Large sinkhole disrupts west end traffic

[00:00:00]A large sinkhole disrupted traffic in the city's West End. Toronto police were called to Atkins Avenue near Dundas and Dufferin just before 4:30 yesterday afternoon for after reports of a large sinkhole in the street.

[00:00:15]Last night I rode my bike over this area and it was like it just felt like a little bit of an extra dip and I thought, "Oh, that's somewhere to avoid and that's going to be a pothole." I think there's a river on the next street over for sure and you can hear it when it rains a lot in the sewage. You can hear it on on Brock Street, Brock Avenue rather, at the end of the street there. But there is it's part of the whole, you know, Garrison Creek system and and it runs one block north of here, so it's not surprising. It looks like there's some really wild brickwork under there that's probably quite old.

[00:00:51]Atkins Avenue was briefly closed for the sinkhole repairs, but has since reopened.
