The AetherSDR is a Software Defined Radio (SDR) system that can be operated using a Raspberry Pi 4 with a touch screen interface, allowing users to control radio parameters like filters, squelch, and volume through a graphical interface; the system requires a Flex radio for signal reception and operates wirelessly over a network, with the touch screen providing an alternative to traditional keypad controls for managing radio functions.

AetherSDR - Raspberry Pi4b & Super Touch Screen
Added:M0FXB, Aether SDR on my Raspberry Pi 4. I love these screens. They're £42 delivered.
Now, they do not include the Raspberry Pi. And to have this, you need a Flex radio. And don't forget they they cost a few pounds. But anyway, I've got a keyboard paired to this. And it does have a little pad.
Um so, watch this. Now, we can we can actually tap the screen, okay? So, let me just do that.
Uh 20. And it's making the radio change.
Now, you can't just you know, download this app and you're receiving what I'm receiving, okay? You can't do that. You need the Flex radio.
Just just for the people that messages me saying saying that cuz I've had a few say to me, "Oh, where do you download that, you know?"
But you need the Flex radio. Band 40.
All right. So, and everything works.
You've got your panel here on the side.
And it's so nice that you can do it all touch screen. I tend to prefer using my you know, my keypad here.
And of course, you're only going to get signals if the if the conditions are good.
So, I'm just clicking.
Now, this does have an internal you know, this little screen does have internal speaker.
Uh I have paired via Bluetooth. It's got Wi-Fi, of course. Let me show you the Pi.
So, if you look here, we've got the Raspberry Pi 4.
You've got the cables that are coming getting the power from the GPIO. This colored cable is uh allowing the touch screen to work.
This HDMI cable from this HDMI connection um is giving you the screen. And this screen will work on everything. Yeah, it doesn't just doesn't have to be a Pi.
Uh USB-C in 2 amp there. It feeds the Pi. And then the Pi feeds everything with power.
So, the amount of experiments you can do with this. Let me just double click some of these signals.
And you compare this with VNC.
Volume here. Oh, it's quite loud already.
And this is So, I'm just uh I don't think that would make any difference anyway.
Um so, what we got here?
Receive controls, power.
We can show SWR meter.
S meter there. Antennas, we can change antennas.
Moving down, we've got our filters there.
2.7 bandwidth here.
Squelch.
It is a bit fiddly, you know.
Because it's a small screen, but the app is brilliant. Look at all that.
And let's just Well, what else we got up here?
Volume's loud. I'm just going to click here.
You got your flag control.
Oh, look at that.
And someone there.
Band antenna display.
Memory in the DACs.
Let's take this one. You can hide the See the way it hid it there?
PC audio, turn on and off.
Pan lock. Oh.
It's quite a big signal meter. Let's click that.
All your little extra things you can enable. Cat, TCI, IQ.
Great.
Uh where's our mode?
I know it's right in front of me.
There it is there.
Mode, DSP.
There you go.
XRT.
Dax.
TX. You can move the TX. You can hear the I can hear the radio click there.
It's all This is all wireless. It's just You need to be on the same network.
There's excellent here. CPU is Raspberry Pi 4.
And then look, you can go back to single.
Oh.
They're right on two, aren't they?
So yeah, it's not the best speaker, but there is a volume on this. Let me just see if I can find it without turning it off.
>> [snorts] >> Uh it's just a bit dark here.
I'll just go as loud as you can go. But like I said, you get these screens and you can experiment with so many different different, you know, gadgets.
It doesn't have to be You could, you know, you could um You could do WSJT-X. You can add Wi-Fi to your Icom 7300 with this using WFView. Let me get the torch out so I can see which one is the the volume.
Exit, on, off, menu, up and down. Let's try the up.
That's the brightness.
Uh power's at the top.
Menu.
Where's volume? There it is.
Volume.
It is loud anyway.
It's such a small screen. I think that's enough for now, but anyway, um check it out. Bye for now.
