[00:00:07]So, I wanted to give you guys um some tips. I know we all struggle with patience. All of us. Patience.

[00:00:17]We want to be active in our patience and choosing to be patient. So, here are some tips that can help us develop more patience because I know that's usually the question. Well, you did this entire talk about patience.

[00:00:33]How do we acquire patience? How do we gain patience?

[00:00:38]Number one is that you have to shift your mindset from seeing challenges as a result of what is happening to you to what is happening for you.

[00:00:56]Seeing things that are happening for you not as happening to you. That's a mind shift. You have to shift your mind. So when you're experiencing challenges, you look at as this is something that is happening for me, not something that is happening to me. When you say this is happening to me, that's a victim mindset and it doesn't allow you to navigate your way through what you are experiencing in a healthy way.

[00:01:23]There are some people who resent God because they believe that God dealt them an unfair hand.

[00:01:32]I'm not talking about people outside of the Muslim community. I'm talking about within the Muslim community. This is the real talk that we never really get to because we're constantly throwing information out there. But when we scale it back a little bit and begin to slow it down and still and begin to, you know, identify some of the root problems in a lot of our lives. We'll see that a lot of times you have people who resent God. They may not say it because obviously saying it is is something that will remove you from the fold of Islam um and put you at odds with Allah subhana wa tala. But deep down inside we harbor feelings towards God like he's doing me wrong. I didn't deserve this.

[00:02:13]And that's a lot of times because of how you're looking at the situation in front of you. You're looking at this as something that is happening to you instead of happening for you. Every trial, every misfortune, every calamity, every adversity that we experience, there is something greater for you on the other side of it.

[00:02:33]The fact that Allah subhana wa ta'ala only tests you with what you can handle according to your faith shows you that the tests are not just to make your life un you know unnecessarily complicated.

[00:02:48]There's a greater goal behind the tests and the trials and tribulations that Allah gives us. And you have to shift your mind in order for you to be able to see it in that in that fashion. If you're constantly looking at things that are happening to you as something that you didn't deserve or something that you didn't necessarily have the time to prepare for, then you're always going to see yourself as a victim.

[00:03:12]Victim mindset is very dangerous because as long as you see yourself as a victim, you see a problem with everybody else.

[00:03:20]The problem is never you, never your thinking. It's always somebody else.

[00:03:24]It's God, it's your spouse, your children, society, the white man, this person, that person. You always find an excuse because you have a victim mindset.

[00:03:36]Take being a victim off of the table and look at everything that you experience as something that is happening for you.

[00:03:43]Whether you see the wisdom in it immediately or you don't. At the end of Prophet Ysef's story, you if you follow his story from the beginning all the way up until right before he exit exited the prison and his name was cleared and you know the king put him, you know, as in charge of the wealth of Egypt and his life began to take a different turn. All the way up until that point, you would look at this as a sad story.

[00:04:12]His brothers were envious of him. He saw in a dream the 11 stars, the sun and the moon prostrating to him. He goes to his father. His father doesn't even tell him what the dream means. That's where it starts. It's like, why wouldn't he just tell him what the dream meant? Because not all information is good information.

[00:04:31]Sometimes you get information at a particular time in your life where you are not ready for that information and it destroys you and you have to deal with the eb and flow of life and allow things to manifest in their proper time. All the way at the end when Yakob and his wife they finally arrive in Egypt and they prostrate before Ysef, Ysef says, He said, "Oh my father, this is the interpretation of the dream that I saw 40some years ago." He now figured it out on his own. When children figure out things, this is one of the things that builds resilience and agency in children. Stop doing things for them.

[00:05:19]Let them figure it out.

[00:05:22]Your job as a parent is to put the railings there to make sure they don't go too far to the right, too far to the left. But you got to figure your stuff out, man. Especially teenagers.

[00:05:32]Figure it out. You're smart. You have the tools. And that's another, you know, point that we're going to come to. But the first thing is to shift your mind from being a victim and seeing things happening to you and see things happening for you. Guys, follow me. Does that is that practical? Is that something that you can go home tonight and start doing? Absolutely.

[00:05:54]Is there anybody that has, you know, before I even said this, started shifting their mindset in their life from seeing things happening to them to happening for them?

[00:06:05]Some of you, maybe this is the first time you're hearing this, whether it's the first time or not, it's something practical. I'm leaving you with practical tools. It's not a just a didactic lecture that you come and you sit for 45 minutes and listen to and then leave with no tools, no nothing. I am a firm believer of being solutionoriented, not problem oriented. As I tell my children, I told one of the brothers, we talked earlier, don't come to me with a problem without coming to me with the solution.

[00:06:37]>> Because if you come with the problem without the solution, that means that you put more energy, you invested more energy into the problem than you did the solution. That means you're problem oriented, not solutionoriented.

[00:06:49]That's what we call hustling backwards.

[00:06:53]>> We want to be solutionoriented. We all know what the problem is.

[00:06:58]Sit down and figure it out. Number two from the things that will help us um create patience in our lives is to stay consistent.

[00:07:10]Stay consistent even when you don't see the results. That's like a person who goes to the gym, right? When you go to the gym, you start working out, you're looking at yourself in the mirror every day, you don't see the changes. People around you see it. You walk past someone, they like, "Oh man, your arms get I see you." You're like, "Nah, man."

[00:07:29]You know, I'm still remain consistent.

[00:07:32]Even when you don't see the results because consistency builds discipline and even if you don't see result, the greatest result that you can get from consistency is discipline.

[00:07:48]We are living in a time where people want to see immediate results.

[00:07:54]>> In relationships, you have people who go into marriages and they want immediate results.

[00:08:00]Love takes time to develop. That's not something that's going to happen. Like, stop marrying people and then within the first 3 weeks or month of your marriage, you're saying I love you. No, hold that.

[00:08:12]Don't don't expose that yet because now is not the time.

[00:08:17]You might want to move to another level of intimacy in your relationship, but you're not there yet.

[00:08:24]Let that happen naturally.

[00:08:27]We are using love. This is why love don't carry any weight in today's time.

[00:08:31]Love has no weight.

[00:08:34]Evidenced by the fact that the people who use it the most have less receipts to prove it.

[00:08:43]Touch your nerve with that one, huh?

[00:08:48]Love is not an emotion.

[00:08:52]It's an action. It's a verb. Love has receipts.

[00:08:58]Even when you tell Allah you love him, you got to prove.

[00:09:04]Allah subhana wa ta'ala tested Prophet Ibraim. Want to see you really love me?

[00:09:08]Slaughter your son. Show me.

[00:09:12]Take the most beloved creature to you, which is your child. Put a knife to his neck and slaughter him. Prove to me you love me.

[00:09:23]God wants receipts, not lip service.

[00:09:29]And the same thing works in our own personal relationships.

[00:09:33]Sometimes a person can already come to the conclusion that you love them even though you never even uttered the words.

[00:09:40]They can look at your track record. Look at the receipts. No, I haven't said it, but look at everything that I've done.

[00:09:48]That's love. Me going to the grocery store, buying you something even though you didn't ask because I saw it and it reminded me of you when I brought it home and gave it to you. That's me saying I love you even though I never uttered the words.

[00:10:02]me taking your car, getting it clean.

[00:10:05]For the men, we take your car. Our wives, we take your car, we go get it clean, we get an oil change, we get a nice fresh air freshener, and we bring it back to you with a full take.

[00:10:18]That's your husband telling you, "I love you." Even though he never uttered the words, he never uttered the words, "Love has receipts."

[00:10:30]So the point that I'm making is that we want instant results.

[00:10:36]Patience requires consistency. That's what perseverance is. Consistency because it builds discipline.

[00:10:45]Even though as I mentioned earlier, patience is one of those qualities that is better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

[00:10:55]So build your patience through discipline, through consistency, because there will come a time when you're going to need it. Number three, self-compassion.

[00:11:06]This process takes time, meaning developing patience and being more patient. It is a process.

[00:11:15]Have mercy on yourself. Have compassion with yourself. Even when you find yourself out of pocket in a moment where you're you had a lapse of judgment and you were hasty or you missed the mark from being patient in this moment, don't beat yourself up. We're still learning.

[00:11:32]I'm still learning this thing about patience. Have compassion with yourself.

[00:11:39]It allows you to accept this responsibility that comes with being patient. It's a process. And the more you work at it, the more you develop it, inshall the more you become comfortable using it. Number four is building mental and emotional toughness which is known as resilience.

[00:12:02]Some of us we are very weak emotionally, strong physically, weak emotionally. We break down at the slightest little touch of pain, touch of discomfort when it comes to our emotions. This is why we're constantly outsourcing the regulation of our emotions. What I mean by that is that rather than you regulating your emotion, you charge somebody else with triggering me. Nobody triggered you.

[00:12:33]When you say you triggered me, that is an excuse for you to not regulate your emotions and charge the other person with, you know, triggering you. You triggered me. Nobody can trigger you when you regulate your own emotions. You did something or said something that made me uncomfortable.

[00:12:53]But I'm not triggered. I control my emotions. The Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam said, The strong person is not the person who can throw somebody to the ground. That's outsourcing.

[00:13:09]That's physical strength. The prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam said that's weakness.

[00:13:14]Physical strength in Islam is weakness.

[00:13:17]Real strength in Islam is emotional regulation.

[00:13:22]He said the strong person is not the person that can wrestle someone to the ground. The strong person is the person that can control himself when he's angry.

[00:13:31]That's called emotional regulation.

[00:13:35]Not I got angry. We all get angry. It's not about getting angry. It's about what you do with yourself when you become angry. Regulate your emotions. Stop making other people responsible for your emotions. Patience start with you first.

[00:13:52]And the greatest form of patience that you can exercise is with the emotions that Allah subhana t gave you.

[00:13:59]make sense? Am I making sense here? Or I'm speaking in a in a in a manner that is impractical.

[00:14:10]>> Okay.

[00:14:12]So, run it back to me real quick. One was what?

[00:14:17]Change your mindset from what?

[00:14:22]>> Huh?

[00:14:25]>> Change your mindset from being a victim.

[00:14:27]Seeing things happening for you, not happening to you.

[00:14:31]>> Number one. Number two, >> consistenc >> stay consistent. Why? What is What is the deal with consistency?

[00:14:40]>> It builds discipline. Builds discipline.

[00:14:43]Even when you don't necessarily see the results, the results are there. Don't focus on the results. Focus on the discipline that you're building. Number three, >> be compassionate to yourself.

[00:14:55]>> Be compassionate to yourself. Why?

[00:14:59]Why?

[00:15:01]>> Because developing patience is a process. We're not going to get it right on the first try, second try, third try.

[00:15:07]We're not going to get it right all the time. We're going to fail. It's like a person who is a recovering recovering from the disease of addiction.

[00:15:16]Part of the recovery process is to relapse. Did you know that? That's part of the recovery process.

[00:15:23]Most recovering addicts don't fully recover until they they go through a relapse. Maybe once, maybe twice, sometimes three times. But that's part of the process. Be merciful with yourself. Even if you relapse, you are still on the path to recovery.

[00:15:41]Same thing as it relates to patience.

[00:15:43]You are still working at patience.

[00:15:46]Because you failed in this moment or failed in that moment doesn't mean that you're a failure at patience. And just give up. That's it.

[00:15:53]No, I'm going to get back up and I'm going to try again. Number four, >> build emotional toughness, right? Stop outsourcing um the regulation of your emotions.

[00:16:07]Build emotional toughness, mental toughness. Build your belief in yourself that you have the ability to handle difficult situations. You can handle this. And the last one uh is to focus on what is in your control and leave everything else to Allah subhana wa ta'ala.

[00:16:27]If it is out of your control, tell yourself today from this day forward, if it's out of my control, it's in the hands of Allah.

[00:16:34]I'm not investing any of my mental, my emotional, nothing. I'm not investing anything in it because it's out of my control.

[00:16:45]Understand? And most things are out of our control.

[00:16:49]This is why we suffer from anxiety. This is why we suffer from so many mental illnesses because we spend so much of our time trying to control things and or people that are out of our control. It's not in your control. Leave it in the hands of Allah.

[00:17:09]In the words of prophet, I leave my affairs in the hands of Allah. meaning the affairs that I have no control over.

[00:17:18]This is not surrender. This is surrendering the things that are out of your control.

[00:17:26]And you this is so is freeing. I'm not telling you things that I don't practice myself.

[00:17:33]>> These are things that I work on on a daily basis. And it to the to a person who is not working on themselves, you look cold.

[00:17:43]You look like a person that had people will charge you with having no emotion and being cold and being no. It says I'm regulated.

[00:17:53]I'm not all over the place and I can be manipulated. No. And you become a dangerous individual when you do this.

[00:18:01]Dangerous because people can't manipulate you. People can't dump their stuff on you. People have to now deal with you differently if they even want to deal with you at all because you are regulated. You have now become a soldier for Allah subhana wa ta'ala not for shan not for the ego or the neoort of anybody else. I spent many years of my life as a teenager doing things to please other people. That's part of the process of being a teen. You want to be accepted. You want to be a part of the crowd. And so you do things even though you know it is out of the scope of your persona, but you do it anyway because you want to be liked by this one. You want to be accepted by this group. You want to be okay amongst these group of people. Until you realize as you get to a certain point in your life, you realize that I invested so much of my time trying to make everybody else happy with me that I forgot to make me happy with me.

[00:19:02]I forgot about me.

[00:19:06]And so when you take the focus off of everybody else and you start focusing on yourself, you become a dangerous person.

[00:19:12]And people hate that because they can't manipulate you anymore. They can't control you anymore.

[00:19:19]So no, you're not cold, you're regulated.

[00:19:25]And we ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala for his ti. But these are things that help to build patience in you. Inshalla, hopefully we will take this, we'll practice it, we'll continue to work at it until we master these things. Someone can say with everything going out on on in the world right now, why would you stand up in front of people and talk about, you know, perfecting your own personal self, perfecting your moral character and concentrating on yourself? Because the greatest currency and the greatest form of intelligence that a human being can have is moral character.

[00:20:08]We never the world could be crumbling beyond the four walls of this room and self regulation, self-perfection, jihad, the neps, waging war against your own soul and putting yourself in alignment with Allah subhana wa tala with God will always be the pinnacle the highest mark of human intelligence.

[00:20:34]Always.

[00:20:36]The prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam said that if yoka was tomorrow and one of you have a seed in your hand plant it anyway.

[00:20:46]Plant it anyway.

[00:20:48]Even if your PM is tomorrow. Someone can say well why plant a seed if your PM is tomorrow? Because you just never know.

[00:20:56]You never know.

[00:20:59]That's called optimism. the pinnacle of optimism as we talked about inbar earlier. Learn how to be optimistic even when it looks like the world around you is crumbling beneath your feet and Allah subhana wa ta'ala knows best.

[00:21:16]Once again, may Allah subhana wa ta reward you all for your uh for your listening. Uh I know we have some people in here that are not Muslim. Can you raise your hand if you're not Muslim?

[00:21:26]Okay. So as we don't like to impose the religion on anybody but we do like to offer we believe that we are standing on gold.

[00:21:37]If what you heard here tonight inspired you or made you feel any any inkling of an inclination towards accepting Islam, I have only given you a drop from the morning dew.

[00:21:53]What you heard here tonight is nothing in comparison to what we've all experienced and what you would experience if you decided to become a Muslim. So we extend the invitation to you guys tonight. If any of you are interested in accepting Islam tonight or looking further into the religion tonight, we are here to help you and to facilitate that for you by all means or by any means necessary. Is there anyone that's interested in becoming a Muslim?

[00:22:27]It's a simple process. There is no baptism. We're not going to dip you in water. Um, we're going to simply make you acknowledge what your soul already acknowledges and that God is one and Muhammad is his messenger. That's it.

[00:22:42]And then once you accept that, then you start your journey towards God.

[00:22:47]If not, no pressure, but the offer is there and at any point you can speak to anyone in this room and they would be able to point you in the right direction. Okay. Okay.

[00:23:37]>> Um I had this discussion with someone the other night and um I was just wondering is the world truly truly a worse place than it used to be?

[00:23:53]Or is it just that because um we have access to so much more instantaneous information, we hear about things a lot more and um a lot faster than we used to say. Um I don't know what 30 years ago or even say 20 years ago when the internet was new. I mean now we pretty much have it's not even a 24-hour news cycle. It's almost a a 36-hour news cycle. I mean if something happens in Asia right right now in 10 minutes I will get a notification from my New York Times app that this happened. You know, I'm not necessarily saying that yes, there is more of certain kinds of things, but we just hear about it more, whereas before it wouldn't have made we do. Do Do you understand the point?

[00:24:59]>> I I totally understand what you're saying.

[00:25:01]>> It's just that we didn't have access to all that information before and then it's almost like with certain things, it's it's like monkey see monkey do. So if somebody sees um you know like a little while ago, I don't know if it was last year or the year before, there was this thing where people were going into the supermarkets and pulling out the ice cream and licking it and putting it back. I don't know how that started, but then that became a thing and we started hearing about it.

[00:25:27]>> I got you. I got you. So I'm going to reiterate the question so that those of our viewers online can hear the question. So she says uh she's asking is the world actually worse um today than it was >> some time ago.

[00:25:44]>> But is it that that much worse?

[00:25:46]>> Is it that much worse? Or is it that we have access to information that we didn't have access to before which makes us more privy to more of the things that are going on around the world. It is the access to that information that makes the world far worse.

[00:26:09]Ignorance in some regard is bliss because you could have been here in Bermuda 30 years ago and something was happening in Brooklyn, New York and you didn't have a clue. And as a result of that, you were not affected with the bombardment of that information. You were able to live your life freely without actually knowing that that incident happened. So it's with the increase of the information that makes the world far more challenging. You understand? All information is not good information. In Islam, we're taught to seek refuge with Allah from information that is not beneficial. That means that there's beneficial information and there is unbeneficial information. Right? And if there is bene if prophet Muhammad sought refuge, may peace and blessings be upon him. If Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam sought refuge in Allah from knowledge that does not benefit, that means that he wants God's protection from information that has no benefit. That means information that has no benefit makes the world a far worse place than years ago when people didn't have access to this information.

[00:27:19]Information overload, um being bombarded with things. I mean, even during the month of Ramadan, and many of the Muslims can attest to this, uh, I actually don't even go on Twitter because every year during the month of Ramadan, you see all of these pictures of Palestinian children under rubble, half of body parts, and and this is happening during Ramadan. the algorithm is putting this out into the atmosphere to such a degree I don't even want to look on Twitter because the moment you open it, you're seeing all of this stuff and it just it strips you of any sense of hope that you may have had and any sense of you might have woken up in a good mood and then you see one post and it just destroys your entire mood. And so it is with this information that you're talking about that actually makes the world a worse place than it was when we didn't have access to it in my and that's my opinion. I'm not giving you like something from the Quran or something from Prophet Muhammad. I'm just saying from my perspective.

[00:28:21]>> I do understand that. So then it's a choice whether or not you seek out certain types of information.

[00:28:27]>> Not necessarily. Because here again this is what bombardment of information means. meaning you are being flooded with information that you didn't ask for. And this could be with just a simple click of a button um that you scroll past and the algorithm will automatically assume that you want more of that and it'll flood your timeline with information that you didn't ask for. You can have a conversation about something and then you'll open up your phone and there's an ad for the very thing that you were just having a conversation about. You think that Siri doesn't hear you when you're talking? If I say to my phone right now, "Hey Siri, Siri's going to respond." That means she's always listening.

[00:29:10]Even if she doesn't respond, she's still listening.

[00:29:16]>> Yes.

[00:29:17]>> Yes. Okay. So, um the story of >> Yes. sacrifice.

[00:29:25]>> Yes.

[00:29:25]>> If he is if he was a good person and respected God's creation, how would he to be willing to sacrifice his son knowing that his son.

[00:29:41]>> What makes it acceptable for God to command Ibraim to slaughter his son, another human being?

[00:29:50]>> Another one of Allah subhanaa tala's creatures.

[00:29:53]Okay. So he was what was expected of him was to see how far he would go because when he got to the point where he proved to God that he would do it, God sent him a lamb instead and says slaughter the lamb instead of slaughtering your son.

[00:30:09]So the goal wasn't actually for him to slaughter his son. It was to prove to God how far are you willing to go to prove your love for Allah subhana wa tala. He was never going to slaughter his son. He put the knife to his neck because he this is what is called radical faith that I am willing to go as far as my faith will take me to prove to God that I love him more. And when he got to that point Allah subhana wa tala God said no enough. The goal was not for him to slaughter his son. The goal was to see how far he would go to prove his love for Allah subhana wa ta'ala. And tests like that happen to all of us in our personal lives. In our personal life, how far are you willing to go in terms of your physical body, we perform Hajj, we go to make pilgrimage, which is the the the epitome of exertion of yourself to such a degree. Prophet Muhammad referred to it as jihad, as war, battle for a woman. Aisha asked the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam, can women fight in war? He said, "No, you can fight, but not in a a war that requires fighting. But the war that is for women is Haj and Umra because you are going to exert the same amount of energy in performing Hajj as you as a man would going to war. That's your war. And so, how far can you push yourself while you're performing that act of worship?"

[00:31:37]And so, the goal wasn't for him to slaughter his son. The goal was to see how far how close to slaughtering his son he would come.

[00:31:47]You mentioned >> is it I mentioned what >> morals >> morals.

[00:32:12]>> So you said can you repeat that? I couldn't really hear you.

[00:32:16]Can someone reiterate or she can reiterate or something?

[00:32:22]She's saying that you mention moral >> right >> moral consciousness >> right >> so she's saying to as such that it's going against what you're saying is going against what god god god moral consciousness saying doesn't add up >> prophet Ibraim slaughtering his son goes against moral consciousness Okay.

[00:32:54]>> Right.

[00:33:01]>> Okay.

[00:33:07]>> What is testing if your quarantine is your toarm but closest to you which is your child.

[00:33:17]>> Okay. So, she's saying that this is we're getting philosophical here. She's saying that if you are supposed to be a moral person as a Muslim and part of morality is not to do harm to another person. How could God ask Prophet Ibraim to slaughter his son which goes against morality? which goes against morality because it involves harming another human being. Am I am I understanding you correctly? Okay, great. So here again, the command, God's command supersedes human intellect.

[00:33:56]Meaning what God commands us to do doesn't necessarily always make sense to us as human beings. And while we may look at it from a human standpoint that that involves harming the person, Ibraim never harmed his son here. Again, Allah wanted to see to test the limits to see how far you would go in your pursuit of love of God. Because in love of God, you are going to hurt people.

[00:34:25]Right or wrong? Do you believe that in your love of God, you in your pursuit of the love of God, you are going to disappoint. you are going to hurt people.

[00:34:34]>> But it would not be the intention.

[00:34:36]>> No. But Ibraim's intention wasn't to inflict harm on his son. Ibraim's intention was to please God. Follow God's command.

[00:34:46]Follow God's command.

[00:34:49]In the in right in the Bakar um the chapter number two in the Quran, it's called the Bakar after a story regarding a cat. So during the time of prophet Moses, a man was killed. And the Jews, they did not want to tell. They had the no snitching rule. They did the no snitching rule. They didn't want to tell who killed the man. So God commanded Moses to tell them to slaughter a cow and then take a piece of the meat of that cow, strike the body of the dead man, and the dead man would come back to life and tell who killed him. They knew that that's what that meant. So they avoided slaughtering the cow as it goes.

[00:35:35]They asked, "What color should it be?

[00:35:36]Should it be male or female?" They're going through the whole rigomearo to avoid doing it. And then that same group of people, Allah subhana wa ta'ala, God commanded that all of them be killed.

[00:35:48]That could seem like it's immoral. Why would God do that? Here again, God's commands doesn't always align with human understanding of morality. God has a bigger plan. God's knowledge is infinite. His wisdom is infinite. So while he's commanding us to do something because there's something greater that he's trying to lead us to beyond that, we're looking at it trying to philosophize it by saying, "Well, that's immoral." God is the one who sets the bar of what morality is and what it's not. We don't. So the same morality that you're saying that God asked him to go against is the same morality that God created to begin with.

[00:36:28]It it all belongs to him. He set the bar.

[00:36:34]>> Does that make sense?

[00:36:35]>> Yes.

[00:36:35]>> The same morality that you're saying that God told Abraham to go against is the same morality that he was the one that created. He created it.

[00:36:44]>> So if somebody is tempted by >> Satan and we judge that off of our moral compass to say this is going to be the How do you how would he have known because this act is seen as from our human emotions to not kill your son. How would you know that God was speaking to you and not?

[00:37:14]>> How did he know that it was from God and not from Satan?

[00:37:17]>> How would you know? Because your determination goes off of what is so murder, it's like about if you like that that's talking to you how would you know that's actually >> so for for a spiritual person how would you know that that's from God and not from Satan so for a spiritual person they would know that it's from God because of the intuition that God gives them. We're talking about a prophet here. We're not talking about a normal person. So God revealed to him in a dream. He saw it in a dream three times.

[00:37:54]First time he saw it, he nixed it. He totally did away with it. Saw it in a dream again. Saw it in a dream third time. All right. Dreams were the one of the ways that God communicated revelation to prophets and messengers.

[00:38:08]>> All right. So the fact that he saw it in a dream for the third time, he was convinced at that point that this is from God and not from Shaitan. Shapan wouldn't have ordered Ibraim to kill his son because Shaan doesn't order you to do things like that without stairstepping you up to that way first.

[00:38:28]Shayan is a corruptor of senses. A command to slaughter your son is not a corruption of your senses.

[00:38:36]Corruption of your senses is to now corrupt your sense of right and wrong.

[00:38:40]Corrupt your sense of standards, morals, and values. That is the stairstep process until you decide to kill the person. Shaitan doesn't command you to kill somebody. Shaitan corrupts your senses and then paints a picture that wrong is right. That wasn't what Ibraim experienced. He experienced a dream. He saw three times that he was supposed to slaughter his son that he knew that it came from God and he was willing to show God how far he was willing to go through that. But shaitan is not going to command you to kill somebody. He doesn't operate like that. Shaitan takes you step by step by step. So you end up killing the person and Shayan before God says I had nothing to do with that. That was all you.

[00:39:26]>> That was all you. Shaitan would never tell you to kill someone. He's going to corrupt your senses all the way up to the point where you do it yourself.

[00:39:34]Shaitan doesn't want to have to carry the blame of human behavior. So this is why he makes wrongdoing seem right. So when you do it, you are all on your own.

[00:39:46]There's a verse in the Quran that speaks to that where Allahh says it's likean when he says to the human being disbelieve.

[00:39:57]Doesn't just say disbelief but there's a stairstep process until you get to the point where you disbelieve. And then when you disbelieve in God, Shayan says I'm free from you. I believe in Allah.

[00:40:08]you on your own with that. He corrupts your senses to the point where you end up doing the work for him. He's not going to do it for you.

[00:40:17]>> That makes sense.

[00:40:18]>> There's two questions, brother. I think it says >> Okay.

[00:40:22]>> Yes.

[00:40:29]>> Let's speak on the decree of Allah.

[00:40:35]>> The decree of Allah subhana wa tala.

[00:40:37]Yes. So the of Allah is what Allah decides. So the first thing Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam said the first thing that Allah created was the pen and then he told the pen write.

[00:40:48]The pen said what shall I write? Allah he's Allah said write everything that is to take place until the day of judgment.

[00:40:56]What that pin wrote is what is called the the divine decree. Meaning everything that takes place, everything that is happening right now was already written that it was going to happen down to every leaf that falls, every raindrop that falls, when it falls, how hard it falls, right? So beautiful about the raindrop. Like if anything, nothing that falls from that high from the clouds falls on a human being except that it would kill him except a raindrop.

[00:41:29]Did you ever think about that? The raindrop falls from such a high distance and by the time it hits you it's just a little tap you barely for it. It's from the mercy of Allah subhanaa tala. But down to every raindrop every breath that we take every beat of our heart it's hard for us. The more and more detail that I go into the more and more our brains become exhausted trying to understand this because it's beyond human comprehension. We were only operating with a small percentage of our brain capacity. Maybe seven, eight, maybe the best of us 10% of your brain.

[00:42:08]So to try to understand that is beyond as Allah uses a metaphor in the Quran.

[00:42:13]He said, "If all of the trees on the earth were pins and all of the oceans with seven other oceans added to it were ink, to write out the words and explain the Quran, you would run out of ink before you could fully explain the Quran."

[00:42:33]Think about that for a moment.

[00:42:36]It will it will bust your brain trying to sit down and and imagine this and figure this out because our brain only goes to a certain place and then it stops.

[00:42:49]The of Allah subhana wa tala is everything that Allah decreed to take place up until meaning everything that is happening right now has already happened.

[00:42:59]This is why in hadith when prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam says that he looked in the hellfire and he saw people in the hellfire. How could he see people in the hellfire and and yokayama hasn't taken place yet.

[00:43:11]How?

[00:43:13]Because to us it hasn't taken place yet.

[00:43:15]To God he doesn't operate on a timeline.

[00:43:20]It has already happened. So what prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam saw was the future of people that are being punished in the hellfire. People who are in Jenna, right? That had already happened. We are still trying to catch up to that time. But that has already happened. This is why we experience deja vu. I felt like I've seen this before.

[00:43:44]I've been here before. This happened before. You experience that because your soul had an experience before it occupied your body. Did you know that your soul had an experience, an entire experience before it occupied your body?

[00:43:59]As a matter of fact, the person that you end up with, you knew each other before you occupied the bodies that you're in right now. This is why the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam says souls are like conscripted soldiers. No matter where they are, if they have an affinity towards one another, they will find each other. no matter where they are.

[00:44:18]>> So the story of Abraham sacrificing his son, >> why did God command him to do that if he already knew?

[00:44:26]>> No, it started over long before it.

[00:44:30]>> Right.

[00:44:32]>> Right.

[00:44:34]>> It started what?

[00:44:35]>> It started off long before.

[00:44:38]>> Yes.

[00:44:39]>> Right. Long before Allah subhana wa tala gave the command, it was already written. Me marrying my wife, me being a Muslim, my life has already been ridden, >> right?

[00:44:47]>> I'm just living it out.

[00:44:48]>> You're living it out.

[00:44:50]>> Abraham is the same thing.

[00:44:51]>> Yeah.

[00:44:53]>> That's right.

[00:44:53]>> That's the point that you're trying to get to.

[00:44:55]>> That's right.

[00:44:56]>> Okay. So, that's the point. She's not listening, >> huh? She's explaining to her. Okay.

[00:45:05]Alhamdulillah. Cuz that's a lot to digest. But yes, it was already So to to go back to the point that I mentioned, why would God test him with this if he already knew that he was going to pass the test?

[00:45:22]>> Question. That's a question for you.

[00:45:25]>> Yeah.

[00:45:26]>> Why would God test us with something if he already knows?

[00:45:32]>> Okay.

[00:45:40]>> Very good. Very good.

[00:45:44]Spoken like you believe >> because it's for you to figure out, not for God. He already knows.

[00:45:52]>> Repeat after me.

[00:45:56]>> That's right. Go ahead and take your shahada.

[00:45:59]Stop fighting. Stop fighting him. You can't fight it. Once you get a whiff of this, I don't care how you tussle with it, how you wrestle with it, always wins. God always gets his way.

[00:46:14]You can fight as much as you want. God always wins. I promise you. The first time I heard Islam, I knew it was the truth, but I wasn't ready. Said, "Nah."

[00:46:26]And I went to bed. I wrestled with it. I wrestled with it until I heard a message again and I said, you know, let me just go ahead and accept it because you're not going to be able to shake it. That's the nature of truth. When it aligns with your spirit can't shake it no matter how much you fight it, God always wins.

[00:46:47]Because if God wills for you to be a Muslim, all of the fighting in the world is not going to win.

[00:46:55]Yeah.

[00:46:56]It could be today, tomorrow, next week, next year. It will happen.

[00:47:03]>> Any other questions?

[00:47:05]We we don't don't create any questions if you don't have a legitimate question.

[00:47:09]I do not get pleasure out of sitting here answering questions. It's mentally draining. Yes. And then last one. Last one.

[00:47:22]>> Muslims that aren't religious.

[00:47:27]question.

[00:47:30]So, if God exists, why does he >> Okay, I think I answered that in in the in the in the discussion. She said, "When people ask questions, people who are not necessarily religious people or may not have a religious foundation that they're coming from, they're operating from, they may ask questions like, well, if God exists, why does this happening?

[00:48:08]Why is wars happening? Why are children born deformed? Why are these things happening?" Um, how do you respond to that? And does anyone remember what I mentioned earlier? What did I mention earlier?

[00:48:20]>> It's the doing of man. So, everything that's happened with the wars Even children need to form that's radiation.

[00:48:26]It's from the hands of man. And it's up to us as men to use the tools that Allah has given us to res.

[00:48:34]>> Absolutely.

[00:48:35]>> Absolutely. It why the the quickest way to remove responsibility is to blame God. Why is God letting this happen?

[00:48:48]>> Why should God intervene when God had already told us that this was wrong? We already know number one, we're born naturally knowing the difference between right and wrong.

[00:49:00]Morality is not a social construct. It is a divine construct. We are born knowing the difference between right and wrong. Children know the difference between right and wrong. Even when you don't tell them >> why there something inside of them, their intuition is telling them that this is this is wrong.

[00:49:17]>> Which is why some of them go tell mom such and such this such and such.

[00:49:22]They're telling because their nature is to get that out of them because to live with that creates what's called dissonance.

[00:49:30]Meaning you hold a belief about something being wrong but yet you witness the wrong and you don't say. So you live with this internal discomfort and that's not natural for human beings.

[00:49:42]This is why people who do crimes, they live with it. They torture themselves and then somewhere along the line they go and they admit I didn't because they can't live with it anymore.

[00:49:52]We weren't designed to live like that.

[00:49:55]Truth, this is why truth is natural. It takes This is why when you lie, there's certain facial expressions, body movements, and a person who knows this, they can detect when you're lying because you exert more energy when you're to to to lie than you would telling the truth.

[00:50:17]>> Telling the truth is natural. lying, you have to go against your nature to tell a lie. And so when people say, "Why does this happen? Why does that happen?"

[00:50:28]They're removing the responsibility from human beings and dumping it all on God.

[00:50:33]Why is God letting this happen? He let this happen because this is what human beings have done to themselves.

[00:50:39]We have to take responsibility for the environment, the atmosphere that we created. God is there to give us the tools to fix the problems that we've created. Sometimes he intervenes in situations and personal situations in global situations but that is for a greater wisdom that only he knows. But he's not going to stop situations especially going back to the if he has already decreed that something is going to happen even no matter how bad it looks to the people who are experiencing it the has to play out. He doesn't change that.

[00:51:16]Right? As a parent, look at yourself as a parent and you put down certain rules with your children. And if you break those rules, these are the consequences.

[00:51:25]And even if the child breaks the rules, you're not going to not give them the consequence because you feel like the consequence would be seen as, you know, wrong in the eyes of the child. No, I have to carry out the consequence.

[00:51:38]Otherwise, you're not going to respect the rules.

[00:51:41]So Allah subhana wa ta'ala lays down the the divine decree and lets it play out.

[00:51:46]If he was to intervene every time the human being felt like we're being done wrong, we would never value or respect the of Allah. We wouldn't value and respect the power and the authority of God. There has to be respect and reverence for Allah's for God's authority. And he already told us if you do this, this is the consequence of doing this >> oppression.

[00:52:09]We've been warned about oppression anywhere where oppression. As a matter of fact, he said that Allah will aid a nation of disbelievers who operate on the premise of justice and will punish a na the nation of Muslims who operate on the premise of injustice.

[00:52:30]Cuz in that case, it has nothing to do with belief or dispute. It goes back to whether or not we should support Iran and what's going on in the war between Israel and Iran. We don't stand with Iran because they're Muslim. Belief has nothing to do with it because Shiism is something totally different. Some of their sects of Shiism takes them outside of the fold of Islam. And I'm not here to get into an argument or debate about that. But what I'm saying is that it's not an issue of creed. It's an issue of justice. People were saying Israel has a right to defend themselves. Iran has a right to defend themselves. And we stand with the people who are being dealt an injustice. No matter who they are, even if they're disbelievers. If a Muslim oppresses a non-Muslim, do you stand in solidarity with the Muslim because that's your Muslim brother? No. We stand with the disbeliever because he's being dealt an injustice. Has nothing to do with faith. has nothing to do with creed. It has to do with justice, fairness. That's what we stand with.

[00:53:39]>> Allah subhana wa ta'ala tells us, "And let a group from amongst you stand upon justice even if it be against your own family members."

[00:53:48]Allah's telling us to go against our blood if they are involved in injustice. We stand with fairness and justice. So it has nothing to do with whether or not they're Muslim, we're Muslim. We stand in solidarity with Iran. I don't stand in solidarity with Iran because they're Muslims. I stand not necessarily in solidarity, but I support their right to defend themselves. They're oppressed.

[00:54:12]I stand in the I stand in defense of anyone who is oppressed. Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam just to give you some Islamic context, he sent his companion Muay to go call non-Muslims to Islam. He said, "Let the first thing that you invite them to be."

[00:54:29]the concept that there is no god, no deity that deserves worship except Allah. He said then tell them after they accept that that they have to pray five times a day and then tell them about zakat, tell them about haj, tell them about fasting. He said, no, he didn't say about fasting because fasting hadn't been legislated yet. He said, "And I warn you against oppressing them.

[00:54:54]I caution you against the dua of the oppressed person, even if he's a disbeliever.

[00:55:02]We think that Allah only answers the dua of Muslims. Are you crazy? Allah answers the dua of anybody that calls on him.

[00:55:11]>> Anybody?

[00:55:14]You think that a person because they're not Muslim who calls on God that God doesn't respond to him because he's not Muslim?

[00:55:22]When was about to be drowned in the Red Sea, he called out to Allah in that moment and he said, "I believe in the Lord of Bi is and I am from amongst the Muslims from those who believe." And Allah subhana wa ta'ala says, "Now you want to relieve." Angel Gabriel told Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam he said if you could only see me stuffing dirt in the mouth of when he uttered that out of fear that Allah would respond to his dua. This is I was stuffing DIRT IN HIS MOUTH OUT OF FEAR that the mercy of Allah would overcome his anger and he would spare.

[00:56:04]>> I didn't want him to be spared.

[00:56:07]>> And that's >> and that's angel jabil.

[00:56:11]Subhan Allah.

[00:56:13]So corruption has appeared on land and on sea because of what the hands of man have done.

[00:56:21]And so we have to take responsibility.

[00:56:23]But here again, we live in a time where we want to justify everything and we want to put everything on God. No, it's not on God. It's on us.

[00:56:33]>> Last question.

[00:56:35]>> I I hope that answers your question.

[00:56:37]>> Yes. My question is we spoke about patience but from the perspective of when things outside of our control happen to us but what if many times we slip up in our own lives and we as you said we are the cause of these things that befall us. How what type of patient should we employ then even though okay we admit that we were wrong we messed up and this is why this happened to us.

[00:57:00]What type of patient should we should we have guilt? Should we have hope? What type of patient should we have?

[00:57:05]>> Good question. Great question. So he said that we talked about patience earlier and sometimes we do things in our own personal lives that we have to reap the consequences of and in the process of reaping the consequences of that action, what type of patience should we display at that time? He mentioned guilt, he mentioned shame or whatever the case may be. Those are not necessarily manifestations of patience.

[00:57:36]But the first thing that you should accept is that you are a human being.

[00:57:41]That's my humanness. Here again, that's self-compassion. There you go. That's the first level of patience. I'm a human being. I messed up. I'm a human being.

[00:57:52]It happens.

[00:57:56]They say that when a person reminds you of your mistake, they're only reminding you that you're human.

[00:58:03]Because the more and more you move away from your humanness, the more and more you put expectations on yourself that are not realistic. Like I'm supposed to be perfect. Like you have people who suffer from perfectionism, right? That's a thing. People who want to be perfect.

[00:58:20]And that's a I don't want to go into the the mental illness part of that, but perfectionism is um is a is a result of some type of trauma. It's a trauma response, right? Whether you were yelled at as a kid or you were blamed for everything. So you try to be perfect so as to avoid being held accountable for things uh that are above your capacity to to bear. Um, nonetheless, the first thing that you want to do is have compassion to yourself by saying, "I'm a human." That's that's me being human.

[00:58:54]That's number one. Number two is to accept the consequences. Don't try to navigate and wiggle your way out of it.

[00:59:00]Because by moving out of the way of your consequence, it may miss you here, but it's going to catch up to you somewhere else.

[00:59:11]Better to deal with the consequence right then and there at that moment than to avoid the con consequence in that moment and think that you got away with it and it catches up to you somewhere else where you weren't prepared for it to catch up.

[00:59:25]>> Happens all the time, right? Anybody ever experienced that?

[00:59:29]You you dodged the bullet here, but it caught you over here.

[00:59:34]And it caught you at a time where you weren't actually prepared to catch it.

[00:59:38]And then you start to say, "Man, I should have just took the bullet back when I didn't. Now I'm catching it here and I wasn't really ready for it or this is the worst time for this to catch up to me." It's like, "You should have just dealt with it then." Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam, he uh I I'm I'mma skip that because that would take us down a different road.

[01:00:03]Nonetheless, there are verses in the Quran where Allah subhana t even admonished prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam uh because he tried to move out of the way of a mistake that he made and Allah subhana wa ta'ala admonished him about it and now it's in the Quran to be recited until I mean he accepted that right read where he made something haram that Allah made halal for him first ay Oh prophet, oh prophet, why did you make haram what Allah made halal for you seeking to please your wife? No that's not your you don't get to make something haram that I made halal first ayat and will be recited to because of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam trying to smooth out a situation when he should have just said I was wrong and I just got to deal with the consequence of it. I don't want to go into the story, but you can go back and read the tapsier of it and you'll thank me later for introducing you to that. But it shows even his own humanness.

[01:01:11]But don't try to wiggle your way out of the consequence. Just deal with the consequence. Accept it that this is what I deserve as a result of what I did. And then of course lastly is to make toba to repent. Ask Allah subhanaa tala for forgiveness.

[01:01:27]Ask Allah subhanaa tala for forgiveness.

[01:01:29]And even if you go back and you do it again and you follow that same process all over again, you have mercy upon yourself realizing that you're a human being. You accept the consequence that come to it come with it. You make toba and ask Allahhana tala for forgiveness.

[01:01:44]You put yourself back in alignment with Allah subhana tala. And that's the process.
