Corporate misconduct, particularly financial mismanagement and embezzlement by leadership, can lead to the collapse of even seemingly successful retail businesses, as demonstrated by PharMor's CEO Mickey Monus who faced legal consequences for embezzlement, causing suppliers to stop deliveries and ultimately leading to the company's demise.

Revisited: Abandoned PharMor - Philadelphia, PAAdded:
[music] [music] [music] >> Shop the grand opening celebration at the Far More not far from you. Hi y'all, it's me Fuzz Bunny. Look at the front where it says Ames real big.
>> [music] >> Well, hi everyone. I'm out here in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and I'm at the Well, I don't know what it is now. It's Franklin Mills Mall, Philadelphia Mills Mall. It was Franklin Mall, Franklin Mills Mall, Philadelphia Mills.
And when I got here all the signage was missing uh from the entrance to the mall. The Simon mall insignias are all gone. Philadelphia Mills, that's all gone and the signs are covered up. So, I'm guessing Simon doesn't own this mall anymore and it's Franklin Mills Mall again.
I don't know.
But, I'm here today because I was right by the mall in my travels and I'm back here today at a store I filmed in 2018.
Far More.
This place has been closed since 2000 or 2001. Think 2000.
For those of you that don't know or you aren't old enough to remember, uh Far More was a big chain of super-sized pharmacy stores. Imagine a Rite Aid but like Kmart blended in with it.
That's what Far More was. They had super good deals on everything. Sometimes it was too good to be true how low their prices were. They had what was known as Far More power buying. That was a big thing that they would get to lure in customers to their stores, but they were losing money regardless.
And they closed uh because of issues with their CEO and the guy um got Monus, Mickey Monus was his name.
He got in trouble with the law for embezzlement.
Went to jail. He finally got out of jail like a handful of years ago and he seemed to be living his best life somehow. I don't get it, but yeah, he he started this company, ran it for years.
Well, I don't know if he started it, but he ran it for years.
And when he got in trouble for the embezzlement and stealing money and not paying uh the vendors that were bringing merchandise to the stores, he got in trouble, went to jail and all that and a lot of suppliers wouldn't even deliver goods to these stores anymore and that was really the start of the downfall for him. But, it blows my mind here in 2026 that there's still at least this one abandoned Far More standing. Never been used. Uh I mean, it looks like they might have had a different store in here at one point in time or at least a for sale sign or for lease sign over the front of the store where it would have said Far More and you can still see the label scar today. So, I want to hop out of the car, check it out and uh just see what we find. This is incredible that this is still here. So, come along with me. Let's go check it out and see what's changed in 8 years. So, uh by the way, if you never did see that video, I'll link that in the video description and you can check out my original Far More video from right here in October of 2018. So, let's go see what difference uh 8 years have made.
There you go. 8 years since my original video here and I'm sure you can see it on the screen here.
Right here in the center is where it would say Far More in the bold uppercase lettering.
That's amazing that nothing has ever gone in here.
I I I vaguely remember the fire extinguishers being in the windows, too.
And there were still some old signage in here, too.
This place is torn up though inside.
I see signage laying on the floor.
I know it's hard to see through these windows, so let's go over here where you get the money shot.
You still got the one sign here, 1-hour photo.
It dates all the way back to the Far More days.
Still a couple of counters in there.
Look at that sign there on the counter.
If you wanted to buy tobacco, you had to prove that you were I think it was 18 at the time.
You had to be born before whatever day in 1984.
That is something that that is still there.
And you know, we had one in Pittsburgh that my parents and I would frequent all the time.
It was in Ross Township and it was at McIntyre Square.
You may have seen videos I've done inside of its building known as Gabe's.
That was what took over when Far More closed.
I went there as a kid [clears throat] with my mom and dad, my grandparents.
You could rent videos there on VHS. You could buy all kinds of household household goodies.
You could get your prescriptions there, obviously. Like I said, imagine a Rite Aid or a CVS but on steroids.
That's kind of what Far More was.
Yeah, the fire extinguishers.
Go over here where there's not a lot of stuff blocking the view.
Yeah, I mean, it's not really recognizable in there anymore these days. As you can see, it's been completely torn out.
I think that's where the pharmacy would have been cuz a lot of the stores, the pharmacy was in the back corner. So, I know it's hard to see.
Camera's focusing more on the glare on the uh window. Yeah, I'm sorry about that. I tried. But, back there, at least in my location is where the pharmacy was.
That back right corner.
But, that blows my mind that this is still here. All the paint peeling off, the old light swinging in the wind. Uh it's hanging by the thread there, by the wires. Uh definitely don't recommend you walk under it in case those wires break and uh you get yourself a little bit of a headache.
My god, yeah, when I came here the first time, I think I still was driving the Sebring convertible.
If it wasn't that, it was the um the CRV.
Wow, I I'm just shocked that this is still abandoned after all this time.
Loading docks would have been back here.
We'll take a walk back here. It's a nice day.
It just blows my mind that in all of these years, nothing's moved in here ever that I know of.
Unless you know something I don't.
Getting back to my Far More in particular, too, the um one in Ross Township on the other side of Pennsylvania, I remember one time being in there.
I I think I was still in my single digit years.
A kid.
I distinctly remember being with my mom. She was going to pick up a prescription at the pharmacy and we bumped into one of the meteorologists who was working for KDKA at the time, the uh local CBS station in Pittsburgh.
Can't remember his name, but he was the meteorologist, the lead meteorologist at that time in the mid-90s.
And I just remember being starstruck as a kid seeing somebody who I'm like, "Oh my god, he's famous. Wow, I see you on the news." cuz we always watch CBS or KDKA news in Pittsburgh.
So, those are some of my memories and I do remember my dad often times renting movies from there.
They would be in clear cases with the cassette in there.
You could get like Lion King, Toy Story, I mean, maybe not Toy Story, but Jurassic Park, Back to the Future, all kinds of classic old movies that were not that old back then or if anything, brand new.
Like the seat to a looks like a Chevy Express van.
And then, you know, they would have the little sticker on there that would say, "Please be kind. Rewind."
So, you would rewind the cassette, return it to the store so the next customer could rent it.
That's how life was.
Simpler times back then, too.
No smartphones. Heck, this would have been a good place to use one of my old camcorders on because smartphones didn't exist back then.
Camcorders that used cassettes were the big thing. Now, that's a different business over there.
This is the back end of Wal- or Walmart, Farmor.
But, wow, I can't believe that's still abandoned since my original video.
Oh, I'll see you back up front.
Now that we're back towards the front of the store in the car, I want to thank you all for watching.
This has truly been a pleasure to be able to do this video here.
You know, finding an abandoned Farmor nowadays is about as difficult as finding an abandoned uh Ames, Montgomery Wards. Actually, I've had much better luck finding abandoned Ames.
See, Farmor was a big chain.
But, they weren't quite to the caliber that Ames was.
Actually, the one that I went to in Pittsburgh at Ross Township, McIntyre Square, directly across from it in that same plaza was a Kmart. That was my local Kmart, too, with the Shaler location and the West View ones.
And that became at home.
So, that's crazy. I I don't I don't ever recall seeing another abandoned Farmor anywhere even Montgomery Wards for that matter, and I've done a couple of them on this channel over the years, but uh for this to still be standing like this vacant after all this time at this mall, which is clearly struggling and has been for some time.
So much to the point it appears that Simon jumped ship on this one.
That is something else.
So, glad we uh were able to stop, check this out.
I'm glad I was able to put another video together here to see how it looks, and it just blows my mind that you can still read the score on the front of the store.
I mean, we're talking 26 years.
And the building, besides being torn up inside, I didn't see water ponding anywhere in there.
So, they take care of the place enough.
But, I guess just nobody was interested in moving in here. That just That's crazy to me, but what are you going to do? There are a lot of malls out here in western PA and throughout Jersey. So, you know, I guess nobody ever saw this as enough of a risk to put a business there.
Especially since this is on the back side of the mall, and it's all woods behind it. So, if they did, unless you go around to the back of the mall, you wouldn't see this. You wouldn't know this was here.
Or, you know, they would they would have to put up some pretty good signage to catch your eye uh to get you here. So, that could possibly be one of the reasons why nothing's ever moved in.
So, I was in this mall in 2018, and it wasn't that bad back then.
But, yeah, that was the only time I was ever in it. I was in the mall with my friends Heather and Pat. Hi, Heather.
Hi, Pat. And um I know we keep meaning to get together one of these days since we're now practically neighbors. So, um But, yeah, that that was cool. That was a trip down memory lane. So, I hope you enjoyed this revisit. Hope you enjoyed the corny commercial I put at the beginning of this video, and I'll put another corny commercial at the end of this video because that's what Farmor was known for, too. They would get these cheesy ads to draw your attention, and uh so you could go to their stores and spend money, and then the CEO could put it right in his pocket and uh go golfing, buy yachts, and expensive cars, and then go to the slammer for being a terrible CEO.
>> [laughter] >> Uh just plugging my charger in. But, anyway, thanks so much for watching. I appreciate appreciate you all. Till we can meet again, everybody. Take care and stay awesome. I will see you next time.
Bye-bye.
Farmor presents a new Christmas Carol.
Mr. Scrooge.
>> It's late, AND I STILL NEED a toy for Tiny Tim.
>> Well, uh how about one of those and a pack of new Energizers?
>> Energizers? Batteries completely slipped my mind. I am new at gift giving. Now, you can get Energizer double A batteries [music] or Energizer C or D batteries, all at Farmor's power buying low prices.
And they run like the dickens. New Energizers, now at Farmor.
