German nicknames for romantic partners range from affectionate terms like 'Schätzchen' (treasure) and animal-based nicknames (Maus, Hase, Bär) to cheeky or rude terms like 'Alter' (old man/woman), with many Germans preferring to simply use the person's name or refer to them as 'my wife' or 'my husband' rather than using nicknames.

American Reacts to Funny German NICKNAMESAdded:
V and welcome back to the channel. Thank you so much for being here. Today I have a very fun looking video. This is funny German nicknames. Oh baby, I love learning new German words and phrases, especially silly, crazy, goofy ones such as I'm assuming German nicknames. German insults is also fun, too. You can check that video out. I'll link it down in the description. That's a good one. But now we got German nicknames. I'm very excited. Enough yapping. Let's hop straight into it. Los skates.
Hey rabbits, it's Trixie. When you're in a relationship, it's not unusual to give your partner a nickname. This can be something cute or well, a little bit embarrassing that kind of fits to the personality of the person. And of course, every culture and every country has its own variety of nicknames. I present to you the most common German ones. In this video, cute or torture, you decide.
>> Shotsi. That's the only one I know.
>> A lot of Germans actually don't use a nickname for their beloved ones. They just use the name or refer to him or her as my wife or my husband. But if they do, the most common nickname in Germany is shuts, which means treasure.
Sorry.
>> Video. I already >> I already watched this one. What? I already watched this video. It's linked down in the description right now. You can go check it out after this one.
German insults. Another very funny video. Anyways, >> about the most common German insults which included a lot of animals like pig, dog, um cow, goat, something like that. But animals can also be used in a positive way as a nickname. The following animals can be used as German nicknames for beloved ones.
>> Mouse.
>> Oh, >> h rabbit.
Retinatan >> banan. Yo, someone called me a b. I don't know if I would like that.
which is mostly used for men of a little bit more solid body type.
>> Oh, I think a different community other than Germans have already adopted the bear nickname, if you know what I mean. Anyways, >> this is why many men don't like to be called like this, but I actually like to use that one a lot. If you use animal nicknames, you can always put something in front of them to make them even cuter. Like for example, baby or you put something in the end of a word.
For example, e or the two German dimminatives and line.
A nibble bunny.
Baby mouse.
What? Yo, what what is this? What is this uh freaking storyline that we got going on in this video right now? What the hell?
forgan.
Hello.
How did she know?
Handy out loud.
>> Sorry.
>> Yeah.
>> My bad.
>> Yeah.
Sorry.
>> Yeah.
>> Is that like quiet balls?
>> But we are not done with animals yet.
There are more specific versions of animal nicknames.
Let's push the animals away now and talk about other German nicknames instead.
Leaping zus or zusa poopsy poopsy mine.
Mine hats. Mine hats. Blat mine, >> bro. Leaf blat.
Oh, dude. Okay. If you don't know, I am living in Germany now. I'm located in Germany. So, when I'm playing Counter Strike, I'm on the EU servers and I play with a lot of Russians. I had no idea this whole time they were calling me that a nice cute leaf. I'm just a little leaf. Wait, the Russians that play CS2 on the EU servers are actually freaking so heartwarming. You know what? I'm going to start calling everyone Blat from now on.
>> Man.
Nope. There's no moon. Moon, you're suck. You're not a German nickname.
Mine.
>> Mine.
Gick.
mine.
And of course, there are these nicknames that you use when you want to seem cool in front of your friends that are a little bit cheeky or even rude. For women in German, that would be >> Oh, kind of doesn't sound good. It kind of sounds like an insult to me, to be honest.
Uh, alter. That's a good one. M. Yeah, we have that in English as well. In America, we say my old lady or my old man. Yeah, that's a good one.
Papa, dude.
Dude, I think she's losing her mind the more acting she's doing in this video.
Her acting is going like off of a cliff.
It's just getting crazier and crazier.
She's losing her mind.
And for men it would be that is my >> stinger. Is that a penis reference?
Are you talking about a penis?
Yeah, Angelo, >> my old man.
Uh, what dialect is this?
What dialect is this? So that I cannot go there because I can't understand what the heck she is saying.
Apart from that, Germans also use some nicknames that are like taken out of other languages. For example, English or French. For example, we would also say baby or babe or darling or my love. And from French, we would use shiri. I've heard people doing that. And of course, you can always make it more horrible and weird by putting combinations together and just throwing everything in one pot.
>> Here we go.
>> These were all the nicknames that I know in German. Imagine this video so far as a cake with all the contents that I put in it already as like the foundation. I am the foundation. There's like a specific topping missing, right? That little cherry that you put on top. And I know what that cherry is. You want to know what Eric and I call each other?
>> It's me.
>> I am actually a little bit embarrassed to share that secret with you, but I think it is just fair since we are the rabbit family and we shouldn't be embarrassed of anything. So, I'll just be honest and present to you Eric's and my nicknames for each other.
All right, let's do this. I don't even know how we came up with this, but I am cutiepie.
>> I am Codle Pie and this is Crumble Pie.
>> As you can see, quite unusual and quite embarrassing, but we love each other and we love to be cheesy with each other.
So, that's how we came up with this.
>> All right, dude. That was fun. I think my favorite is going to have to be Poopsie. Um, I think I will now be calling my German wife Poopsie from now on. So, if my uploads start to suddenly disappear, if I am no longer uploading on this channel, you have your prime suspect. I would I will have been murdered for calling my wife Poopsie.
