Racist Uber Driver Tells Black Woman Not To Put On Lip Gloss

[00:00:00]My people, I've got to just get into this, man. Like this young lady here flipped the screen at her. I see this video and I'm just like, "Bro, like and I don't even need to even know that the Uber driver that is driving this car is not black. Like she's putting on lip gloss.

[00:00:42]America, the racism with Uber drivers madness. But I saw some segments on in the UK, but I thought let me just show my support, man. One thing that man that disgusts me is seeing man's little sisters, seeing man's mom, seeing man's aunties on the streets doing what they need to do, trying to cut through and you've got Uber drivers talking about don't be putting on lip gloss. Like let's even get into this, my my people. But yeah, man, it's very important that man spread awareness to all these things.

[00:06:42]Um and then the taxi came and I entered the car and it was a white guy driving the car.

[00:06:51]Um first of all, he went and parked somewhere. I had to walk to him.

[00:06:56]The moment I opened the door, he just looked at me.

[00:07:01]You know, and then I went and I sit I sat down and I said, "Hello."

[00:07:05]He said, "Can I have your PIN?"

[00:07:08]And I said, "Yeah, I'll just get it for you now."

[00:07:11]And then he looked at me. He said, "Get out of my car.

[00:07:15]Just get out."

[00:07:17]I said, "Get out. Why?

[00:07:20]What happened? I only just got in."

[00:07:23]He said, "I don't want to carry you anymore."

[00:07:27]I said, "Why?" He said, "I just don't want to."

[00:07:30]And when you've experienced racism, you know the feeling. You know the the way they look at you, you know.

[00:07:39]And the way this guy was looking at me in a such a demeaning way. And mind you, I was dressed to the T. I was going for a fashion show. I was dressed my outfit probably cost in the a total of maybe 8,000 pounds or so.

[00:08:03]>> dressed to the T with all my designer bags and everything. Had a lovely perfume on. So, I wasn't even looking any tacky or anything.

[00:08:17]And I said, "You don't like me, don't you?"

[00:08:21]And he looked at me and then he looked away.

[00:08:25]I said, "You're asking me to get out because you don't like black people very much, do you?"

[00:08:30]He said, "Hm, not really."

[00:08:33]I said, "Yes, really. I mean, it's written all over you.

[00:08:38]You don't like black people."

[00:08:40]He said, "Yeah, I don't. Get out."

[00:08:45]>> Crazy.

[00:08:50]>> I was like, "Wow."

[00:08:54]He said, "Get out. Yeah, I don't. Get out."

[00:08:58]So, he literally admitted that he was being racist.

[00:09:07]I I shed a tear because Yes, I have experienced racism. There are sometimes when I go into London, I go hail a black cab. Once I get to You know the black cabs, they they line up, so you go turn by turn.

[00:09:24]When it gets to my turn, the black cab says, "Go to the next one." And when I go to the next one, the the next one says, "Go to the one in front because it's him first before me."

[00:09:35]And when I go back to him, he's like, "I'm not carrying you." So, I have experienced that. But, this one, there was just something about this one.

[00:09:45]I It was as if the ground should open and I should just go in it, like And I looked at him. I said, "You're such a racist. You can't even hide it."

[00:09:57]It's so sad.

[00:09:59]>> though, isn't it? It is absolutely disgusting. Disgusting, disgusting, disgusting.

[00:10:04]>> that you you see someone who you don't even know and you I just I was actually short for words.

[00:10:14]And I came out of his car.

[00:10:16]I, you know, shut the door and I went back home. I was literally shaking. I was shaking. I had tears in my eyes. And then, when my husband saw me coming back, he was like, "I thought you'd left, babe." I said, "No, the taxi didn't carry me. Look at what he said."

[00:10:33]and what he did. And my husband was so upset. He said, "Did you take his car plate? Do you have his his details?" So, I went into the Uber app and I got his details out. So, I went to Uber and I'm going to post screenshots um here um of my conversations with Uber. So, I reported the incident to Uber and I said >> I want to see that I just want to see the outcome.

[00:10:58]Cuz sometimes you just have to go online and just get the evidence and post the evidence and all of a sudden, [ __ ] We need to act on this.

[00:11:06]>> I've been, you know, um profiled. I was, um you know, someone one of your drivers was racist to me. And they came back, you know what they say, "Oh, um who or what happened?" And I went and I explained everything. Um um and then, they came back and said, "Oh, we're so sorry you experienced that.

[00:11:29]Um Um, we are going to try not to match you with the same driver in the future.

[00:11:36]And that was it.

[00:11:38]That was all Uber did. That was it.

[00:12:02]I'm not reporting that I was overcharged. I'm not reporting that the driver didn't pick me up on time. I'm reporting that your driver was racist to me.

[00:12:13]And all you can say is we're going to try not to pair you with the same driver next time."

[00:12:54]Um, yeah, it took me some time to actually recover from this. And this just goes to show what these people do to sort of break your spirit. But my spirit will never be broken.
