Uncovered Untold Histories by Prof. Touraj Atabaki

During Stalin's Great Terror (1930s), approximately 246 Iranian political activists and around 3,000 Iranian-origin Soviet citizens were executed, while approximately 15,000 Iranians were arrested and sent to concentration camps; this research, conducted through archival sources from Russia, Iran, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and institutions like the International Institute of Social History, reveals how political repression under Stalin targeted not only Russians but also foreign communist activists and migrant workers, with many victims being ordinary workers without political commitment rather than party members.
