Rapamycin, originally isolated from bacteria as a defense mechanism against fungi, has been discovered to extend lifespan in laboratory animals by reducing cancer rates; however, because human growth and recovery share overlapping metabolic pathways, rapamycin may impede exercise recovery by interfering with the growth signals necessary for muscle repair and adaptation.

What is rapamycin? How it works for anti-aging?Added:
Rapamycin is a drug originally isolated from bacteria. It was developed by bacteria against fungi to prevent the fungi from growing and to give the bacteria a growth edge. Not a bad tool at all. These two groups, bacteria and fungi, have been fighting against one another for who knows how long. Fungi developed antibiotics and alcohol against bacteria. Bacteria developed rapamycin. So we humans, we utilized this war. We took the antibiotics. We consumed the alcohol and now we test rapamycin. And rapamycin increases consistently lifespan of lab animals, lab mice. But how? By reducing cancer rate. You see 80% of these lab mice, they die from cancer. So reducing growth, especially if they take it throughout their entire life, makes sense it's going to extend their lifespan. A growth disease. But here we are dealing with humans. The human body growth and recovery have an overlapping metabolic behavior. For proper recovery, we need a clear growth signal. When you apply that in combination with exercise, rapamycin is likely to impede the growth potential, the recovery from exercise.
So is that surprising that rapamycin hurts the benefits from exercise? No. So what is rapamycin and how does it work?
