[00:00:01]Hello folks. This is the activity for the uh lab one uh of the morning session and you're asked to create this part first and then uh you these units are inches etc and then later on apply material to it and then assume that the inside of the hole is clamped that inside surface is clamped and a pressure of 100 PSI is applied to the top flat face this flat face. Now you're also asked to use local mesh refinement around the hole, but that that's not the issue right now.

[00:00:40]You are expected to use any planes of symmetry if they're present if at all.

[00:00:47]In other word in this particular problem, if you apply pressure like that and geometry is like that and the the cons the restraint is given as indicated here, is there a plane of symmetry? And the answer is yes. In other words, all you need to do is half of this, half of it to the right, half of it to the left, and you have to model only half of it.

[00:01:13]So for me, I'm going to make that model exactly like it is without making sim taking symmetry into account. But then once I'm done, I'm going to come and cut it with the appropriate planes so that uh so that you get half of that moth.

[00:13:10]Okay. So remember inside of this uh circle this hole inside of that hole is clamped that we're told this is a surface slider. This is a roller. This is a plane of symmetry. So surface slider right there on that face. You say okay and there's a pressure of 100 PSI on that face. Please do not divide 100 by two. This is not a force, it's a pressure. So you go pressure on that face because it's pushing into it is 100.

[00:15:40]All right. Good. If you want to look now we're not we are not checking the accuracy. I mean the biggest for this is 1,200 PSI uh for steel is nothing. The yield strength of steel is uh 30,000 PSI. This is 30 times almost 30 times smaller. Now if you want to look at the deflection click on this displacement and if you want to change the rendering you can do it from here you can do it from there. Double click on that and average ISO. There we are. If you want to see the elements as I said uh I don't know I didn't tell you what I did in the lecture. So click on this uh rendering the very last one question mark. Make sure this is checked and then you say okay. So that is pretty much it.
