I built a home at 19 (updated tiny house tour)Hinzugefügt:
Today we're going to be touring my tiny house.
>> [music] [music] >> A year and a half ago I moved into this tiny house and regular [music] viewers of my channel know and love this house, but actually a lot of changes have been made to the house since I originally moved in and toured. So I feel like it's about time for just an updated like here's my house, here's what I've done with the place. There you go. If you're new here, my name is Annie. I'm 20 years old. I built this tiny house when I was 19. It is 300 square feet, so it's actually tiny. I will say though it feels super [music] spacious and a lot of times when people come and see the house in person they're always like, "Wow, it's more spacious than it looks online." I live on my parents' property, so there are a lot of benefits. It's like I have my own little life, but I also can go and see my parents whenever I want, so it's perfect. Starting with the entrance of my house, this whole little space is nice because it's actually really spacious. This is my front door. I have some bags hanging up.
Notice how they're all pink [music] except the brown one. I'm in my pink era. I have a shoe rack here. This is super convenient. Design-wise I haven't really done a whole lot with this little spot. If you have any ideas, let me know. I have my welcome mat and then I have this little organizer for extra storage. I was going to need it. I honestly don't really use it. I won't lie. This door here is the bathroom.
It's pretty dark in this bathroom, but I look here really like it especially at night time. I always put on a diffuser and it's kind of like cozy. I just have some of my toiletries and this mirror I have a lot of toiletries as well. The bathroom is a decent size. The shower is pretty small. Honestly like shaving in here is not super easy, but I make do.
Here's the toilet. It is kind of funny how little space there is getting between the counter and the shower. I kind of have to like shimmy in, but it works.
Okay, now we're moving on to the main like kitchen, dining, and living area. I feel like with tiny houses you always end up having like a really nice open concept feel. Like the kitchen and dining room and living room are typically one room and I just love that.
I love that it gives you so many opportunities to move things around.
Like where your dining table is, you can put a couch instead. You can switch things around all the time and figure out what layout you like best. So, the first thing you see when you walk into my tiny house is my kitchen. There's currently a lot going on because I have an extra coffee machine that typically I don't use, but right now my other coffee machine's broken, so I'm using this one.
And then I recently just got this new water filter machine and it's very big, so there's just a lot going on right here. I keep all of my dishes up here on these floating shelves. I got these off Amazon and I love them. Like I love the color. They actually match my countertops absolutely perfectly, which is awesome. Then we have my big sink. I love my sink so much. Before I was living in my tiny house, I was living in my parents' guest house. So, it's kind of funny. I feel like I've just been hopping around my parents' property forever and I love the guest house. I loved it so much. We ended up just wanting to use it for like the actual purpose of it, having as a guest house, and it's been really convenient for us because we do have a lot of guests and I have older siblings that come into town.
The only thing I miss about the guest house is that it had a dishwasher and in the tiny house, I do not have a dishwasher. I hand wash everything and honestly, I've gotten really used to it.
Like it's not that annoying. The only thing is that when I get really busy and dishes get backed up, [music] it's very annoying. I really wanted a big sink, especially since I knew I was going to be hand washing things. Also, I love my faucet.
I also love my big window above the kitchen sink. I wanted a window so badly. When we were building this house, I had to figure out if I wanted the house to be this way or this way. So, my view was either going to be of the forest that's behind me or of the house in the front and I chose the house. The light hits this house so perfectly and it comes through this big kitchen window and it's so beautiful and sunny and I love it. I also like getting to see what people are up to. Like I can see when people are in the pool or just walking around. Over here, this is my drying rack where I put all of my my This is my like water station. Now I have my water filter that's over here, but before I had it, I was using my Brita. I have a little Sonic ice machine that's currently off because it's really noisy when I'm trying to film. And then up here I have this little organizer. In my organizer, I have some water cups, I have my water bottle, my Owala. So it's all together in one spot. Down below, I have my mini fridge, which surprisingly has been enough space all of these years. I've never felt like I needed a bigger fridge. And then I have so much cabinet space. I love my kitchen. This spring I painted it pink, and [music] it was the best decision I've ever made. I think the makeover I did in my house this last spring was truly a game-changer. I decided to add a lot of color to my house. Before there was a lot of white in here. Now I feel like it's so colorful and girly, and it just feels like somebody lives here versus like a perfect little white box. I love my pink runner here. I got this from Quince. So the newest addition of my kitchen is my new coffee bar. Me, my mom, and my boyfriend built this whole piece of furniture, and I love it. First of all, I feel like it separates the kitchen and the dining room really well.
It kind of adds like a boundary almost, and I feel like it makes the flow of the room feel so good. There's enough walk space here, which is great, but it's still like a big size to where when I'm making my coffee it feels like I'm at my coffee bar. I'm not just in the kitchen.
My coffee bar truly is amazing. I've made tons of videos about my coffee bar, so if you want to see like an in-depth detailed [music] video about everything on my bar, you can check those out. I'll link them down below. I was a barista for a year, and my favorite thing about it was just like how comforting making coffee is. It's like the sounds, it's the smell, it's the fact that it's hands-on. And so getting to make my coffee every single morning is probably my favorite part of the day, I won't lie. And usually I do it twice a day because no one can stop me. Now that I have my own coffee bar, I can make as much as I want.
>> [music] >> There's tons of storage space underneath the coffee bar. I have cups and then I have espresso glasses. Don't mind that it's like a little cluttered right now.
I just did my dishes and so things are just yeah, kind of messy. Here's the top of the coffee bar. I also love that it's right by this big window. I love that I can see the forest out here. Also, on really sunny days like today, it's just beautiful. Just look at those trees.
Sunlight peaking through a tree, I think, is my favorite beautiful visual I've ever seen. So, this is my espresso machine. This is currently the grinder that's not working and that's why I'm using my other coffee machine right now, but I have all these beautiful mugs, some tulips. These are very spring summer vibes. I love them. I actually found these at TJ Maxx for like $10 and they're so cute. This is my coffee knock box. It's looking really gross. I've only had this for a couple weeks, but I think just cuz I use it so much, there's like dried coffee on it. I'm going to have to deep clean it very soon. I also love that it overlooks the dining room.
For a long time living in my tiny house, I didn't have a dining room. I just didn't really think it was important.
Instead, where my dining table currently is, I had a couch, which is just like, looking back, kind of silly to me because my couch is very short. It's very like low to the ground and the dining room is like the tallest part of the tiny house and so it kind of felt like this tiny little couch was floating in this massive room and it just felt like a waste of space once I realized, but for a long time I thought it was really cute. So, it's just funny how like your opinions can change over time, but I truly love having an actual dining table and a dining room. I love eating my meals here. because I can look out and see the forest or when the weather's really nice, I can open the sliding doors and feel like just a natural breeze come through. It's very peaceful.
This is my dining table. This is an old farmhouse table that my mom let me steal from her. Then I got these farmhouse chairs. I found these on Facebook Marketplace. It was like, I think, I want to say $20 for all three chairs. My beloved pink tulips are the center of attention in the dining room. Like, okay, take a look at what you're seeing right now. Like everything looks really beautiful, okay? Take these away. Look how empty it looks. It just shows that sometimes like finding the perfect design for your house isn't that complicated and it could just be one thing. Between my coffee bar and my dining table, I have this really nice big mirror. I love having a body mirror right here. For a long time, I didn't have a nice body mirror. I literally was using a teeny one and this is my favorite thing ever. I take so many like Instagram mirror selfies now and I love it. It's so much fun. I also have a big window in my dining room. I'll go ahead and open these curtains. Over here, I usually have my guitar but my little brothers took it recently and I forgot to go get it back. [laughter] Here are my sliding doors that have a perfect view of the forest. So, this out here is my deck and my forest. Okay, so then moving on to my living room area. This is my favorite room. It's very just cozy and comfy. For starters, I have this big comfy seat right here. This is where I sit majority of the time. I have a little hamper with my favorite blanket.
This blanket I've literally had since I was like 10, I think and it's disgusting but it's so comforting. I have this large light right here which actually lights up the whole space at night time.
I have some floating shelves and just some trinkets, another diffuser. I love when my house smells like essential oils. I just love it. There's another really big window and sliding door. I'm really glad that we were so intentional about lighting because since my house is like right in the forest, there are a lot of trees just covering the sun and we added so many windows to the tiny house plans and I honestly think if we didn't do that, it would be really dark in here and it'd be hard for me to vlog.
It'd be hard for me to just like be happy because I love the sunlight. I typically keep these curtains closed actually though. I just like how cozy it is in here. So, then I have my laundry hamper and then this is my work bag.
Here I added a little dresser at the beginning of the year. This has a lot of my winter clothes in here. Then I have my coffee table. I have more tulips and then this really fun carpet. I actually thrifted this coffee table. I'm obsessed with it but it recently broke. I don't know if you guys can see that. Then I have my sofa. This is the one that is pretty low to the ground. I love my sofa. I feel like it fits a lot better in this room though because the ceilings are lower in here because the loft is above. All of my fun pillows are from Quince. I love these pillows. The pillow inserts themselves are a little floppy.
Like my pillows always kind of just look like this. This one's kind of slaying right now. It's like upright. But typically they're pretty floppy, but I kind of like it. It's very comfy. So, in my living room I also have my closet. We custom built this unit at IKEA. Starting with over here, there was like a pretty good amount of space left over. So, I added a little curtain and behind the curtain I store some of my camera gear that's not super aesthetic. It's a good way to keep things looking clean and organized. I use this side of the closet for formal clothing and also like big winter wear that I don't have room for in my little dresser. I can't open it the whole way because of the couch, but it's okay because this stuff is like more of like rare occasion clothing items. I also have my fun cork board to put photos on going the whole way down my closet door. This is actually where I put my dirty white colored clothing to separate them from my regular clothing.
There's a space for storage in the center. Then this is like where all of my everyday clothing is. It's a decent amount of space. I haven't really had problems with it. The last section in my tiny house is the loft. This is where I sleep. And to get there we have to go up the ladder. So, let's go.
>> [music] >> Here is my loft. My bedding is just this cozy pinkish brown color. Next to my bed right here I have my bedside table. This just has some books in it and just like some random bedside things. I have my little lamp, a room spray. This is the remote that controls the fan up here. I pretty much always try to keep the fan on so that air is circulating throughout the day so it's not really hot when I sleep. These are my pillows. I have these really nice stripy pillows combined with the pinkish brown color and I really like it. This is Chooche, my dinosaur, and this is the newest addition of the family. This is Lacy. My boyfriend bought me Lacy in Mexico. Then up here I also have two huge windows.
And honestly from certain angles it does kind of feel like a lot of space. This right here is my prayer board. I basically just write myself notes and reminders to pray for certain things.
Here is my little extension cord that goes all the way downstairs through that little hole right there. I have a little trash can, and then I love this fluffy white carpet that I have. It's so soft.
This is the view of downstairs from the top of my loft. Sometimes in the morning, I like will stop and just notice how beautiful my house looks and I'm like, "Wow." All right, let's go back down. The tiny house has definitely come a long way from where it started. I feel like design-wise, it's just at [music] its peak right now. I love it.
If you guys are new and haven't seen my YouTube videos, make sure to subscribe because pretty much all of my vlogs center around me being in my tiny house because this is where I live. I love it so much and yeah, I've been really enjoying documenting the process here on this channel of living in a tiny house and making it my perfect home. I love you guys. Thank you for watching and I'll see you in the next video. Bye.
