Premium product pricing requires authentic brand identity, quality craftsmanship, and genuine value proposition; brands that use generic messaging, poor design, and lack of polish undermine their premium positioning regardless of founder's personal following.

Is dave portnoys new watch brand a joke? The branding,... #Shorts #shwinnabegoHinzugefügt:
Okay, so the Barstool Sports Guy launched a watch brand selling watches for $2,400 apiece. Let's take a look at what's going on here. First, the company is called Brick Watch Company. Brick is historically a negative or derogatory term for a consumer goods that no longer work. So, off to a good start. Second, this thing looks at most like a couple hundred bucks made. And I am no watch snob. This script here always earned feels very cheap. The whole kind of aesthetic and look and finishes do not feel polished. This is their Instagram feed so far is giving me big drop-shipped vibes. This logo is so phoned in. Seems like they hired someone on Fiverr to make it. I was trying to figure out on what was going on with the brick and I had to zoom in up there to see that the eye is a little brick. At small sizes, that does not work. It just looks like a mistake. The product page I just see the watch and the price tag $2,400. Says built in the United States with Swiss and imported parts where necessary. Where else are they importing these parts from? This is the kind of copywriting and messaging that feels very generic. Like, it's quality tested.
We've raised our standards. You can, too. I don't know. I want to know a lot more for $2,400. Stainless steel is certainly the most conventional watchmaking materials. This sounds like Dave Portnoy wrote it. Contrast this to this Longines watch. God, I don't know if that's how you say that. But this thing's like 2,300 bucks. Cool art direction. The detail here is so good.
Engravings, interesting back, self-winding mechanical movement beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour. Yeah, I have no idea what that means, but that's what I want for 2,300 bucks. Not this kind of generic throwaway language. The site and brand as a whole feels very phoned in. Probably on the rationale that Dave Portnoy says, I have a very loyal following. They're going to buy my product. But I suspect that your audience that could buy this type of product is going to go for a well-known, established, quality watch brand. Unless this product is just for like rich eighth graders. Which honestly might be.
There's a very small chance that this is actually a good quality watch. But nothing about the brand or the imagery speaks to that.
