[00:00:06]The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned until the 15th of June for ruling on an application by the presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, seeking the recusal of Justice Muhammad Umar from his ongoing trial. At the resumed hearing, Mr. Sowore informed the court that he would represent himself pending the engagement of a new legal team. He claimed his lawyers were unwilling to appear before the court due to what he described as humiliation suffered during previous proceedings.

[00:00:35]Mr. Sowore subsequently moved two applications asking the judge to step aside over alleged bias and seeking the transfer of the case to another judge.

[00:00:46]The prosecution opposed the request describing them as an abuse of court process intended to frustrate the proceeding. In a brief ruling, Justice Umar said he will review the filings before delivering a decision on the 15th of this month.
