What's the value of being human?

But one of the things that I learned is a lot of people think there's nothing so great about humans and there's no reason to preserve them. But the real question is like, what can you say to that? How do you convince people of the importance of being human? The importance of being human is going to inhere necessarily in the value to us as humans of having human experiences.

[00:00:24]That's going to be the value. It's not all the good we're doing for other species that are co-evolved alongside us. We can't be here just for that purpose. Our purpose has got to inhere in some way in the value of our humanness, our aliveness, and our capacity for experience.
