'Camp' Camp: "The White Noise Queer Experience"Added:
Hey, hey, hey.
Camp camp to me is a big family full of people who love you and who dance with you and sing with you and just want to be around you and love you.
You will have the most awesome time being able to be out and queer, whatever that means to you. You will find other people who are like you, as well as lots of people who are different. You will be able to come and make friends with people you might not ever have expected to meet any other place but here.
>> This has been like a life-changing experience for me. I don't think I really understood that I could just be me and be happy about it until I came here.
I first came to camp cuz a colleague friend of mine said it was just a wonderful experience and encouraged me to come. Um, I have to say I was a little bit hesitant my first year, but I just fell in love with the community as soon as I was here.
fun.
>> You can either sit by the lake all day and read a book or you can go rock climbing, you can go ziplining and you're fed really well here, too.
Camp camp to me is the white noise queer experience. Meaning right now I can hear I can hear people laughing. I can hear people in class talking. You hear people making things, singing.
>> Can't even have a good time. Everybody look to their left.
It's just the sounds of joy in a queer community, in a queer space where the majority of us are queer. Where else do you get that?
>> A first time camper should expect to come to a place that's very welcoming, a place that's beautiful. They should expect a lot of fun activities, but mostly a chance to make a lot of uh connections.
>> It's a life-changing experience. It feeds my soul. It helps me connect with other queer people and explore things and look at things from a different perspective.
>> People are very friendly. You know, every, you know, they're happy, it's friendly, it's a safe environment, and it's really been great.
