Successful thrifting requires strategic shopping at multiple locations, understanding discount systems (such as color-coded tags at American Thrift offering 50% off purple/white/blue tags and 20% off yellow tags), and researching items online to determine fair market value. Thrift stores often contain valuable vintage items including signed artwork, collectible glassware, and designer pieces that can be resold for profit. Key strategies include checking rest stops for collectibles like Beanie Baby boxes, understanding membership benefits, and recognizing that items with damage (chips, cracks) may still have value if they are rare or from sought-after brands.

THRIFT WITH ME | Miami’s BEST Hidden Vintage Spots!Added:
Are you having a good time, Adam? Yeah.
Hey everybody, it's Sam with Jolie Flips Vintage. Adam is not here with us today.
He is going down to the beach to snorkel and check out the air show. Skipping that because I can't do the heat. It is like 90 degrees here in South Florida.
But if ever you get a chance to check out the air show in Fort Lauderdale, it really is beautiful. We live beachside.
He just walked down the street. I got to see them practice yesterday. So that was enough for me. You and I are going to Miami and we're going to attempt to hit up three thrift stores. Actually, maybe four. I think we're going to hit up American Thrift and Hyalia, which is a fairly new thrift store, but I found some really good stuff there. Um, in the past, I don't know if you guys remember the drawer, the Figural Woman drawer, uh, with the flower, if you know what I mean, which is the drawer. Anyway, I found that Jonathan Adler one there. So, we're going to check that out. And then we're going to go to American Thrift in Cutler Bay. We're probably going to go there first because it's super far away.
It's like an hour and a half away. Hit that like button and subscribe to our channel for more thrifty goodness. Let's go. Wow, that is a long drive and it is Mother's Day weekend, so it is so busy, very trafficicky. But I stopped off.
We're only about 10 minutes away from the Cutler Bay. We have stopped at a turnpike rest stop because Adam and I usually do that to see if there's any Ty Beanie Belly boxes. I collect them. And let's go to the Shell gas station and see.
Oh, I do hope so. I did find some last time I was here.
These are the beanie bouncers.
They're different. They're like little balls.
They would be here. Let's see. All right. I think I see. Let me put my keys there for one second. Look how cute the hippo is. Oh my gosh. We should totally get a house hippo and sell it on knickknacks. The hippos are so cute. All right, I see one fox.
Oh, you want to come home with me? Just so you know, these ones are named Wit.
See, it's written on their tag, Wit. All right, let me put the phone down for a second. I'm going to dig around. As far as the fox goes, there's only one, but look how cute this one is. Oh my goodness. And then I think I saw the axelottle that I thought was adorable, too. And then this one, they call it trickster.
So cute. But um Oops, did I drop that?
So yeah, at least we found one. I think Adam will be so happy. We rescue them all the time. Coming home with me, sweetie. What a very interesting bird.
Have you guys ever seen a bird like that? What is that? He's beautiful. All right, so here we finally are at American Thrift in Cutler Bay, Florida.
It's in the Fortis College Plaza. So, uh, easy to find. So, you will find that the prices are a tad bit, uh, high, but um, it is worth it.
Sometimes you find like exceptionally high-end stuff here. So, the Saturday sale is 50% off of the entire store with purple, white, and blue tags. We'll take this little print out. And then 20% off yellow tags, 30% off all perfume, sunglasses, there's all sorts of stuff. 30% off of lamps. I am a member. I pay $12 a month and I get a lot of points and then extra discounts. Um, if I'm not mistaken, I think that they're opening an American Thrift in Orlando.
I thought so. Look at this. It's an ashtray.
Red caboose restaurant.
Isn't that interesting?
20 bucks.
White tag, but it was half off. H, let me think about it. I just walked in.
There's stuff behind the counter that look interesting. Couple Loos, but I never really got into Loos. There's a really nice peacock there. It's green.
Green is not on sale. I don't know. Am I seeing 50 bucks for that brass?
Peacock.
Maybe there's some cards over there. I wonder if any of them are um like Magic the Gather. Hi, friend. Can I see the two paintings there?
>> Um paintings small.
>> See?
>> See? Can I see them? Thanks.
>> I just want to see if they're enamel and copper. They're actually paintings, though. They're so pretty. And it's 20% off today.
>> They're interesting. I don't know if they're paintings or like prints, you know. This is really pretty. Yeah. Let me think. Thank you so much. They have a really nice selection on jewelry as well. Here, check this out. 149. This looks old. I know. See, I told you kind of expensive, but we'll find stuff. One of Adam's favorite things about this place is that they have a really nice book selection. Look, I mean, you could be here for like over an hour just looking at books. The shelves are packed. Kind of excited. I'm going to be a little picky today. I know I usually say that and then I end up like filling up my cart, but I have to be. Um, let's see. This looks like compel. You know compel? Yeah, it is. Look. Fancy de compare a $1.99. You know what? Let me pop that in my cart. I have to I put things in my cart and then I look them up later. This one's probably missing um a key, but it's really nice. Look at the marketry on it. $14.99.
Music box.
Um I think I'll pass for 14 though.
These little Joseph originals are only like This one's $2.99. This one's $2.99.
This one has a a repair on the two. I think I'm going to leave it just in case somebody wants them or needs them. That was a good deal on those though.
Pyroraphic box here for $2.99. They wrote directly on it. Um I'm still going to pick it up though because those kind of boxes do pretty well for me. Inside looks pretty clean, so we'll definitely do that. Here's a dollar horse. Uh they want $14.99 and there's a big chip on it. Honestly, this does not go for a whole lot. I know it's a Lind Shammer Sweden, but um they don't. So, I mean, with the chip and everything to I don't think so. Here's a nice old teacup and saucer with birds. Is this repaired anywhere?
No. Um that's a good deal with the birds. Mount Rushmore suncatcher. I think for $2.99 is kind of cute.
Oh, look at this. Giraffe. Giraffes.
$7.99.
Purple is half off. Yeah. I'm not sure though. Do they call it mayonnaise?
A mayonnaise thing? I don't know. It's only $4.99. I like it. It has a little ladle. Another teacup bun saucer. This one's $7.99.
Um, it looks newer. I don't think I want to pick that up for $7.99, though. Then there's here another one. The blue is really pretty. $3.99.
Okay, we'll have to unravel it at the cash register to see if there's if it's broken. Is this Shannon or Ter? Terra.
Yeah, Terra. Royal Terra.
Mhm. If it was Bleak, maybe.
Oh, it's neat. I wonder if it has anything to do with Disney or is it Alice in Wonderland? What am I looking at? $2.99. It's a light switch. I'm going to put in here and we'll just I'll look it up. And what the heck is that?
There's always like things here that I go, "What the heck is that? What the heck is that?" Uh, these are really nice. Oh, is that a bear? Yeah, it's glass. It's $5.99, but I think it's kind of neat. And this is like a moose.
Again, got to look them up. I think it's pretty old. They want 40 bucks for it.
And wow, look how well made this is. Wo.
It's kind of creepy how well made it is honestly.
Wow. 40 bucks.
It's It's so realistic.
Look at her.
These are nice. Here's an old Is it old?
Uh, let's see. No. 2021 Snoopy.
Sand art for $2.99, I think, is a yes. And it's Is it ready to hang? No. You would probably need a a little sand.
Wow, look at this Hello Kitty. She is a Oh, wow.
She's kind of well paid. She's broken though. It's someone's project.
Wow.
I see a pretty cool manora or something back there. Let's see.
Oh, yeah.
Exclusive design, huh?
It has significant amount of wear. But wow, I do like that. $14.99 though. This is pretty incredible. It's NRO Sweden and they want 20 bucks for it and it's half off. So, um, yeah, as long as there's no chips or cracks, I mean, I'll pay 10 bucks for that. That's fine.
So definitely definitely lots of treasures here. I like that. What is it exactly? Uh it's an Inuit and a seal and it's signed.
1999.
1999. What?
Green.
Not half off.
It's like a little heart spatoon.
Not a spatoon though.
Cute. I believe in teddy bears.
Okay, I believe in teddy bears.
What we got back there? I think we've got a George Briard maybe. Yeah, it's pretty worn though. $7.99. I like George Briard stuff, but they never seem to sell well for me. This is a cool plaque.
Let's see if I can pick it up without dropping anything. Wow, look at the texture. $3.99 per botura.
Made in Italy.
No chips or cracks. $3.99.
Isn't that something? Yeah, I'm a big tile person. Oh my gosh, we haven't even made it down there yet. And we're finding so many things. I was uh hoping this was something like special cuz I like the design. Made in China. And I believe this uh is from Ross or something. Oh, what is that little box under there with the rose? $14.99 but half off. It's very warped. I like the red uh glass though. What's that? Ooh, an ashtray. Uh carved wood. Look at these. They're always so chipped up.
These are always priced so high, but they do sell pretty high when they're in good condition. $20 green.
Doesn't this look like a Viking ship?
Maybe it's all broken though. $2.99. USS something it says on the bottom.
Actually, I'm finding a ball. Oh, it's a little Christmas tree with presents.
$7.99.
Uh, red. We'll leave it. I'm sure there's stuff that I've missed that you guys caught. It's just my eyes are kind of like trying to focus. There's so many things. Look at all these little swan salt sellers. It's like a bunch of them.
Or a little airplane. Oh, it looks like they put plants in them. Oh, what's that? Oh, wow. Look. Is it Italian?
$7.99. Oh, there's a zero. What's wrong with it? Oh, we just need to replace this thing. I think that's fairly easy to replace. So, yeah, it's half off of $8. Let's make sure there's no chips or cracks. Yeah, I could just buy one off of Amazon. I think this looks like Simon Pierce.
Is it? Look at that. Seven Pierce does a similar thing. I don't know. It would be I think it would be marked if it was. I don't know that I like the colors, you know. Okay. I'm sorry. Is that a fresh cart? What in the world? Okay, so what I found in the fresh cart and I try not to knock anything over. You know, it's like pretty piled up, so I'm afraid to like really dig in there. But I found this.
It's a little chip on her arm. Doesn't she look very old? She's chalkware.
$7.99. I'll have to do a little research on her. She's got um issues. Then I found these little cherubs to hang. They It says made in Italy. And those always come in handy around the holidays.
$2.99 each. So this is um >> I don't know if this is silver overlay.
$2.99.
I'm going to have to look this one up.
It's a planter. It's $7.99.
There's a zero on it.
>> No, nothing's wrong with it.
H.
>> It's probably made in Italy. I am going to pop it in the cart. Actually, >> these are really cool. They're dicroic coasters. $1.99. I wonder if they're Kurt McVey. I'm not going to look these up. I know for sure I'll get these. Look at that clock.
35. It's in someone's cart for like $70.
It's Hammocker Schlmer.
I don't know how to say that. Check out this with a little dragonfly in the middle. $1.99. Let's see if it sits properly. It does.
$20. Like all chipped up. Oh, what's that back there?
That's mid-century looking.
There's a chip in there. It's nice. They did a good job. This is beautiful. It's exclusively for Elizabeth Ardan. $10, though. Are you pottery or resin? Cuz if you're pottery, you're coming home. No, this is resin.
These are stencils. Um, this looks like a very 1980s mug. It's nice, though.
Something clay and color. $4.99.
No.
Any other cool stuff? What about like anthropology or something?
I'd be surprised if I can't find that.
This looks like poor Marion. It's not Meritage.
I love recycled glass. It's so pretty.
Not going to buy just one though. But 99 Costa Bota $7.99. You can get them for like 99 cents or $2. That's a good quick flip. They almost always sell for like 2025.
Oh, that's so pretty.
I've never seen one like that before.
And it's like pretty intact. $1.99.
It's a candle.
California compliant.
I don't know if that's Lily Pulitzer.
This is beautiful. Waterford marquee by Waterford.
Okay, here's another very old teacup that's very beautifully painted. $3.99. Look.
See that? That crack is like a deep craze that goes through, but collectors don't, in my experience, don't really care about that because they know how old the item is. So, this one's nice.
$3.99. Made in Japan.
I'm looking for old stuff. Like, this is This one's pretty old. The bird. $3.99.
Now, we could sell it as a set cuz we got the other one. We have stumbled upon someone's teacup collection.
Oh, this is nice. They're flash painted.
All right, I got to speed it up because we got to make three other stops and they're not really close to here. I was going to check out some Goodwills out here, but honestly, I don't really get lucky at Goodwill. Um, and out here, I do in Southwest Florida, so we were actually supposed to go there today, but Adam wanted to check out the air show, so we'll probably maybe go during the week. Who's that?
Okay, what are we looking at here?
It's just beautiful plate.
Oh, it's a pottery 1972.
Really nice. This looks Italian.
I don't know. This one goes with it.
Nice mug. Lucky Brand. Oh, didn't even know they made mugs. Wow, look at this.
Oh, the glaze. Oh, the glaze. What do you mean $3.99?
I mean, get in there. $3.99. Get out of here.
Oh, are those some like Tanala egg cups?
Yeah. Ooh, $7.99 each, but half off. Oh, they might be Ken Edwards. See, we got one. So, you got $7 here.
About 11 something dollars. I think we get these. They have birds. Cat house money. It's really chipped.
Cat house money. Look at this little Hello Kitty thing. 2024. So, it's newer.
I try to get the um vintage um Hello Kitty stuff. That's really nice. It's been century. It's so warped though. Somebody made it. 20 bucks screen. What are these brutalist cups?
What? They're like brutal as shot glasses.
Oh, heck no. Yes. Heck yes.
Oh, 20 bucks.
I don't want to pay 20. Mm- All right.
Well, this is $15. It has some kind of like like mixed metal part, but there's like no signature. I have no idea who made it, and I just tried to look it up and I couldn't find it. So, I guess we'll pass on it.
It's like a little penguin.
>> A lot of really nice things here. Wow.
Is that a mirror?
>> 40 bucks for that cool mirror.
Whoa.
>> So nice. I wonder if they're actually paintings.
It looks like it, right? But then upon closer inspection, it's a print and they just put like paint on the outside to make it look like a painting.
It's kind of powerful.
Okay.
Fresh cart is not as fresh as I'd like it to be.
They said the lamps are 30% off. This one's the only one that I think is pretty. It's got some chips on them. I guess it's like a form of tala, maybe. I kind of glanced at the jewelry, but I wasn't really digging it. Gosh, wouldn't that be great if those were like uranium lamb shades? And this is kind of cool.
It says 1989 Renaissance. But see the marker? They wrote directly on the crazing. That's very, very hard. I always say that, but it's true. I It's very very hard to get the marker off cuz it goes underneath the crazing. So, I'm going to have to leave it for that.
Otherwise, I thought that was cool. And uh I hope nobody buys that cuz they'll be really upset when they take it home.
Guess this is like the surplus of mugs.
Oon pen. Oh, I love that place. When I used to be able to eat gluten, I absolutely love Oon Pen. Oh, that is so funny.
Found this. Absolutely beautiful 1970s jewelry box. It's got a little bit of an issue here. But look at the color inside. I'm sure that the mirror was probably replaced at some point. Um, it closes. It's half off of 20. Closes like that. Then you just open it that way.
But it's an overall pretty good condition. Probably slept on Etsy. Yeah.
So, I didn't see anything that I wanted here in jewelry. I'm going to go in a corner there. This is the line. And I'm just going to look the stuff up. All right, guys. So, I'm going to leave the chalkware girl. She's pretty antique.
She's old, but you know, she's not going for much. And it's $8. I saw a very similar one for like 20. So, and it that was not even a sold. This one is a good find. I believe this one is from the '7s. When I look it up online, that's what I see. This is a good find. A very similar one sold on Etsy for like$2.45.
As we're talking, I just made a really good sale for little Tiffany vase. But if you guys like solds videos, definitely wait at the end of the month.
I do a recap of the month and I show you guys my solds at the end of a video. So, just so happy about the sale I just made. All right, so then I'm going to put this back cuz it's already not worth a whole lot and they wrote on it. And I'm also going to put this back. It's only worth like eight bucks, but definitely be on the lookout for this comp. It people say quimper, but um it's actually comp France. I'm honestly confused who made this. Like, it doesn't say anything. There's a number though, 47. My best guess is that it's Italian.
But here's the thing. I don't like that kind of spongewear look, you know? I already I'm not crazy about this weird pinkish orange color. So, I'm going to leave it. I cannot figure out anything about these plaques. My best guess is that they all came together at one point with like fish line or something, but at $5.99 each, I'm not feeling them. Okay, you guys. I can't figure this one out at all. I don't know. It feels like silver, but then it's like super heavy at the same time. Is it marked? It might be marked right there. Yeah, I just took out my magnifying glass. I'm going to take this home. I think there's a marking there. And then I'll test it for silver also. Is it like the Queen of Hearts? Anyway, I just tried to look it up online. I couldn't find it. So, we'll leave this one. I just saw this. That may be pilgrim glass. I don't know.
$2.99. I I don't know. This is really pretty, too. Says Sarovski eyeglass case.
Isn't that beautiful? What a case. Anywh who, I found this beautiful pot. It's only $1.99. It's uh Kravik Studios, Naples, Florida. Yay. Love local stuff.
All right, I'm going to leave the Mount Rushmore little suncatcher. It's really not worth much. Like five bucks.
Look at that.
Weller pottery. Wo. Oh, it goes like that. It's a candle holder.
It's gone. Actually, it says Weller. W I L L E R. Willer caramic. I'm going to have to look this up. Okay, we're going to put it back. It is from Denmark, but um it's not worth a whole lot. Take me home, Sam. Yeah. No.
So, I've decided to leave this as there is a chip and a crack. It's very, very small and it's inside. So, I'm not sure that it would matter. Yeah, I think I'm going to leave that. I think it's Celta giron, you know. I don't know. I'm definitely getting that for the half off of 20. The N bro. Picked these up just cuz I love them. This Oh, we got to look up the tiles. Although, I just love the tiles though. Anyway, no, I don't think I'm going to look them up. Oh, I'm going to go ahead and put this back. cuz this isn't upon the mayonnaise thing. It just seems a little too common for my taste when I really look at it. I mean, I think we did pretty well. Time to go to the other thrift stores now. All righty, you guys. So, my total spend there was $53. Could you believe it? I had 20% off cuz I acrewed so many points. So, I know that we can make it to the American Thrift in Halia, Miami, Dade County. I'm not sure if we can make it to Community Family Thrift, but in that same plaza, we could probably make it to the red, white, and blue. I have a knick-knack show, but it's pretty late tonight at 1000 p.m., so we're good. So, I'm going to stop at Canes across the street cuz they have the best sweet tea. So, I'm at Canes and they have like I'm in the drive-thru and they have like naked chicken tenders without breading. And I was inquiring to the guy taking my order outside. I was like, "Hey, um, do you know if your chicken the naked chicken tenders are fried in the same fryer?"
You know, because I they look fried. I don't know if they're fried in the same fryer as your breaded ones. He goes, "I don't know. How am I supposed to know that? I don't work in the kitchen.
I have allergies and that's why I asked him." And once I expressed to him that that's because I have allergies, he's like, "Uh, I have no idea." So, I'm about to grab my sweet tea, but I'm also about to speak with the manager.
>> Hey, is there a manager there?
>> Yeah, >> I just got a sweet tea, but I just want to talk to manager real quick.
>> Have a large sweet tea.
>> Thanks.
Um, they wanted to >> Hey, I just wanted to tell you um the the dude that took my order.
>> So, I asked him if the naked tenders were fried in the same fryer as the breaded tenders. And his response to me was, "How am I supposed to know that I don't work in the kitchen?" So, I have allergies. So, I'm glad that I, you know, I found out. But I think it's I want you to know, you know, that's inappropriate. I told him, I said, "Now, you know, and you don't have to answer somebody that way, >> right?" So, just so you know, >> I appreciate you letting me know. No problem. I'm definitely going to address that cuz that's that's not that's Yeah.
Anyway, thank you.
>> You're very welcome.
>> Bye.
>> Now, I could have just let that go, but the problem is too many of us let things like that go and um I just didn't find it appropriate. Anyway, detour. Instead of going to American Thrift Helia right now, not saying that we're not going, I'm going to stop at Antique Mall, y'all. That's what it's called. And it's only 5 minutes away. So, let's go there first. They're going to close in about 2 hours. So, I love that mall. I think you will, too. So, let's head on over there.
All right, guys. We're at Antique Mall, y'all. And there is a Goodwill right there. And it's a really bad one, but we will try it out after this if there's time. Still trying to make it to Halia.
Wait. Okay, there's But like there seems to be more here.
Is this is like Oh, is it another antique mall? Cool treasures.
There's two antique malls.
These are so popular right now. And that's a good price at 39.
>> 48 for that.
>> Whoa.
>> Yeah. I I think I've been here before. I just a long time ago, though.
Have a good one.
>> I like this is a good deal. Um, let's look at this one.
>> 50 90 >> $12 So beautiful.
>> 75 Ellie Smith. Solid brass.
>> 95.
>> Wow. Beautiful.
$7 for a pair of tanala fish, but they have chips.
>> 225.
Says asis, cuz it's broken. There.
Vintage coins, old photos.
I like that the music is not loud. It's playing, but it's not loud. Oh, it's a little pig for 11.
So cute.
Wow, it's I thought it was glass. Like that brand Zelik.
They do that kind of oil slick glass.
Yes. All the littles.
$5 for the shaker. He's cute. So far so good. I didn't buy anything yet, but I'm looking.
This is nice. 15. It's like iridescent and it has fish in it.
It's banged up.
Is banged up.
Wait a minute. Nope. That's just dirt.
I think we can do that for 15. Wow. Look at this lamp. Oh my goodness. This is something.
I love it. Wow. Beautiful little Fenton.
It's got a chip on the bottom. That's why it's 18. I got to leave this. It has a ding.
Yeah, it's pretty significant. Oh, I wish I can get this for resale. It's $25. It's a Polish pottery dog. Never seen one like that.
Check out this old Christmas.
The paper stuff can do pretty well. It's pretty damaged. That one 20 bucks.
Look at them >> 125. He's so cool.
>> Something right out of Harry Potter.
>> It's called Nosa. mostly stay, you know, the area.
>> All right. So, wow. That place was called Cool Treasures and Antiques and Collectibles. So, now we're going to go next door to Antique Mall, y'all.
Today's been a very adventurous day so far. Although, I didn't find anything there today. It's uh it's got definite potential.
So, right when you walk in here, you guys, beautiful stuff. Just instant beauty.
I usually find like artwork here. Lots and lots of art. Little mini paintings.
Like you see like this is not art. I mean it's not a mini painting but it's like only 12 bucks. It's really cool.
It's not real dried flowers or anything but it's still neat.
>> I love Judeica.
Yeah. I remember coming in here and liking this booth.
Oh, look.
They make you um put your your bag in a locker and then they give you a key, which I really never mind. I love that actually, so I don't have to walk around with my stuff.
Um, this is a lipstick holder, isn't it?
14. Look at the brass studs.
I'm kind of a bigger girl, so this is a little tricky for me. See, I got to lose weight so that I can maneuver through antique malls. $46 for Morirano Dolphin.
All sorts of I think Polish pottery maybe.
Wow.
I'm like, wow. It's been a while.
49. That's really nice mug.
Don't you love that they don't have any music? I love it.
It's really nice.
Was it a perfume bottle before?
Saying it's a vase. Oh, I mean it might be, but it's saying morirano, but I'm not sure that it's moriranno actually for 40.
42. I believe this is Matm Studio and that's a really good deal on that.
Look, we're getting this. Let me look that up.
That's Holland and they only want 22.
Yeah, it's Guda Holland, but it's only going for about 20 bucks and that is what it's priced at.
What in the mixed wood cat Paul Man 210?
Ain't that something?
Goodness, man.
75.
Oh my gosh.
This is fiance. Yeah, it's broken here 75.
I hope you guys don't mind me telling you the prices all the time. I think you probably I think a lot of you guys probably do like it because it'll help you get an idea of like if you come down here the prices and stuff. Oh, this is gorgeous.
like the stopper. 10 bucks.
Oh, I love that painting.
40. See, that's a good deal.
