built exactly for that.
Link in the description because the world makes much more sense when you understand it.
