The incident highlights the systemic failure of automated moderation to distinguish between educational nuance and policy violations. It serves as a sobering reminder of the fragile digital sovereignty creators hold within centralized platforms.

YouTube Gave Me a Strike…I’m Banned for 7 DaysAdded:
All right, y'all.
Just dropped my kids off to school and um I thought what better time to explain where has Summer been. Um so, as I I just don't understand how people think they can just jaywalk across the road and not see cars coming. If you not in a crosswalk, why you walking?
Yeah, y'all can already tell I'm on one this morning simply because of where I've been. So, let's jump right into it and talk about why Summer hasn't been on YouTube. If you follow me on Instagram, you already know. That's why I keep telling y'all, make sure y'all go follow me on Instagram because some of the stuff that you might not see on YouTube, you will definitely see on Instagram.
So, make sure y'all go follow me on Instagram. Make sure y'all follow me on Facebook. You're going to be up to speed with where summer is like 90% of the time versus, you know, trying to follow me on YouTube. YouTube is great um for its purposes and reasonings and you know it has it has it its moments but if you really want to tap into summer go follow me on Instagram you'll you'll find out what's going on. So, this is the week of May the 4th and last Thursday I woke up to an email from YouTube um saying that I had a strike. And so, I'll just put it right here verbatim what it said and y'all can just take a look, press pause on the video, take a look, read it for yourself. Um, and it was on the video about me reviewing the Sig P211. So, you know, I'm very cautious about doing content related to firearms. I've read the policies. I'm up to speed on everything I can and can't do on this platform due to it being firearms. Um, and I get some of it, but a lot of it, it just don't make sense to me. Um, especially if you have content creators like myself who are doing the right thing. We're not out here trying to promote the sale of firearms, trying to get y'all viewers persuaded enough to do something like that's not my reasoning. My reasoning first and foremost is to share my journey. That's it. A lot of people don't think they can own firearms, don't think they can have firearms. They think they're illegal. You know, just trying to push the the positive narrative of firearms on my channel. That's that's all I'm trying to do. I'm not trying to do anything malicious, anything wrong, anything illegal. I never have, never want to. That's that's not my that's not my mood. That's not my drive. My drive is educate you guys on your firearm rights, the firearms that are out here.
And it ultimately at the end of the day, it's up to you to do your research on what you can and can't do, what you can and can't have, what you can and can't do in your state. All states are different. And I'm just coming from a place of my own journey, sharing my journey like everybody else does on YouTube, on social media with whatever niche they're in. With that said, I posted a a video on YouTube last I want to say a a couple a week or two ago. It was a video reviewing and unboxing the Sig P211. Y'all know for those of you who watched it because it's not up anymore. They took it down. For those of you who were watching in that video, I'm in my office talking about the P211.
I am showing you guys the gun. There's no ammo anywhere in sight. I did an like a overview of the gun, showing you guys all the aspects, all the specifications of the firearm. Then I go back to my desk and I finish talking about the gun.
YouTube said that I violated the community guidelines policy of facilitating the use or sale of illegal some talking about illegal or regulated goods. And like I said, I put it on the screen for y'all to go back and take a look at it at your own leisure. Um, and then they even gave me a time stamp. They told me at the 17 minute and 30 second mark, this is where you violate the guidelines. When I went back and looked at the the video at the 1730 mark, I'm literally talking about the difference between the grip safety on the Sig P211 and the grip safety on other 2011s and how I like the grip safety on the P211 versus others. I'm continuing on talking about that.
I don't understand where I violated a guideline. So, I appealed it and they still gave me the strike. They they said, "We reviewed it for a second time and you still are violating the guidelines." I have no clue. No clue.
And it's very hard. If anybody knows like how do you get up with YouTube people? I've tried. I've went on Twitter or X was talking to them there. Nothing.
I mean, I got a reply, but it's it wasn't it's almost like they knew they were wrong because I said I went back and looked at the time stamp and I'm not violating the guidelines and so they pretty much ghosted me. So, if anybody knows how I can get in touch with them, um, let me know because one, I still have the strike, two, the video has been taken down and that video was getting some traction. Um, three, they're probably still getting the ad revenue from that video, which kind of like ticks me off a little bit because you're not gonna give me a strike and then take my video down and then you still getting some some revenue generated. Like, make it make sense. I can see if I was in violation and and I very well could still be in violation. However, I need someone to explain to me how I was in violation, especially when I went to the timestamp where they said the violation was.
And there I'm not selling anything. I'm not using anything illegal. That was a 9 mm pistol that operates semi-automatic.
I didn't even shoot the gun in the video. Granted, I did have the very first time that I shot the P211, I had it playing in the background on my monitor, but in the video, I never shot the gun.
So, I'm not I it's it's not making sense to me. Um, that's why I continue to tell y'all. And before before y'all jump in the comments saying that's why you need to go to Rumble, I'm on Rumble. And if you're new to the channel, I'm on Rumble. So, make sure y'all go follow me on Rumble because every video that I post on YouTube, I post on Rumble.
Rumble ain't never gave me an issue. I got a warning one time from YouTube about me going to the different gun stores. I can I can kind of see that. I can kind of see it, but I can't I can't because if we're talking about showing guns at different stores, then what's the difference between doing that at the store versus doing it at Shot Show?
Granted, I guess there's prices at the store, but I'm I'm showing an array of guns at the store just like they do at Shot Show, just like any other person does when they go to a gun show and they show an array of guns with prices on them. I got a warning for doing that.
So, that's why I had to stop posting it on YouTube and I continue to post it on Rumble. I was very upset about it um last week because they put me on a week strike.
So, I I got the strike. I got my one strike.
So, you know, three strikes are out. I got my one strike and they told me I couldn't post for seven days. So, today is the day that I'm able to post again as you're watching this video. And it it's really not making sense to me. I did nothing wrong. I can see I'mma own my stuff. Anytime I do something wrong, I'mma own it. In this case, I ain't do nothing wrong and I got penalized for it. I couldn't show y'all content for a week. I got my video pulled. I I don't know. It don't make sense. And it what the other part that don't make sense is you can get on this platform and post and and generate revenue for YouTube, but then the moment you do something wrong, you can't get up with nobody.
or the moment that they they think you did something wrong and you try to appeal it, you try to plead your case and you try to tell them no, no, no, you can't get up with nobody. That that that is one thing that pisses me off is people, they want to use you and use your content, use your your platform, use your followers and all that for their gain. And they'll push you, push you, push you as long as they're gaining. And then the moment that you gotta question something about what you're doing or what they think you did wrong, they they ghost. They ain't nowhere to be found. I don't know. Um [clears throat] I do have it. You know, a lot of people say, "Well, that's why a lot of gun tubers preference their videos with this video is for educational purposes only. I'm not here to sell firearms. I'm here to educate the people. I'm in a safe and controlled environment." You know, a lot of people, a lot of gun tubers preference their videos with that. I have it in my description that I am not here to sell firearms. All my content is for educational purposes only. It's in all the descriptions of my videos. If YouTube don't want to read that, then that's their problem. I just refuse to say that in every video because it's understood if you watch it. And I what I don't like is YouTube has their automated reviews.
They have their their bots. Some of the things they have are bot generated and they don't have a human form to sit there and review and all that. And I get it. You got millions of people on YouTube. So, it's it's pretty difficult to try to get every human in front of these millions of creators. However, when you got a something like a an appeal, a strike, a warning, a human needs to be there to evaluate that. not no bot generated nothing.
A human needs to be there to reveal that. And I could be wrong, but from the email I got, no, I I don't think a human took a look at it. And that's like that's the downfall.
Somebody needs to come up with a platform that allows us to be free and our Second Amendment right. And especially if we're educators on this firearm topic, there should be no reason why anybody would think that we're doing anything illegal when we're trying to do everything right. Go after the people that are are doing it wrong.
I've seen so many people doing illegal stuff with firearms on YouTube and they still on YouTube.
How?
And I don't care. I mean, it it it's not my place to call out these people. I I'm focusing on summer. I don't care about nobody else. What everybody else that that's focusing on firearms and gun tubers, whatever they doing, that's what they doing. I It ain't got nothing to do with summer. If they want to get up there and do illegal stuff, if they want to get up there and do it the way that they're doing it, that's their problem.
That's their channel. What summer got to do with it? Nothing. I'm focusing on summer shoots. So, however, they're still being able to stay on YouTube is beyond me because little old Summer over here is just trying to give y'all the the content, the reviews of what my experience is, but I'm getting a strike for something I didn't do.
So, I felt like I had to So, I came on here to let you guys know what it is and what it really ain't cuz I'm I'm just not that type of person. I follow the rules. I I try to follow the rules. I don't try to deviate from anything. And I read the policies. I've been trying to follow it and I still got a strike. So, all in all, I wanted to say we are back posting content. If you've been on Rumble, you've already seen the videos or whatever been posted.
But if you haven't been on Rumble, then I will start back up the schedule as of this week posting and getting y'all caught up to the content I already posted on Rumble. So, make sure y'all follow me on Rumble. And again, if anybody out there knows how I can um get in contact with YouTube or get that video put back up because there was nothing wrong with the video, then y'all let me know. Put it down in the comment section who I should contact, email, phone number, something because I just I don't see a wrong. And if I am wrong, if I said something wrong in the video, I'm going to own it. I'll be like, "Oh, okay. I Okay, great. I can see how that violates the guidelines. Or I'd be like, "No, you're still wrong. I did not violate the guidelines." Like, I I just need to know from a YouTube worker employee representative, where did Summer go wrong in this video?
And then if I'm wrong, I'm wrong. Let's keep the video down. I got my strike. If I'm not wrong, put my video back up.
give me my ad revenue because I know y'all got y'alls and let's just move on from there and understand that this channel is not about that. I don't do anything illegal. That's not my cup of tea. So, [clears throat] as I drive this morning, just want to let y'all know where we were and we are back. Hopefully for good. Hopefully I don't get another strike.
And I can't push it enough. Go to Rumble. Follow me on Rumble. I post every video there. There's never been an issue with Rumble. I do know that someone said um it's hard for Rumble to notify them when I post. I'm still looking into that to see what the issue is, but just follow me on Rumble. All videos are posted there. If you want to keep up with me, everything is posted there. So, make sure y'all subscribe to the channel and go subscribe to Rumble and go follow me on Instagram if you want to keep up with summer shoots. I just want to say I didn't ghost y'all. I I'm not that type of person. Like, I'm a very consistent person. I I don't like if I put my mind to something, I'm going to stay with it.
I don't, you know, start something for a week and be like, uh, I'm not inconsistent is what I'm trying to say.
I'm very consistent, very dedicated, very loyal. That's me. And I didn't want y'all to feel like, well, dang, where's summer at? And I understand, you know, it's work. There's a lot of work that has to go into this channel. And I understand that like some people have to take breaks. And I don't really take breaks. You know, I keep my mental health very strong. I work on myself. Um I I don't I haven't gotten to a place, this is two years with this channel. Uh this month is two years, the month of May. Um I've never gotten to a point where I needed a mental break from this cuz I don't feel like it's work. I feel like it is completely passion and and heart. I love doing this. So I didn't ghost y'all. I'm still here. It's just that YouTube be tripping. I said that from the beginning. YouTube be tripping.
YouTube be on some other stuff. And I'm not with that. Especially when I'm doing what's right. So enough of my rambling.
enough of me venting to y'all. Thank y'all for being here to to vent. Um I I just had to get that off cuz I've been waiting to do this video for like a week now so that I can post it and let y'all know where I've been. But I appreciate y'all for supporting the channel, for supporting Summer Shoots. For those of y'all who have become a member, thank you so much. For those of you who keep purchasing merch, like y'all keep going crazy on the merch. Every time I wake up in the morning, I got a new notification. Merch, merch, merch. Thank y'all again for just the loyalty, the support, the dedication to support somebody most of y'all have never met.
And that that just says a lot. So, I appreciate each and every one of you. And I just I just hope like the the support that you give me is given back to you. I just hope that whatever you do is reciprocated 100 times over because you don't have to do what you do. People don't have to do what they do. And when you do do it, it definitely says it's out of love and out of support and out of care. Like it's y'all don't have to do what y'all do. So, I appreciate y'all. And we we back to the content.
So, make sure y'all turn your notifications on and make sure y'all know when summer is posting so that y'all can get in the comment section [music] like y'all always do and engage and comment and tell me what you like and what you don't like. So, I'll see y'all on the next one. Until next time, stay armed, stay safe, and stay vigilant. Peace. Heat. Heat. [music] [music]
