[00:00:31]Today we have another famous fable from Asop. It is called The Boy Who Cried Wolf. It is a story about a boy, some sheep, and one very big lie.

[00:00:46]Okay, let's begin the story. Once upon a time in a small village, there lived a young shepherd boy. A shepherd is a person who takes care of sheep. Every day the boy took his sheep up the green hill. He watched them eat the grass and he kept them safe. But there was one problem.

[00:01:12]The boy was bored.

[00:01:15]Sitting on the hill all day was not fun for him. There is nothing to do here. He said to himself, I want some excitement.

[00:01:24]Now the people of the village had told the boy something important. They said, if you ever see a wolf near the sheep, shout for help. Cry, "Wolf! Wolf!" and we will come running to help you. A wolf is a wild animal like a big dog. A wolf can be very dangerous to sheep.

[00:01:48]So, one day the bored boy had a bad idea. He thought it would be funny to trick the villagers. He took a deep breath and he shouted as loud as he could, "Wolf! Wolf! A wolf is chasing the sheep! Help! Help!" The villagers heard him. They dropped their work and ran up the hill as fast as they could.

[00:02:13]They came to save the boy and his sheep.

[00:02:18]But when they got to the top, there was no wolf.

[00:02:23]There was only the boy laughing and laughing.

[00:02:29]laughed the boy. There is no wolf. I was just joking. You should see your faces.

[00:02:37]The villagers were not happy. Do not lie to us, boy, they said. Do not cry wolf when there is no wolf.

[00:02:46]and they walked back down the hill tired and angry. But the boy thought his trick was very funny. So a few days later he did it again. "Wolf! Wolf!" he shouted.

[00:03:00]"Help! A wolf is here!" And again, the kind villagers ran up the hill to help him. And again, there was no wolf, only the boy laughing at them. Now the villagers were very very angry.

[00:03:20]"You are a liar," they said. "We will not believe you again." And they went back down the hill.

[00:03:29]But then a few days later, something happened.

[00:03:35]The boy was sitting on the hill with his sheep and suddenly he saw it.

[00:03:42]A real wolf, a big hungry wolf coming toward the sheep.

[00:03:51]The boy was terrified.

[00:03:53]He jumped up and shouted with all his voice, "Wolf! Wolf! This time it is real! Please help me! Help!"

[00:04:06]Down in the village, the people heard him shouting, but this time they did not move.

[00:04:13]Ha! They said, "That boy is lying again.

[00:04:17]He is just playing his silly trick. We will not run up that hill for nothing."

[00:04:24]So, nobody came.

[00:04:27]The boy shouted and shouted, but no one came to help. and the hungry wolf chased the sheep away into the forest.

[00:04:42]That evening, the boy walked slowly back to the village, alone and sad.

[00:04:50]An old man met him on the road. The boy told him what had happened.

[00:04:56]The old man put his hand on the boy's shoulder and said gently, "Nobody believes a liar.

[00:05:04]even when he is telling the truth.

[00:05:14]Now, let's learn some words from the story. Say them with me if you can.

[00:05:20]Number one, shepherd.

[00:05:23]A shepherd is a person who takes care of sheep. Our boy was a shepherd.

[00:05:30]Number two, board.

[00:05:33]Bored means having nothing fun to do.

[00:05:37]The boy was bored on the hill. Number three, to trick.

[00:05:44]To trick means to fool someone or make them believe something that is not true.

[00:05:51]The boy wanted to trick the villagers.

[00:05:56]Number four, a lie.

[00:06:00]A lie is something you say that is not true. The boy told a lie.

[00:06:07]And number five, the truth.

[00:06:12]The truth is the opposite of a lie. It is what is real. In the end, nobody believed the truth.

[00:06:21]Great job. Five new words for your English.

[00:06:29]So what does this story teach us?

[00:06:33]The lesson is simple but very important.

[00:06:36]Always tell the truth. When you lie again and again, people stop believing you. And then when you really need help, nobody comes. Trust is like glass. It is easy to break and very hard to fix. So be honest with the people around you.

[00:06:58]When you tell the truth, people can trust you and trust is a wonderful thing to have.
