Successful businesses should prioritize community relationships and give back to the communities that support them, as demonstrated by Nick's Hamburgers owner Jeremy Haynes, who emphasizes that 'community is everything' and that the restaurant's success is due to community support, with the business serving as a platform for helping people's lives change through employment and community engagement.

[music] [music] [music] [music] >> Uh, the people, >> [music] >> the atmosphere and vibe, and the menu stays the same.
All we did was we just built a better space for [music] us to more comfortably enjoy what we do.
Um, we don't want to change who we are.
That's [music] what got us where we're at. We just built a cooler spot to do it in.
>> [music] >> Uh, some of the enhancements that we'll have with the new location are uh, we have better seating. We have uh, seating uh, that can be for somebody [music] who wants to sit alone, uh, or two people, three, or four, or uh, you know, pack this place out where everybody has to sit together again.
Uh, we have an outdoor space now, uh, that we've made some videos about that [music] um, we have climate controlled. As you can see the beautiful garage doors that a local company, Winston-Salem Garage Doors, installed for us.
Uh, we didn't want to lose the outdoor area half the year, so we [music] bring outdoor seating in and uh we got some cool features like uh we've got USB ports and plugins at uh most of the seating, so you will we see a lot of people coming in with their laptops and >> [music] >> uh want to do some work at Nick's. We you got that option to charge your devices now. We try to bring a little bit of technology without taking too much of the old school.
>> seating, uh you know, we've always in our minds thought of Nick's [music] as uh a diner style uh place and so there are going to be a few additions at the new place. Um we are going to bring in cakes [music] and pies because we plan on having some good diner coffee. Uh nothing like what you would get at our favorite coffee place, Kaiser Country Mercantile, uh but [music] it we will have some diner coffee uh to go with that counter seating. We've got some booth seating along the wall, which is a long community bench style uh that you can bring tables together [music] to make room for larger parties or keep them separate for two and four tops if you need. And then we got some uh right here at the front corner, we have uh some counter seating where [music] you can kind of just sit by yourself at the counter and look out the window and uh or just [music] mess on your laptop or whatever.
That whole back bar is basically [music] our home.
Uh there's no none of it is going to make us any money and none of it is uh uh going to be for the customers, but it's for us and our families [music] to enjoy the space. We spend a lot of time up here. We really are tight-knit. Uh you know, a lot of places say we're like family, but we really are up here and uh I needed a space for [music] our families to be able to come enjoy dinner and enjoy times and memories. Uh I needed an office so that everything that we're [music] doing and the growth that we're trying to achieve here uh to make everybody's commitment worth it. [music] Uh but about 75% of it is just for us to operate comfortably and better for y'all and >> [music] >> we're going to spend a lot of time up here over the next 20-30 years, so.
>> [music] >> Oh, man, community is everything.
The people will always >> [music] >> be my favorite part, man. Uh people are so cool and [music] so beautiful in so many ways and uh you know, collectively we're so powerful. [music] Anytime a large amount of people come together for one thing. I mean, look what one little community did [music] with a burger place. I mean, what the the success we have seen and >> [music] >> where the restaurant is going is something we couldn't imagine, but it also couldn't have been done without the community.
>> [music] >> And I'm a firm believer of if you are depleting a resource, [music] you should always replenish it in some way. And that could be used in all aspects [music] of life, in my personal opinion. And you know, this community gives a lot [music] to us and I think it's our duty to serve them and give back to them for for doing so.
>> [music] >> More than a burger is uh the conversations that we have at the tables, uh the people's lives [music] that we are able to help because of all the burgers that we sell, the employees that work with us and the people that come to us as jobs here. [music] Uh to watch their lives change. Like, there's just the volume of the the revenue that we're doing [music] allows there to be a surplus to help uh lacking areas of the community, uh bring attention [music] to this area that maybe brings more funds in.
Uh there's just way more going on [music] here than just selling burgers.
Uh It's It's a personal thing that I have with my relationship with God. You know, when he gives you a lot, he requires a lot, and I think it's our It's our job when we get in a position like this [music] to to set a good example of what a business owner should be in the community.
>> [music] >> We're hoping to open and plan it for sometime in July.
It will not be open before then, though.
So, this is just There's a lot of finishing touches stuff. It may look that we're really close on the outside, and we are really close in the grand scheme of things, but we still got a few more months to do this the right way, the way we want to.
[music] When you dance, I'm in the You make me You make me move.
You got it >> [music] >> all inside of you.
Feel it to >> [music] >> be true.
And when you dance, I'm in the groove.
You make me move.
You [music] make me move.
