[00:00:00]There are plethora of things to study, multiple activities to do to become fluent in English. And you're always confused what to do which can actually work in your favor. Definitely, I'll help you with that, but first you have to understand that the activities which you need, the study plan which you need, it needs to go according to your level.

[00:00:22]Otherwise, you are going to waste your time with unnecessary things. Don't worry. In this video, definitely I'll tell you if you are at beginner level then what kind of activities you must do. And same I'll mention about intermediate and advanced speakers.

[00:00:39]Those who are new, LSRWTS stands for listening, speaking, reading, writing, thinking, and studying in English. And this video is going to be all about study. And yes, this video is the last video of our LSRWTS series. And let me tell you, people call it four pillars, four modules, LSRW, but I call it six pillars because that's how I have improved my fluency. Now, there are three categories of handful of activities and practices. But, you are going to choose these categories according to your level. Let me tell you, the first category is all about listening, reading, writing, thinking.

[00:01:27]The second category is all about focusing on grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, idiom, sentence formation. And the third quality is quality category. Where you focus more on pauses, vocal variety, body language, voice modulation, intonation. And you do not need these things when you are at beginner level. And that's why I have classified these things into three categories. So, consider me the right person and let's start your journey with me. The first category is for the people who are at beginner level and do not know what to do. Here are simple things you can start with if you are at beginner level, and that's how I had started my journey. Category one, what are the things you are going to follow?

[00:02:13]First is listening. Just start with listening. I'm telling you this is the magic. This is the only thing your brain needs. Listen to different accents.

[00:02:25]Listen slow speech, fast speech, listen different genres, listen as much as you can. Listen to fun, listen to emotions, try to listen whatever you can listen.

[00:02:36]Second thing which you can do is solo speaking practice.

[00:02:41]Talk to ChatGPT, talk to AI, talk to walls, talk to yourself, just make it solo.

[00:02:48]And that solo practice will give you confidence. What do you think I directly jumped in public? Never. First I started my practice solo. The third thing you can start if you are at beginner level, simple thing, reading out loud. Reading out loud, and here you do not need to be confused what to read. Who is telling you to pick genre? Who is telling you to grab knowledge? All you have to do is just put your mouth muscles into practice. That's it. This is the stage where you are using your mother tongue mouth movements to speak English.

[00:03:22]And this is a struggle. I can understand. a lot of videos and people are sharing bunch of things with you.

[00:03:29]Read, write, everyday study two words, study grammar. At the same time, everyone is busy. Today everyone is busy at least in doing something. Grammar will not make sense to you at all, nor you will make sense to grammar. So, the first category was for beginner level and lower intermediate level. Now, the second category is for intermediate level and upper intermediate level. Now, At this level, you [snorts] can go for these things. I would recommend you to go for your vocabulary. Study vocabulary. And if you simply ask, "What should I study in vocabulary?" Pick only three things at this level.

[00:04:06]Synonyms.

[00:04:08]Learn how to replace the basic words with the good words.

[00:04:12]Okay? Calm, serene. Hungry, starving. Happy, elated. Surprised, flabbergasted. Second thing is learn antonyms. Learn how to oppose words. And third thing is simply learn describing words. How to describe people, people's feeling, how to describe the things in your surroundings. The second thing I would recommend you is to study grammar.

[00:04:39]First thing is first. 70% of your grammar is all about tenses when it comes to speaking. But yeah, 30% of the grammar is coming from some complicated rules like conditionals and modal verbs, subject-verb agreement, active-passive voice, and there are many more. So yes, most of the time when you reach at this level, intermediate level, upper intermediate level, you struggle making these type of sentences, right?

[00:05:06]So study these type of things and you do not need to cover everything in one go.

[00:05:11]Take one thing at a time and start working on that. By the way, you are going to be very happy because once you will reach at your intermediate level, you're going to notice that half of your grammar has been already improved. So the third thing on which you can work upon is pronunciation and your annunciation. It's all about getting clarity because when once you reach at your intermediate level, yes, people are going to have conversation with you. And if you don't have clarity in your speaking, then no one is going to practice with you. Yes, so work on your pronunciation and annunciation. When I say pronunciation, you do not need to study each and every rule of pronunciation. Only see where you struggle and work upon that. As there are many people who are struggling with sa and sha sound. Next thing which I would recommend if you are at intermediate level, then start having one-on-one conversation instead of going solo. At beginner level, you go solo, but at intermediate level, I would not recommend you to go solo. Here you have to find people, go on applications, have conversation with people, explore as much as you can. And this is actually the part of your study. The next thing I want you to study at this level, little bit learn how to sprinkle idioms. Not much, but little bit. I've seen many intermediate speakers, they are not using even single idiom at all in their speech. The next thing is obviously listening. Listening you should never ever skip. Listening needs to be there always. All right, so if you are at intermediate level here, I would recommend work on your vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, idioms, listening, speaking. Now, the last level is advanced speakers and here I would recommend the third category, all about quality. Once you become advanced speakers, yes, you do public speaking, you're going for interviews, you're talking with a lot of people.

[00:06:54]You are not nervous at all. Now you have confidence and that's why here I would recommend you to work on your quality.

[00:07:02]When I say quality, quality means now, if you're listening, listen with the intention of gaining knowledge. Explore genres. Second, I would recommend you to speak with people. Speak with the crowd, kind of public speaking. And public speaking is not always going to the public and then talking. Public speaking can be simple, going on applications and having conversation with multiple people, joining some groups. Third thing I would recommend you to, yes, study vocab. If you are at your advanced level, you must must study good vocab to describe better and better. Another thing is I would recommend you to study idioms. And if you're at intermediate level, then don't just sprinkle, start using start substituting enough interesting idioms in your speech. Now, when it comes to the quality part, here I want you to work on vocal variety.

[00:07:52]Learn how to take pauses while speaking.

[00:07:55]Learn how to add voice modulation into your speech. And there are a couple of activities with which you can make your learning fun like tongue twisters, pen technique, shadowing. There are many more things and yes, these activities are not just for advanced speakers. Some intermediate and beginners can also try it. Another thing is start grasping more and more knowledge. When you are at your beginner level and intermediate level, then your focus is not more on grasping knowledge. Your focus is more on just simply consuming and instilling English in your mind. But now as you are at advanced level, try focusing more on grasping knowledge. Instill your brain with knowledge because you have to share.

[00:08:38]Another thing I would highly highly recommend if you are at advanced level, learn how to structure thoughts, writing. I haven't talked about writing for beginners, for intermediates, but yes, you can do it if it really excites you at beginner and intermediate level. But if you're at advanced level, I would highly highly recommend you to start writing. Why? Because it teaches you how to structure your thoughts. And if you are at advanced level and you speak without structure, no one listens to you and no one will even consider you a good speaker. Then learn how to structure your thoughts. Definitely that can happen with writing practice.
