The digital nomad lifestyle requires consistent work (typically 8 hours daily) and financial arbitrage (earning in stronger currencies while spending in lower-cost countries), but social media often misrepresents it as a vacation-like existence without work; legitimate reasons to pursue this lifestyle include genuine interest in new experiences and leveraging financial advantages, while those seeking to avoid work or achieve a 'baller lifestyle' without effort will likely be disappointed.

Digital Nomads Are SCAMMERSAdded:
What you see from digital nomads are people with their laptops on the beach, people on like a tropical resort. It looks like they're on vacation every single day of their life. And what I need you guys to realize is that pretty much all the social media is fake. Not just like this digital nomad stuff, but like all of it. Most of the content that's put out is put out by people that want to kind of floss on you and kind of flex this fake lifestyle for the sake of likes and for the sake of attention.
Because the reality is I have never seen anybody actually working on a laptop on the beach. They go there, they take a photo, they work for like 5 minutes maybe, and then they put it away and they go swimming. So for a lot of people, I think that the idea of being a digital nomad, they're attracted to it the same way they're attracted to a lot of things on the internet. It seems like a get-richquick type of lifestyle.
Throughout the history of the internet, there's always kind of been certain industries that have been a little bit like scammy. Not saying that the industry itself is a scam, but it attracts a lot of people that are kind of full of For a long time, it was digital marketing, uh, coaching, like holistic coaching, lifestyle coaching is a big thing. Anything around mindfulness, anything about crypto, anything about stock trading, day trading, forex trading, even like workout programs, they kind of attract a lot of like borderline scammers. And unfortunately, I think the digital nomad lifestyle is starting to become one of those categories. Now, I'm not saying that anything that I listed is a scam.
Obviously, I don't think going to the >> So, what I have realized from what he's talking about as far as it being a scam, the lifestyle is not necessarily a scam, but people look at the whole working on the beach with a laptop and constantly out taking shots every night. That is a very realistic lifestyle. I've done it.
The thing is, you can go broke and you'll have to go back home because what they're not mentioning is you have to work. Uh it is the lifestyle is being sold as you don't have to work. You do need to work if you're going to be a digital nomad. Uh that that is as obvious as that may sound that that's what it actually is. People are feeling like they don't have to work. And people are selling the digital nomad lifestyle to be like, "Hey, buy my course. Hey, like I sell a job list." Those are things that I have that can help people.
But that shit's not my like that's not what's making sure my bills are paid every month. Like the whole webinars and all that. Yeah, the stuff makes good money, but it's not me. Like that's some people are on the fake it till you make it and they're living abroad full-time off of you believing that they can help you get to it. Listen, if I stopped selling my digital products that were about becoming a digital nomad, I would just sell travel guides over the city that I've been to, I would do my consultation calls. You guys know I received donations, very, very good amount of donations, especially this month, considering I got robbed too in the previous month and many months before.
Um, you know, YouTube pays like there's other stuff that I do then this that's just something that I provide, but that's not that's not the end all beall for me. gym is a scam. I follow Tony Robbins. I read his books. I think that mindfulness and self-empowerment is really important, but it's the industry that attracts a lot of scammers. And again, digital nomading has just kind of reached that point where a lot of people are kind of trying to sell you the lifestyle, a fake lifestyle, uh, a false representation of the lifestyle to get you to eventually buy something, right?
The biggest red flag is when people try to get you to buy their course or buy anything. Anything that makes you give money through that person, red flag should be going up. Now, I'm definitely not trying to discourage you from trying to become a digital nomad. I just think that if you're going into it for the wrong reasons, which most people are, you will be wildly disappointed, and you'll regret the decision. But if you're going into it for the right reasons, then it's great because what do I actually think about this lifestyle?
Well, for me, I think it's the greatest experience of my life. I'm incredibly grateful. I enjoy every single day of it, and I hope it never ends. I was on my way back home, but I stopped by the river. Is this a park? I don't know what to call this, but look at look at this.
It these shops and what selling burgers and but it doesn't seem kind of looks like digital nomad for the right reason.
I don't mean that there are good reasons and bad reasons, okay? I'm not like condemning certain reasons and glorifying other reasons. I'm just letting you know realistically which reasons I think will lead you to disappointment and which ones will make you have a good time. And to me, the only like wrong reason is this idea that you're going to have some sort of like baller lifestyle if you're a digital nomad. You're going to go to parties all the time. You're going to go clubbing.
You're going to go live in a tropical paradise. And you get to live it up and never have to work. A lot of people in the comments ask me how do they find a remote job because they think a remote job is an easy job. It's still a job.
It's still a 9-to-five job for most people. It's still a 40 hours a week job for most people. And most digital nomads, they spend most of their time working or at home just like anybody else. Most of my >> I'm going to give you guys a good example. The digital broman is a guy who helps people get online jobs.
Legitimately, that is one of the things he does with his business. I forgot what his real job is, but that's something that he does and he's not like me where he can make like his like my job is creating content and that content can literally be me out drinking or you know last year I was doing me out socializing with women, me going to clubs. I mean I obviously I can't hang out at the club and do that stuff all day but me in IRL doing normal things is me working. I cannot choose to turn off my laptop, my live streams, and stop posting videos.
Yeah, I'll still be in Vietnam. I'll be in Vietnam and broke. So, the majority of the time I'm working like I'm probably going to be in this live stream today for a total of 3 hours and then after that I'm going edit my videos. I'm still work I'm I still work eight hours a day, you know, on top of doing regular life. It just seems like I don't do much because I'm essentially living on vacation. But I mean it feels like well actually for me maybe with you watching it feels like I'm on vacation but for me I feel like I'm still doing the same thing I was doing when I was in the states just a different job in a different location. Uh so yes again you have to work. That is the entire most obvious thing that you should take from what he's saying.
>> My day is still behind a computer working. A remote job isn't like a hack.
Some people think >> I was trying to say that yes, digital bromemed was not always available. Like he was working, he had a girlfriend, has a girlfriend. Uh, you know, he couldn't just hang out all day. Now, if you're like army guy travels, he was in the military. He gets a military check for the rest of his life. So, that allows him to not have to work. He does YouTube, but I mean, not for money based off the conversation that we had. So he can do it. He can act. Those are the true Listen, the only people that are truly living that hanging out, drinking at 7:00 a.m. because you don't have anything to do today, playing volleyball at the beach all the time, dating a bunch of women, just doing just pretty much living on vacation are guys that have some sort of good pension coming in or retirement u or a military check coming in. And usually you're not going to be able to sustain that type of lifestyle that I just described unless if you got about 5 grand a month coming in. Not don't believe these idiots that will tell you, "Oh, you can uh go to Thailand and live this exact same lifestyle where I'm out partying every night, eating out three times a day, riding in Ubers or uh Bolts everywhere I go or Grabs or whatever they decide to use, and dating a whole bunch of dating three and four different women every week. That is expensive anywhere you go in the world. It's just going to be less expensive there. And you cannot do it with a $1,500 a month income. $1,500 a month income is surviving in that country. I don't care what nobody says.
You will be surviving.
Okay? I know people in Kenya that make $600 a month. They have a place to stay.
They use public transportation. They have food in the refrigerator. But if I ask them to come meet me at a restaurant and have a couple drinks, they don't have the extra money to do it. That is the difference >> in the sense that >> that's basically like saying, okay, yeah, you can go live in Dallas, Texas with a $3,000 a month income. Sure, you you'll be able to pay rent. You'll be able to put groceries in the refrigerator, but you won't be able to really have no sort of lifestyle outside of just going to work and paying bills.
It's the same type of logic >> that you can get all the benefits of a job without having to work. It doesn't work like that. How do you find a remote job? the exact same way that you find any other job. What skills do you need to have a remote job? The same skills you need to have any other job. It's just a job. Now, of course, people are going to say there are certain jobs that are better for remote working. They're going to say things like freelancing, things like being an entrepreneur. But guess what? Even if you're not a digital nomad, these things make it easier to be a not digital nomad as well. Does that make sense? Even if you're not traveling and you're just staying in your hometown, being an entrepreneur or being a freelancer gives you freedom over your time. The things that give you freedom at home also give you freedom as a digital nomad. Okay, rant's over because the people that are looking to be a digital nomad for the wrong reasons.
They're not listening to anything that I'm saying right now. There's nothing I can say to convince them and they're still going to be going around looking for like a new life hack to not have to be able to work and get all benefits.
So, let's go back to the positives.
Let's go back to why I think being a digital nomad is amazing. So, what are those two reasons I talked about? The first one is for people that genuinely like new experiences. They like meeting new people. They like experiencing new cultures, new foods, just new things in general. Obviously, I don't have to explain this one. If you're a digital nomad, you're traveling, you're going all over the place, you're experiencing new things, new people. I love it. And if this is an experience and this is a life that sounds appealing to you, then you'll love being a digital nomad as well. So, the second reason is a little bit more practical. It's about the financial arbitrage that you can do.
Now, I know not everybody watching this is making US dollars or from a western country, but about 85% of you guys watching this are from the US. So, I'm talking to you guys. If you're from the US, you're living in one of the most expensive countries in the world. And if you're making a normal salary in US dollars and you're spending it in a place like Vietnam, your money goes a lot lot further. Let's say you're making $50,000 a year in the US, you're probably in the top 1% of income when you come here to Vietnam. Now, this is great for people that are retired. They want their money to stretch a long way.
But I specifically want to focus in on entrepreneurs. If you're an entrepreneur or you're someone that's entrepreneurial or want to be an entrepreneur, I think that being a digital nomad and taking advantage of this financial arbitrage is really, really powerful. And the reason for this is that most people's biggest stress and biggest worry in life is money. And if you're entrepreneurial and you want to pursue something that does not have a guaranteed income and something that you don't know when you'll be able to get an income or a financial return from being a digital nomad takes that stress off of your back when you have high living expenses like rent in the US.
>> Yes. Exactly. So, if you wanted to start a online business selling um I don't know, selling leather wallets online and you have the expense of the $1,500 a month for small one-bedroom in Dallas and all the other expenses that come out to around 2500 after everything's said and done because you have to have a car in many American cities. that 2500 can live your survival cost of 2500 living in Dallas can be cut down to somewhere around 700 survival cost right that's survival cost and that extra what is that that extra two almost $2,000 almost $2,000 that you have back in your pocket goes a long way when you are entrepreneur starting your own business so yeah that uh the guy's uh channel is called David and Kim I guess it's him and his girlfriend or wife or whatever Uh, make sure you guys go check out his channel. I'll have my job link, my job list in the first pin comment that allows you to work or work from anywhere around the world for up to $20 per hour.
And as he said, it is still a job. Uh, that does not mean you just sign up and you can go drink coconut rum on the beach every day. You still have to go work. Uh, that'll be linked in the first pin comment. You need that if you guys are looking to become a digital nomad.
I'll see you guys in the next video.
