High-Performance CPR Saves LivesAdded:
I'm Deanna Herbert. I'm a battalion chief of the EMS here at South King Fire.
High performance CPR is an organized teamwork approach. We can call it a pit crew approach and where everybody has a job, everybody has a position that they're working in and a specific role that they're doing. So, even our kits are sitting in a specific place. And at 2 minutes, they'll switch. High performance CPR will give the patient a better chance of survival. Our goal is to get is to get to your emergency within 6 minutes of being dispatched. Everybody has the specific job they're getting done faster, more in tune, and more efficient.
So, how many personnel would be typically used in a response like this?
Typically, 9 to 10, but it could be more as needed. Depends on location and how long we're going. Some CPRs can last for 45 minutes to an hour. And at 2 minutes, the compressor's going to get out of the way and then the chief's going to get in there and do some CPR.
